as a canadian, it is true that we don’t really have a school lunch program. i do remember going to one high school that had served poutine, chicken strips, and milk. they usually included another somewhat healthy drink (like water or sugar free juice) and a fruit or vegetable of your choice. now i just make regular sandwiches and cesar salads. :)
I am an Indian and most schools here have two breaks ( one for breakfast and one for lunch) We don't have the system of paid lunch and our parents usually make the food. This is the staple diet -
Breakfast : We have a large variety but i remember taking Sabudana, a kind of spicy dish the most to school. My mom used to usually pack chocolate filled biscuit with it.
Lunch: We had Roti which is flat bread also known as tortia. And some sabji, that is a vegetable that was like seriouslt spiced with oils spicies what not. And then my mom packed some Indian sweets like pedha Or kaju katli with it.
Her American lunch will be the best version of it that there ever will be.

I am Korean but I grew up in Australia. Mum packed me lunch everyday. She normally packed me a fried rice or a Korean rice cake meal called Tteokbokki in this one small thermos.

In El Salvador, one of the most popular lunches is pupusas! If you look up “el Salvador lunch” you’ll probably see some round “doughy” looking things that are called pupusas, and they’re made with corn flour, and filled with cheese and beans (they can have various fillings, but cheese with beans is the most popular amongst students) and it usually has a “curtido” and salsa on the side! I’d love to see you try it!!
I'm from the USA. I typically had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich everyday when I was in high school. At my school my parents put money into an account that my sister and I to use for lunch.

As an american, we normally have school lunches hot dishes chicken, taco salad, and much much more. You can choose between a hot vegitable or a cold one or both, but you have to have at least one. We have the option for salad every day, but there is normally at least two other options. We normally have fruits like grapes in a bag or fresh fruit such as oranges, melon, apples, or strawberries. I love when we can get the frozen strawberries in a cup which is about once a month. there is also bread rolls or some other kind of bread aswell. of course we can also have chocolate or white milk. You have no vegitables or fruits and we have to take some at our school. I think our school lunches are probabley better than some other American lunches.

We call potato gems “Kroketten“, I’m a big fan of them.
I would most likely enjoy bits and pieces of the Japanese, Korean (I too enjoy spinach), lunches, although I would probably like the Canadian one the most.
In Germany, we offen only have school until 1 o‘clock, that means we don’t always get lunch here. I don’t like the school lunches either (they’re always really random) so I get some fruit/vegetable (usually carrots, apple slices or grapes) and something from the bakery (a croissant, a pretzel or so on).
WE DONT HAVE tAtEr ToTs IN SCHOOL LUNCHES
we have bread that is hard as a rock and a sorry excuse for pizza with ORANGE sauce
We also have colored water that they call milk
Also, not so fun fact: everytime they serve chicken tenders/nuggets (every 2 months) THEY RUN OUT *JUST* BEFORE I GET IT AND HAVE TO STICK TO THE HARD AS A ROCK BREAD

In South Africa we usually just pack our own lunch but since school starts at 7:15 or 7:20 if you don’t have time to pack lunch you can buy from the tuck shop which is usually just sandwiches,slop chips or salads,what we really like to do is too when it’s winter in the morning we go to the tuck shop and get hot chocolate or tea. 😍
Ireland doesn't have lunch schemes like this but if they did, it would probably be cottage pie or veg and beef stew
Most American school lunches don't come with a dessert・you wouldn't be happy the milk is chunky a lot of times, the burger is almost always soggy, and if you want dessert you have to buy it
Love the video! Luckily I'm from Canada and I can confirm that most of the time parents or a family member makes the lunches. There are special programs in certain parts of where I live where there is a lunch system for the less fortunate. It usually included a fruit, veggie, meat main, snack, and dessert. The dessert is usually something small, like gummies or pudding. For home lunches it is most likely a sandwhich with different meat or lettuce inside. So you won't get tired of it for a while. And during winter most kids would bring left overs we can heat up or soup in a thermos.

Wengie, can you please try Indian lunch? It's basically almost like Canadian, like parents pack their kid's lunch, but mostly it is rice/chapathi with a curry.. the traditional Indian food.

