It’s amazing how in America and the UK you only get a slice of pizza or a sandwich for $5, while people in Asia can enjoy a complete filling meal with rice, meat, and vegetables for about $3
Different currencies, different cultures
You can get other things for that much in America. They showed one example.
@@markjunyu8237 I mean you are right $5 is ₹370 here .
Hey a slice of pizza like 500 calories and more then enough for lunch. You get protein for the cheese, tomato for vegetables, and carb for the bread. It an entire meal full of vitamin and nutrition 😅 guess you sub a a salad for soda if you want to be healthier
Yeah, but the minimum wage in Indonesia is around $350-$500.
People always said it's cheap, but it's actually not for locals.
I'm Turkish but was raised in Britain and I **literally burst out laughing** when they showed that amazing full Turkish lunch followed by a bloody TESCO MEAL DEAL XD
Agreed! Tesco crap!
They coulda gone to Harringay for lush Turkish food, or Camden market even for all of these, but no, Tesco meal deal. Baffling but accurate for the average person.
They could have at least tried showing a local English eatery lunch
Well yeah everything in Turkey is cheap if you have a currency that’s not the Lira, there’s no economy lol
@@aradikas8811as an East Asian who lives in the UK I can tell you Brits actually don't eat lunch, unless not in the way we Asians do. They just stuff a sandwich or a bag of crisps into their mouth and call it lunch. Asians ALWAYS either eat out or bring their own lunch.
Asian to British and USA :
"Are you guys having lunch or snacking??"
I don't even eat lunch lol
hey that's what i thought.
Pizza is different tho it’s more of a lunch than just a sandwich also it’s actually pretty filling
@@xxliaz9068 in Asia, it's never a meal without rice
That's like snack to us. Considering asian is mostly eat in large quantity (I mean New York pizza is quite large). So we would say its a snack.
The Turkish, Hong Kong, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Korean portion's is The Only One I Can Call As Lunch, because they have a filling portion and their portion has the right nutrient's to keep you going for the day. The British, Moroccan, French, Mexican ETC is considered as a snack because It's not gonna fill you up.
It's called "inflation". Do you really expect a Vietnamese person to make as much money as an American/British one?
@@andreiryancaballero1464 u don't really need a lot of money to eat a full healthy food.
As example if u buy vegetables+2eggs+a ham and u make homemade sandwich would only cost 0,78 dollar here
You can order the French tacos with different sizes, the biggest one should be enough for the entire day depends on your appetite, dont know much about the others though... And yes! Plenty of choices for lunch in Vietnam, filling and reasonable prices.
@@andreiryancaballero1464 Actually grocery prices in Europe is about the same as in Vietnam, the vendors and restaurants are where the difference at. Places like Lidl or Aldi exist in Eu for example, prices are about the same (In France atleast). Though i wonder whats 'inflation' has to do with this, do you mean inflation hits America harder then? Its more the different economies since inflation hits pretty much everyone globally.
@@andreiryancaballero1464 I can't believe that You WAY too salty dude. It's not about money. Bc they all just chose "simple lunch" in THEIR OWN COUNTRY STANDARDS.
I'm on a pretty high income in Seoul Korea, but yes sometime I could eat Tteokbokki just as a simple lunch right? The Vietnamese as well they just chose simple lunch although there are so many fine meals in Vietnam just like in all other countries. That's why Vietnamese costs only 1.22usd but British costs 6.8usd But the original comment isn't saying about money at all but only about the foods. So it's not about money or income. It's more about "food culture" I mean your comment is just pointless here.
The way they did UK dirty with the sad cold tesco sandwich after showing Turkish lunch spread lmaooo
😂😂😂 ikr

I know, they could have at least gone to Greggs😂
I feel bad for that brits lunch
The fact that even if there r like hundreds of Indian takeaway and other cuisine in the UK ,they still choose a grocery store food, even eating gas station food is like 10 times better.
The UK One made me depressed especially after seeing that he actually payed more than the Turkish lady
It's insanely sad when you consider some of the great British lunches that can be had .... a sammich from bloody Tesco .... /facepalm
It was also supposed to be a £3 meal deal.... but they paid £4.80???
Right. I mean they could’ve at least gone to greggs to get a sausage roll or a pasty.
Lul yep live in London , I’m from Vietnam so they show kinda sad lunch lul. The Vietnam one was cheaper and better lul !
@@hamiltonk95 Wine gummies aren't part of the meal deal , yet she still bought it for some reason. If she got a snack from the meal deal and bought wine gummies it would cost £3.70. But nah she choose to pay for it separately.
“If you haven't eaten rice, it's called you haven't eaten”
-Indonesian People
As someone who has grown up on the indonesian diet, I can confirm that this is 100% true! It is consistently difficult to fill myself up unless I eat a lot of rice, because it's not uncommon for anything else to leave an empty feeling in my stomach.
My jaw dropped when I saw turkish lunch. It's so cheap and filling
Imagine being so busy colonising other countries in the past that you forgot to develop your own cuisine and when asked, most creative thing you can come up with is a packed sandwich.

A little fun fact for the Indonesian lunch, Nasi Padang. The price actually varied, not only with what you are ordering as the dish/side dish, it can also depends on which region you are in. As an example, at least in Yogyakarta, with the same menu as in the video, I can get it for around 20.000 rupiah (1.32 USD).
Try padang at jakal KM 7, at eastside of the street, it's delicious
10rb jg udh dpt
in Semarang, nasi padang with fried chicken cost 12k rupiah
20k is still expensive, in foodplace called "warteg", you can even get a lunch for 10-15k, and much more filling

If you order Nasi Padang for takeaway, they'll give you two portions of rice instead of one, at the same price. This tradition originated from colonial times, where dine-in usually reserved for whites. Therefore, the seller gives the natives two portions of rice for takeaway, so they can share it with others.

