  • What's up guys! In this video I explain why the 05-09 S197 Mustang model is the greatest mustang model ever created. With the perfect body style, different types of variants, and number of cars sold during the production years, I created a strong argument to why the crown belongs to this generation. I hope you enjoy!

      The 4.6's are great! For it being my first V8, I'm impressed and love that sound! On mine I have a hurst short throw, CAI, bama tune, borla long tube headers, JBA o/r midpipe and the Mac axlebacks (sounds amazing!). Next mod will be the mutha thumpr camshafts from comp cams!

    • @NateRider

      Caleb Roberts how hard were the long tubes to put on? Or price?

    • @calebroberts7067
      @calebroberts7067 Před 7 lety +1

      Jacob Justus I actually got very lucky because I purchased my '05 with borla headers already on her! However, it is very possible for you to be able to install it in your driveway (the assistance of a friend does help) because fortunately, you do NOT need to pull the motor. However, it is necessary to remove a few items that are in the way under the car such as the starter, the steering shaft from steering rack, and any other things that may be in the way. However, you do need to unbolt the motor mounts and RAISE the motor so you have clearance to install the headers. It's not the easiest job in the world as it can be a pain in the ass, but it is doable and will save you lots of $$$. One more thing: If you are on a budget or looking to buy headers for a good price, I recommend the pacesetter lt's because you get the same performance at a lower price. Here's the link: www.americanmuscle.com/pacesetter-ltheaders-black-0510gt.html

    As much as I do like the 05-09 mustang's, I really feel that they sold so great because not only because of the new cool retro design but because there was no other muscle car competition at that time. The challenger came out in 09, and the Camaro in 10. Great looking car as it was and still is you have to look at the fact that mustang had no competition from 05-09.

    I love my 2006 mustang gt. I had the option of buying a 2011 5.0, but I choose the 4.6. The 5.0 are faster, yes, but the 4.6 3v sound way better. They have that old school sound. Besides, your always going to want a faster car. Sometimes you just need to sit back and enjoy crusing in your car on a sunny day. Also it seems like everyone has a 5.0. Nice to have somthing diffrent.

    • @gorilius
      @gorilius Před 5 lety +4

      Well stated! Sure, the newest incarnation of the 5.0 is a good and efficient modern V8. However, the extra 100 HP of the 5.0 only adds about 3 to 4 tenths of a second in a 0-60 run when compared to the 2010 GT's 315HP rating. I can't praise my gold 2010 bone stock GT with the 4.6. I'm never taking it racing. For over 9 years, I've just loved everything about the car including its great sound. It's also plenty crazy fast for me.

    • @generolmatt4
      @generolmatt4 Před 5 lety

      Great points I love my 06 GT because it's easy to work on and can modify almost anything. Sound is incredible you can make it just as fast as a 5.0 for less with mods. The look is the best since the 60s in my opinion.

    I'm a young Mustang enthusiast & i have loved these machines for as long as I remember. I was about 2 (2005) when the s197 began. I remember being little about 4 or 5 & seeing these everywhere. I like the whole s197 "lineup" (2005-2009,2010-2012,2013,2014) but I agree with you on the 05 to 09. They were EVERYWHERE & still are! I do not see as many s550s on the road. After 44 years I finally bought a 2005 convertible with 88,000 miles on it, 4.0 V6. Peppy little car, good on gas. Saw this on the lot of my dealer in town and knew it would'nt sit there long. Well I have it now. you are right it looks like the style of the late 60,s to early 70,s. I am glad to here that you think this is Fords best. It is the best MODERN model created
    but the BEST model EVER was 1967 to 1969
    and the reason S197 are looking good because they have the pedigree and legacy of the older models (67 - 69)
    you can see the models after 1969 (specially from 1979) did not live as legend classic cars, because they looked like corollas
    just for the sake of MPG, they turned the beast into a rabbet

