That's how I started my firewood business..Road side logging...small Chevy and a 1970s chainsaw... and a dream!!!
Love your roadside logging videos! That saw is a beast.
Thanks 👍
15 seconds in. Thank you for noodling, my back doesn't hurt just watching
That stuff is so straight, it looks like it would be easier to split it into quarters that noodle it. that is a nice looking tree.
I use to roll the rounds up to the back of the truck , I cut them different lengths to use the like stepping stones it works perfectly just have to worry about cutting the last couple on the ground that way , saves your back !
Excellent save. I can’t stand to see wood go to waste. I swear I think that tree grew another 12 ft while you were cutting it. LOL!! Well done.
Thanks 👍
Hey Scheib ! Amazing how the saw just rips through those logs ! Love your scavenger instincts , hustle and impressive work ethic . You are a man who loves his work ! Great video ! Woo !
Thanks 👍
When noodling I just cut half to 3 quarters thru, then a lite tap with splitting maul to finish job.. Keeps chain out of the dirt
Wow💥 good find ! I do the same exact thing all year long, preparing for winter. I live in Fairfield Ohio. I love to burn firewood in the winter! I usually start in Oct. Thru. April. I used to say, it keeps me healthy / now I say its gonna kill me 😩 (I'm 72) loading em' in the trk. is the hardest part for me ! "Whew"
Pa has so much wood rotting along the roads especially on state land. Good saw logs at that.
Roadside logging King hard at work. you have a good thing going there. Looks like you need a bark spud to leave rotten bark right there where your buckin your rounds , leave the bark there & take the good stuff home
If you save those rip-shavings you can dry them, spray them with a little hof wax, you can use/sell them for fire starters. Shalom/gw
FROM THE LOOK OF THE VIDEO THAT LOG LOOKS GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE LUMBER WITH THE DISCOLORATION OF THE HEART SECTION
It's look out it's Scheib on the road side ! we aren't allowed to cut wood off the the side of the road Down Under because it's crown land and belongs to the Queen, now sadly that she's passed I'll have to look into it 🤔.
So dumb….. get rid of the junk. Do everyone a favor!
I know exactly where you are cutting. I use to travel that road frequently. No nouses for about 8 miles - just woods.
Lots of blow downs everywhere
Wow great find. The 500 is ripping woh!!!
those rounds gave you a workout! if you get some snow you can use a sled to get those ones farther back out. thats what we did as a kid and worked pretty well.
That’s a pretty good truck load there!! Great job!!🪵🪵🪵
Thanks 👍
Hallo my new freand,
Great job, always becarefully on work
Nice to meet you on this vidio
Thank,s👌👍
I just got on your channel. I’m going to check it out. Awesome.
Shibe glad you got good weather
Lumber jacked!!!!💪
Time to get that Portable Power Winch that Tony Cool Tools (youtube channel) has shown on his channel. With multiple snatch blocks and good anchor points you could easily pull up sections of any downed tree that you find road side.
Roadside logs are my favorite logs lol
Wish we were allowed to do this in the UK!
Free hardwood is always good
Great video, good find. A single ATV loading ramp would help to simply roll the logs onto the truck instead of bucking them. It would save time and your back from lifting large chunks. Then you simply roll them off the truck directly on the splitter. This is what I do for large yellow birch I harvest.
Thanks for the info!
Do not wprry his back will pay the price eventualy. It is just a matter of time
That is by far the greatest chainsaw ever made 😳
It's big brother the 661 is very nice aswell.
@@OOOOOO12345 Never ran the 462 or the 500 just no from running my 661 if it's anything like them it'll be an animal got 36" bar on mine the now never needed anything else for milling or taking down.
@@OOOOOO12345 I’ve seen the 462 beat the the 500 in videos I have a 462 and I have run the 500 and the difference to me isn’t worth spending the extra money. Not saying the 500 isn’t good. My 572xp also seems just as good.
Great video, Scheib! 102K views in 2 weeks! That's amazing.
Yeah man it’s crazy
Sole nice looking wood there schieb even if it's a bit mushroomy!👍🏴
Great job with those big rounds👍👍
Thanks 👍
Can't express how disappointed I was when it became obvious you were making fire wood. Ouch, that beautiful oak. At least it's not rotting away any more...
Sorry Bud but you are the first one to say it wasn’t really about logging lol 🤘🏻🤘🏻🍺🍺
Atta boy.