Im from Australia and i go to a private school. We only have lunch from a canteen, we dont get served meals. If we order a lunch at the canteen its pretty expensive. Our lunch system is pretty much the same to Wengies cuz she is Australian. But usually my school serves us Sausage sizzles (hot dogs basically). They add fries on the side and at the end they serve us popsicles/ ice blocks/ ice cream

Indonesian here, we don't have a school lunch program, people just sell stuff like sushi, crispy chicken, noodles, ice cream, burgers, corn dog and sometimes there is an event where there is more food outside :)
As a Singaporean we do not have fixed lunches. In our canteen we get to choose from a variety of food stalls where they sell Malay food, Indian food ,Chinese food and also western foods such as pizza, chicken burgers, mac'n'cheese and fries. We can also buy Ice milo(a type of chocomilk) or just milk,yogurt,fresh fruit juices that they make just for you and etc. If anyone reading this is confused why we have this variety, Singapore is a multicultural country.
When i was in Lebanon as a child i used to eat just a normal sandwich made in Lebanese bread with either Nutella or ham or cheese sandwich or either a baguette with labneh in it ( labneh is Greek yogurt but dried no water in it with thyme and olive oil on top) and when i came to Australia 4 almost 5 years ago and as of what i eat now being in year 12, i still eat similar foods to what i ate in Lebanon but toast is a bread my mum may use at times for me and banana for recess time or any chocolate or lollies i got at home( or i may just get free Chinese snacks and foods from my 3 Chinese friends😜)
In the UK I have:
Packed lunch: sandwich crisps carrots cucumber cheese and a cookie from canteen with water to drink
School lunch: motserrella sticks tomato pasta radnor splash and brownie
Or I used to have a roast on Wednesdays wich had beef or chicken potatoes peas carrots and gravy!

As a Canadian we have school breakfast and mine would usually be waffles with some sort of fruit and maple syrup OF COURSE
I really loved it.
But there is not a specific lunch you can try from India we bring a lot variety of food but I would really like it if you try any one of them.

I'm from New Zealand ( very close to Austrailia uwu ) and at our school canteen ( intermidiate ) , we can buy things like Donuts, Chocolate Milk, Choc chip cookies, juice, sandwiches etc. I forgot the rest lol 😅😅
In primary, we would also have lunch orders but we ordered online and we were able to buy Pies, Pizza, brownies, cookies, sushi, Onigiri ( my fave bc they were heart shaped, spaghetti, sandwiches, etc

I'm from Canada and yes we usually just pack our own lunches but in my old school they actually served lunch to the classrooms. My favourite lunch would be macaroni and cheese with tomato soup and a tube yogurt. We also get to choose between chocolate milk and regular milk. 💕

I live in the US and we have a variety of food depending on what day it is but the every day option is cheese or pepperoni pizza. The cheese was 1/2 an inch thick and the pepperoni only had 3 small pieces of pepperoni.

I'm chinese, but i moved to australia and i've always had either assorted rice (fried rice, usually in a thermos) or homemade sushi. And for snack, just a protein bar :)

In England it would vary everyday but on Fridays we would always have fish and chips (fries) with a tomato ketchup sauce and mabey vegetables with them. As a drink we would either have whatever was in our own water bottle, water or a strawberry milkshake on special days as a treat. For a pudding (it would also vary) but the one I remember most was jelly (or jello I think you call it) with some sort of fruit on top like mango but the fruit would depend on which flavour jelly/jello you got. Thinking of it just brings back memories.
As a American I've never had chocolate mousse in high school but last time I've had tater tots back in elementary school
At my school in texas we didn't have dessert and sometimes we would have different things and we would Rarely get chocolate milk and everytime we did every kid would get insanely excited

Just like wengie, I'm from Australia so I had a lunch order most of the time unless I was able to make my own lunch and I wrote everything into a brown paper bag, I loved the meat pies they were one of my favourite.

In India ,I live in Tamil Nadu so they mostly give rice with any stir fry veggie and rasam or sambar ,curd rice,an egg and poppadums or appalam
Some times they give noodles,roti ,korma and for dessert they give either a cookie or payasam

The thing about the America one is that at my school they give us smaller burgers and some of the other stuff is no at our school we get other sides like apples carrots celery lettuce small salads a few of small smiley fries fruit cups and jello fruit

for lunch in primary school in Australia was canteen food and I had garlic bread, popcorn, a chocolate moosie, and a muffin.
I really really want u to try INDIAN school lunches...there we also don't have a particular canteen system our mothers pack our lunches from home...and in that we have curry ,rice and tortilla (we call it roti) and fruits and salad our lunches are often called healthy.

As a person who lives in Canada, I want to let you know that you may not be able to the peanut butter on bread since MOST schools don't even allow students to bring anything with peanuts as many kids are allergic to them let alone have them as their school lunch.