    • @NateRider
      @NateRider  Před 7 lety +2

    Do you have an aftermarket throttle body? Noticed your does the same thing mine does... Slow to drop rpms when u rev. I've got enough torque that I can rev in third, let off clutch and it's getting enough air / fuel to pull out in third on 4.10s :/

Full balanced suspension upgrade from Bilstein, Eibach, GT500 Lower control arms, GT500 strut tower, Proforged inner tie rod, Proforged Bump Steer outer tie rod and cold air breather, tune, Roush exhaust. My point ? Yes, this car just lends itself to solid upgrades and appearance wise...the best. Next upgrade , Roush supercharger ...so not worried at all about BIGGER newer motors...Thanks for a great video

    Shout out to the 3V! Maybe part of the reason for the drop in sales in 2010+ Mustangs is the introduction of the new Camaro in 2010. The 2005-2009 Mustang changed everything like you said. The retro theme lasted for several years. I think now it's transitioning out into more modern designs so that sales overseas are high. The 05-09 Stangs are getting increasingly rare to see on the street. Whenever I see one I love it! I love mine even though everything has been changed out.

    • @NateRider
      @NateRider  Před 7 lety +2

      That may be a reason why, but there is no facts to state it. Personally, I think the 2010 mustang is the worst mustang ever to be produced. I will make a video on that very shortly.

And that was on street tires. What I love about these cars is you can spend just a little money and beat a vette, Maybe not the newest ones, or a z06, but a 2004 vette and a bolt-on 2006 mustang, the mustang can win every time.I know because I did it. I own a 2011 3.7 V6 and it's a very good Mustang, especially for the horsepower and fuel efficiency combination and also longevity. Mine has nearly 225,000 miles and only have done basic simple maintenance. The engine is still factory sealed, and automatic transmission as well. Starter, alternator, and of course water pump is still factory original!

    Great video, man. I loved my 2009 GT/CS and do thing the 05-09 Mustangs are one of the top body designs.
    A few counterpoints for your arguments: (1) Sales numbers seem to vary depending on which source is used, but I don't think you can use 2008 as the year to see if people were buying these cars during the great recession. The market collapsed in September of 2008, which is the start of the 2009 model year. Therefore, the 2009 model year sales are the better year analyze. Using your source, that is 46,619. In 2010, when the economy was still bad, the 2010 Mustang sold almost twice as much as the 2009 and had to compete against the Challenger and Camaro. (2) Its so difficult to compare sales numbers from 2005-2009 with 2010-2014 because of the completion from GM and Dodge. Of course the mustang was selling more when it was the only car in the class. (3) That lack of competition is also the reason Ford didn't change much about the 05-09s. Since 2010, the mustang has had to be refreshed and updated frequently because of the competition. (4) Your argument about Ford nailing the design from the start seems to be undercut by your "large number of variants" argument. If they nailed the design, why were there so many variations? A large number of variations suggests that the design had lots of room for improvement. I think it the design was great and perfect for the time. When i first saw the 2005 mustang, I knew I knew I needed one, but it was far from perfect.
    I personally think Ford nailed it with the 2011-2012 cars (2010s look good, but still have the 5 spd and 4.6). The curved lines are even closer to the 60s cars, the interior is better and more retro, the wheels and brakes are better, and the cars have more power. I am not a big fan of the looks of the 13-14s.

    Nice video. Damn good research! Yeah, I was one of those who bought a 2008 GT new back then. Totally agree with you that stock, its kind of slow. But like you said there are so many ways to improve it. I'm kind of curious. How many miles you got on yours? How are your gaskets amd bushings holding? I got 121K on mine and so far running as good as when I bought her. No exageration. But I'm going to be doin some preventive maintenance bushing changing soon. Keep up the good work!

    I concur with the 05-09 model years; very nice classic look. I had an '06 GT that I loved and sounded sick and regret selling now. I then bought a new '14 GT to try the Coyote - very mean looking, esp in front. Love the pull after 3500 rpm but not crazy about my exhaust note with the Roush axlebacks - a bit 'clicky' for my taste. Looking to sell my black '14 prob this year and search for my perfect '06 - '09.
