Hey Prof, love your channel... though it breaks my heart to have to watch you open *collector booster boxes* X-(
I wanted to check in with you about the whatnot app because I'm having a problem with the $15 credit. I signed up and it says I am following your channel, but I didn't seem to get any credit. I even purchased $20 worth of goods on an auction but they did not apply the credit and I can't find anywhere on the site that it says I have any credit at all. I emailed their customer support already but I thought I would check in with you. From the whatnot subreddit, it seems like this is a known issue -- you might want to give viewers some forewarning about the code next time, as the $15 credit is not particularly seamless or guaranteed.

I don't really play draft so I'm curious why you say that. Could you (or anyone, frankly) elaborate?

@@curtmantle6554 sure thing. Draft boxes tend to cost about $110 or so, less than half of the price of this box. Getting $60 value out of a draft box feels bad, like in the Booster Box Game when there was only one type of box. The dollar value Prof pulled out of that first box would feel really bad coming out of a box that cost half as much. Losing half your money sucks, and he lost what, like 80? you know?
I bought 1 prerelease pack of this set and nearly got the same value as his collector box lol

My favorite thing about this collector booster box is it has driven the cost of alt arts so low. I love the full art foil companions and they are like $1 each now!
Bruh you can get a Seizan for under a dollar now too iirc if you get the MUL version, compared to $11 or so for jumpstart version
Def gonna pick up some of the stuff like Yarok and the like that would otherwise be crazy expensive before now as a result
Kinda crazy how Seizan was like $30 before its first reprint, but a one-two punch between J22 and MOM dropped it from chase to bulk.

For those of you who may be wondering. The professor’s whatnot streams are really fun and he has a lot of insightful stuff to share about our dear game. It’s worth the time for that alone. Plus I got some really cheap metazoo decks from him… somewhere. He sent them but I don’t remember what I did with them. THANKS PROFESSOR!
We all know the professor is just as addicted to cracking packs as we are. That’s why he ”does it for us.”
He likes cracking packs. We like cracking packs. He cracks open packs for us. I see that as an absolute win.
That's why he'll be supporting WOTC no matter what they do. No matter how many Pinkertons they hire. WOTC will get his money.
I am a C+ student at Tolarian Community College, which also makes me the perfect WotC mark. I got back into Magic after a 12 year hiatus because of 40k Commander decks, and after watching so many of The Professor's content in the past for product reviews I figured I would be immune to collectors boosters....I wasn't prepared. They are gambling. I haven't bought a box of Collectors yet, but every week before the local pinball tournament, I walk over to the Local Game Store in the same center and pick up 1 or 2 to open after an evening of pinball. The LGS owner is certainly delighted to see me again, especially since the only other game I play is Heroclix that no store in my city carries. Now I'm a regular again, spending a good amount on a Local Business and getting in my opinion good value. I sometimes hit it big (Foil Praetors, Tutors, ect) but even the chaff feels nice from foil double sided tokens to showcase art to where I don't throw it away like a lot of players do. How do I retain my C status other than buying from a LGS? I still buy singles! Neon Kamigawa Collectors boosters only have one thing I want and it's the Lands. Brothers War Transformers are so cheap I have a display set of them showcasing both sides of the card at once. Still buy singles people, and if you must buy collectors, it's a lottery ticket that should be bought from your Local Game Store that provides a roof over your head and a table for play.

Probably as long as the Pinkerton community is going to be milking that time they were hired to get some cardboard toys back.
There is no "situation". Men were hired as private security and detectives to go to the house of someone who had just leaked a multi million dollar company's important new release which they had held secret and for which the "hype" is worth quite a lot of company value. Did I mention it was within the company's rights to not only approach the customer for the illegally leaked product? So far as we know: no one was hurt, no one was threatened with being hurt, no weapons were drawn, it's not even known if weapons were carried, no one has said they were cruel or mean or rude, no one was touched. They were there as representatives of the company so as to not endanger a company official in case the customer turned violent and had weapons of their own. Oh no, they said hey "Give us these back or we might sue you or you might face jail time for knowingly leaking an entire set of our product which we've worked years to build up to". If you think it's a "situation" because a company dared send private security and detectives instead of their own people after they said they were repeatedly ignored through other means of communication, I don't know what to tell you. The leaker should have responded AND he should have been smarter than to leak an entire set that was supposed to be very special for MTG. No sympathy for him unfortunately, he should have acted like an adult.

Woof, those boxes were pretty painful. Thank you for taking the hit for our entertainment, Prof. It's due to your videos that I will likely never buy collector boosters (packs OR boxes), simply because I hardly ever see anyone pull anything to justify the bloated costs.

For my part I only buy bundles or pre-release boxes at my local events. So far I bought 2 bundles of MOM and got way over the retail price in value,somehow. So im happy with my purchases
@@chariot2523 honestly it's been a while since I bought anything but a few draft packs. I like to draft at my lgs and I occasionally pick up some packs to crack for fun but between the less than stellar financial return on boxes and my general disinterest in the recent sets (plot and gameplay both, double whammy there) I haven't invested a ton of money in bulk. Singles all the way for me now

On my first MOM bundle I got Urabrask,Sheoldred (showcase) and Atraxa and on my second I got Urabrask (showcase),Sheoldred and the blight dragon (showcase). Couldn't be happier about those pulls :D

I just got my Commander boxes from the kickstarter. I am sOOooooo stoked and the treasure tokens are so nice. they are a great addition and bonus, they are some of the nicest tokens I own! Thanks so much for the opportunity to be part of that and I look forward to using them for many many years. (also the gem stone d20 is amazing! also one of my fave die I own now, so much excite!).
Whenever I hear "Future Cha Cha" on these videos, I immediately dance like a mad man. That song freaking slaps Prof!
The thing is, so many of these different treatments and alternate versions of cards are super nice looking, but as you illustrate time and time again, you can buy those singles for so little money in most cases (and a better value than buying packs or boxes in all cases)!

A neat idea for future "booster box" games could be to leave a small counter with the amount of cards with price above $2, because im halfway box 2, and its fun to see how about 3 cards were the only ones to add to the cash pool, big oof

The fact the second box was worse UP UNTIL pulling Atraxa, Praetors Voice shows this set isn't just disappointing but these boxes are near valueless. I like my shiny blinged out cards as much as the next MTG player but I'd rather save for the shiny cards *I want* than just hope to God I pull them in packs.
Yeah 40% of the box value tied up in one card is straight up gambling.

I definitely think we should milk it until an apology is issued at the very least. It’s absolutely absurd that level was taken in the first place. Hell just look at Bungie who just won a lawsuit against a cheat developer/seller. Message received loud and clear. No Pinkertons needed.