One this is one of my favorite Vietnamese food since I’m Vietnamese myself, but was born in America. So during the summer recently, I was in Vietnam and my friend, brother, mom, mom’s friend, and I went to Da Nang for a 3-5 day vacation. As we just arrived there, we went to go eat at a restaurant where they served fried chicken and rice. It was my first time eating that food and as I was eating, omg it felt like heaven. It was so flavorful. Now since I’m watching this video, it gets me hungry and I feel like I want to eat this dish rn.

I'm gonna go home in a month and I can't wait to enjoy full meal in affordable price
The UK lunch was pretty depressing and expensive, while Turkey's gets the most valuable (in terms of price and portion)
Disagree with your there. With $5.23, you can feed 4 to 5 people with Vietnamese meal.

Proud of my country yo
economy bro, uk has great economy
They are £3.00, not £4.80... His sandwich wasn't part of the meal deal, this is why the price was much higher... It's £3.00 in Central London, so I don't know how it could be £4.80 anywhere else. Even Heathrow has a WHS and they charge £4.50 for a meal deal...
The British lunch was quite depressing but it's kind of accurate for the average London worker.
Yeah, I was surprised at why it was even included. Just to make fun of how boring British food is? lol Not that's it's really boring. That's just a stereotype.
It cracked me up that they included a pre packaged, boring looking ham sandwich with an orange juice 😂😂😂 like why even be in the video.

@@WKurniawan03 you have problem with that, the taste that you said meh ever be the most delicious food in the world, also if the taste meh, there will not a lot Padang resto, you just a hatred
Have u heard nasi lemak, a Malaysian national dish. It's used to be a humble peasant food, creamy rice wrapped in banana leaf. D rice will be cooked with coconut cream, with few several basic components like sambal (fried chillies), boiled egg, sliced of cucumber, fried dried anchovies n peanuts. When d food is unwrapped, u can immediately smell d fragrant banana leaf, d creamy rice n d sambal.
@@WKurniawan03 “the taste is meh”. A comment usually came from a person that loves sandwiches from a grocery store lol
Turkish lunch definitely win with price, quantity & quality. It also the most complete lunch with just around 5 usd range. For the most value meal, Viet Nam win with the fried rice & chicken combo.
That's because 1 dollar/euro equals 10 Tele in Turkey. In Turkey that meal would be like expensive (average price for a meal like that) that means the meal costs 50 lire. So only 5 dollars
@@MeowMeow-tl4xh I understand what you mean. Most average local people cannot affort that lunch. It like spending 50 buck for lunch! Even average american or european cannot afford that.
@@MeowMeow-tl4xh ay kiz 10 oldu mu
@@MeowMeow-tl4xh yup 5 dollar on every country is not the same, different wage and living cost. At least we can see the unique culture
Indonesia also have that kind of lunch like Vietnam
When compared to America, you may say people get food for less money in other countries, but you need to remember that countries like korea or japan have wayyyyyy less pay rates (for example, you get 100k after working for a year in america, while you only get like 30k after working for a year in japan
In India you can get 2 piece of bread(bathure), chana masala, chilli sauce and 2-3 types of side dishes in just 0.40 USD

England *goes to Tesco’s for a meal deal*

The Turkish one is literally a feast for one, really rich.

i prefer the HK and turkish lunch. Its more complete and satisfying. Here in the phils for $2 - $5, you can get a bowl of japanese beef udon from marugame with 1 pc shrimp tempura, for local lunch, for $3 you can get a cup and half of fried rice, beef stew, soup and banana, or 2 dishes (chicken, veggies, fish) from roadside eateries, or 1 quarter char broiled chicken with unlimited rice and soup, plus ice dessert
In the tesco's near where I live, meal deals are £3 instead of £4.80, they always have been. I usually go to sainsburys though because it's closer to home.
london's lunch was the saddest thing ever
And quite funny because it's right after the Turkish one.

Its only because its everywhere now. If asia colonized the world all these dishes will be seen as plain
British and French, Italians have very good cuisine but they are all over 10 euro/meal. They don't have good meals at cheap price that most students and workers can afford daily. But in Asia, with only little money you can have good meal cooked right on spot. Even the considerated cheap fast food like McDonald's loses to street food vendors here in Vietnam.
@CZcamsrs fan And dj too still can not beat street vendors here. While the lowest price for a burger at Mc costs 4-5$, it has a small piece of meat, cheese and veggies. But with only 1$, there are thousand other vendors outthere that serve hundred type of food that you can easily grab on the street, and all of those are fresh cooked, not unhealthy fast food. So well, they chose the wrong place to make business.
The Turkish and Indonesian lunch is so worth the price and looks delicious and filling 😋.
Yeah, it's called nasi padang which originated in padang, west sumatra. But, I'm a bit upset cause she didn't order the famous beef rendang 😁
Oh and the price for nasi padang really varies. Sometimes there are the "Expensive and okay" ones, and then there are "Extremely Cheap and Amazing" This one is more to the expensive one for the indonesian standard, but she did use 2 toppings, so i don't know. Different region, different prices
@@Kenny20k it's quite normal price imo, just a bit more expensive than the standard price

as an Indonesian, I can tell u that nasi padang is not that expensive, in certain places u can get it for like 1 us dollar.
mungkin karena pertimbangan estetika, dia pilih restoran padang. bukan warung padang gan
In Bandung I can have a nasi padang with a roasted chicken just for 15.000 Rupiah (1.1 dollar) lol
In Jambi you can get a Nasi Padang with Rendang and extra dish with only 12.000 rupiahs lol