Nice load there Scheib!
wow nice load of firewood
Nice 👍 job
Thank you! Cheers!
Holy crap this makes my back hurt just looking at those big blocks my friend. Nice looking wood but that red oak is heavy!!! It will make some fine firewood.💪👨👩👦👦
Right on
you got that saw sharp!
Yeah man sharp saw just makes everything easier
Now that's some big time noodling! Big rounds suck!
Those big oak rounds can put up a fight, but I think that's just about the best wood there is. It makes some great looking splits when it's all done.
Totally agree
Nice roadside logging. Beautiful oak!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thanks, will do!
Good morning Scheib. What a great find! Keep up your roadside lumberjacking! The saw Sounds like it's running pretty good. Keep up the great videos.
Thanks 👍
A lot of nice oak there Scheib, Definitely worth saving.
You got that right!
Heck ya roadside logging at its finest💪🏻 500 was killin it brother👊🏻🍻🇺🇸
Nice work today. Can’t wait for you to figure out how to get a log load outback in your yard. Stay safe out there by the road! Have a great day!
Thanks 👍
Nice find! Awesome load.
Thanks 👍
Not to shabby...👍🏽. Dang the 500 is no joke. Just cutting away like always 💪🏽🇺🇸
That's a nice load of oak rounds you got Scheib I love roadside logging but it's hard on my back and knees thank God for my nefue to help me.
Great job Don woo scheib❤😊
Not new. My family did this when I was growing up. The power company would clear the trees from power lines and it was fair game. We always asked them. They said yes it's yours but you can't do anything until we are done. Safety thing. Understood and thanks for the free wood
Man that 500 was tearing it up! Great job Scheib!👍🍻👍
Yes it was!
That's how I get my wood same way
hi there another nice one
Thank you! Cheers!
I enjoy following along as you harvest firewood.
Glad you enjoy it!
We have been blessed with very mild weather in the Midwest so far in January. I didn’t think that I would be cutting and splitting wood now but I have been able to get some done.
Keep up the good work Scheib!
Hello Mr. Scheib, That is a big piece of work you just accomplished, cutting along the roads helps clesn up the place, Miller has good calories, and you need them as hard as You work.
Many thanks
Another really nice load of wood Scheib . To bad you can bring the gator in the dump trailer to help get that wood out !!!
Maybe taking the gator in the trailer might be an idea to get that wood to the roadside
Good eye. Nice find.
Good haul Scheib. You deserve two beers after that one. Lol. Have a great day
Thanks 👍
That 500i is ripping through that oak!
HONEY WAKE UP, NEW ROADSIDE LOGGIN VID!
Im up here in NWPA and my In-Laws live right by a State Gamelands and after this last storm we had at Christmas, with all the high winds there's probably a years worth of wood in fallen trees but the State wont let you cut them, they just cut up enough to get off the roadway and leave it! I was told it's an expensive fine if caught taking it...something about wildlife habitat BS.
Sounds like something NY would do. Thought PA was smarter
I can only cut from October 15- March 15 because of the endangered brown bat and I’m fine with that- people should look into the science of things and not be so worried about their own interests when they fail to understand
It's state game lands so it makes sense they want it left. If it was state forest i'd bet you could cut( probably for a fee)
@@donchristie420 Well I doubt any bats, deer, squirrels etc. are making a tree thats fallen right along the road their home.
@@brandonhoad9033 yes, makes a difference, for me it’s federal flood plain property
$20 for a 4 cord limit and up to $ 50 for a ten cord limit from my local National Forest office for personal use firewood permit in NW PA .
Are you able to find that much no problem? I'm in SE PA and considering making trips up your way since we don't have enough national or state forests around here to do it.
@@ironpiggies have U spoken to land owners? Take all the dead down so it doesn’t damage the living trees
I like your new video did you get a new log splitter this will make nice firewood for you love your video buddy 🍺🍺
Good find. Great work.
Thanks!
Good wood and a nice saw, perfect day
You got that right!
OLDTIMER
Hello Schieb Happy New Year brother! That’s a nice score there along the rd. Nothing like free firewood. Something I should consider from time to time. Keep up the great content my friend cheers 🍻 👌🏻🔥🇨🇦
Thanks, you too!
Good job, bro
Thanks ✌
nice video,bon job..
Nice firewood score, Scheib. Takes more work but the price is hard to beat!
It sure is
Hah! I do the same thing- leave the wedges in the truck, until I need one...
Good stuff and lots of muscle work but you got’ er done.
Appreciate that
I legit was going to get that tree tomorrow, and it was gone, nice snag
I'm in central PA. And if you go to your local forestry department they will give you a firewood permit for that area. Unless their is signs saying no fuel wood cutting
Great start to the year for sure, nice haul!!
You got that right!
Awesome video bud, I will be working on a huge cherry tree this weekend, I think I'm going to take a lesson from you and noodle the big pieces down before splitting them up.
Go for it!
If you put a lift and electric winch on a trailer . You load a nice load with bigger loads.
Time to get the ATV and dump cart involved. Save you a lot of walking and ease the load.
You workin plenty hard. I think it will help you in long run
thanks
Lots of nice rounds there. Some of the not so nice round see if some one would take them for free. I did that last year
Nice work 😊
Thanks 😄
Noodling and putting a wedge in the saw cut to avoid pinching
Knowing what he doing young guys pay attention
You need a hand truck with large wheels to get that stuff out of the deep woods.
Bella legna fortissimo
sì amico, farà dell'ottima legna da ardere!
Where are you at because that looks like a straight line wind storm that came through the woods there cuz you don't we've had that here in Southern New York you know what they call the southern tier and they get a lot of straight line winds down there with a lot of blowdowns and that was a a really nice log that you were cutting after you shoved that one piece under and you cut through and I seen a lifted up I said s*** he's got it made man just buzz them off I sure do like your videos because I'd rather listen to a saw run and somebody preaching about politics or life or all this other hippie s*** you take care friend That's a sweet runner saw you got there too
Hey bud it’s been wet here in Michigan also. The Woodyard is just a muddy mess hard to get anything done. Later man.
yeah man the problem is my woodyard is also my lawn lol I don't want to rut it up.
Think about mounting a truck bed hoist. It will keep your back happy.
Maybe in the future but for now this will do.
I would definitely share our knee deep snow with you.
I think I would rather have that then this mud.
@@OutsidewithScheib mud is mean also but I’m cutting storm damage so it really is mean. I got a skid steer so that makes all the difference, best thing is I retired in august so no going back to work in March so once the snow is gone i can cut away only to fight mud but I will take seeing what I’m doing over the snow. Stay safe and that’s a nice find.
Schieb have u thought about hiring a wee mini dumper on tracks or sommit like that save u having lug it all?
I just found your videos, enjoying them a lot. I'm just curious why you don't bring a vertical wood splitter to quarter those big pieces? Help save wear and tear on your body and saw?!
I don't have a vertical splitter its really not that bad to do it this way.
Another question , how do you get permission or a permit to harvest roadside wood? I scour marketplace for free wood to heat my home but still have to buy some to get thru a season.
@@OutsidewithScheib
I use an app called ONX hunt it gives me the landowners name then I do research from there.
Schieb that looks like some straight grain wood, would it easier with a splitting maul instead of noodling?
Amazing sounding saw, what ratio mix do you use?.
i just use the mix for 2.5 gallons from sthil
Why did you not like the rounds of darker colored wood ? Rot setting in ? Thnx…
Yep
See if they will let you use your gator. Enjoy your videos.
Are the roadsides public land? Around here, it is all private land, with county or state easements, What chains are you using? I was always told, to never split wood, with your saw, Guess they were wrong. Peace
Private
Never split wood with your saw but notice how he cuts it from the side. That is night and day different. Try it out and you will see!
Sounded like you didn’t like the dark color in some of the Rounds ? Why is that ?
ARE YOU CUTTING FOR FIREWOOD OR FOR LOGGING PURPOSES TO MAKE BOARDS FOR FURNITURE, CABINETS, OR FLOORING ❓ FLOORING
Another great roadside logging vid! What a great way to start the New Year. I was curious, are those mushrooms edible? And do u cut them off before splitting the wood? Can’t wait to watch you split them. Stay blessed and be safe out there!
Any chance of just splitting it there and then load, I’m lucky that I can split, leave and come back later to get( federal prop with a gate)😊
someone would scarf that up in no time
@@OutsidewithScheib I put a hitch on the back of my dump trailer for the splitter,so I only have to get large rounds to it and once split, chucked right into trailer
