**Thanks For Watching This Video**
Since this show was first released, we have gained over 100K subscribers. So many new subs have never seen it. It's a revised edit released in 4K, and in one instead of two episodes. Ad breaks are also reduced to a minimum. Enjoy the trip!
I'm from Arizona and love the mountains. All that flat driving would make me crazy!
We just love long flat driving, like across and up the Nullarbor north of the Trans Line…
Love ❤️ Outback Australia 🇦🇺 & for many years I travelled alone virtually everywhere I went, from the Gulf of Carpentaria, the Simpson Desert, Kimberly region & also the Canning Stock Route. Never had an argument, disagreement on any of these trips whatsoever 😂. I was heavily criticised for doing this, I was told it was dangerous to travel on my own. 🤷🏼♂️
It's only dangerous if you don't take precautions. A long range radio, eperb or even just telling someone when you'll be back.
Take a sat phone and first aid kit…
Handy Outback Rescue Vehicle... The Big Red Car, enough room for 4 Wiggles & a Dinosaur..
I absolutely love these solo videos. The places you go are amazing and the way you talk about and explain your surroundings is so exciting for me. It really strikes a chord in me. Well done Andrew!
This episode was of the standard of your Canning Stock route series.
It felt really great to watch this show.....the whole content is very detailed....just loved it....Thank you Sir
I always look forward to your inspirational and quality videos. Keep it up. Follower from Zambia.
Hey Brian I lived in Zambia from 1957 to 1963 in Ndola ! Where are you ? Oh I am in Canada !
That red earth gets me every time. Fab trip!
Beautiful Andrew, pandemic has kept me away from Australia, you’ve reminded me how stunning it is. Thank you
I felt so inspired by watching this. I spent thousands and thousands on a new 4x4, roof tent conversion, shocks tyres, etc. Then I too packed my vehicle for my big expedition to the Holiday Inn. Overlanding....living the dream 😜
Perth to Yamarna Station at the start of the Anne Beadell Highway is a solid effort in one day. Also the town is Leonora not Lenora. I was drilling on that station in 2017. The new local gold mine back then was still in exploration and was called Gruyere Gold Mine. I criss crossed that station with a drill rig for 3 months straight doing over 200kms every few days and stayed at the station in a caravan.
I can relate to solo travel. Done most of of my solo travels on a DR650. Currently kitting an MQ Triton so my wife can come join me. So looking forward to getting out there again now that lockdiown is coming to an end.
Very inspiring. I'm always running my eye over your rig for ideas to use.
thanks for amazing video...I don't travel much, it's been interested to see the outback i really enjoy watching,i do like how speak very neat
to undestand very good quality film is better then waching TV, I spend more time on youtube, and also like the background music Thankyou again Andrew...
Makes you appreciate the Landcruiser even more. The most remote parts of Australia and that is your only and greatest weapon. I guess it did not miss a beat?
What a wonderful world, stunning. Thank You. Russell
Makes me miss the Kalahari even more, the remoteness, the wildlife, the lion roars! Let me search through your old videos. I’m still in love with that one of your solo drive through the CKGR…the one you did twice after suffering a puncture on the first attempt.
Sketchiest range calcs ever lol ❤
I loved it Andrew. Solo camping is underrated. Thanks for taking is along.
Not seeing another human was my favourite part of travelling Australia
Thanks for yet another GREAT Andrew, much appreciated!!!!!
Andrew at 63 and a traveler of Europe mostly, I also subscribe to Mels van life channel and very much agree with his statement posted here but I also feel a little jealous at the adventures I witness on both channels …. Take care, Stay safe and keep up the good work both of you ………………
Absolutely love your videos they keep me focused on where I want to be 👍🤓👍
Geez I love these videos. Mike
Thank you Andrew for a really great video. I thoroughly enjoyed it and your presentation was absolutely top class.
Bloody beautiful Andrew, nice episode. Thank you very much.👍
Love what you did with the sound during the time you were on the satphone. Nice.
One of my favorite all time CZcams videos of any of my followed channels. Thank you for the new 4K release!
G'day Andrew, This has been a great video & I have enjoyed it immensely, any trip out into the Nullarbor does it for me as it's the most beautiful desolate place I know.
I have added this trip to my bucket list for when we finish fitting out our truck & I think we will take 2 or 3 weeks just taking or time to explore & enjoy it, thanks' again.
Safe Travels Mate, Steve.
Beautiful genius exploring the mind through Beauty... tremendous inspiration...be blessed with fully of experiencing 😁😁😍🤩🥰
Always look on the bright side of life!!
Great Video again. But beside the landscape, the driving, the car.. im really impressed by the sun glasses with integrated bottle opener! Cool feature. Stay safe. Cheers
Epic episode thanks Andrew
Thank you, I really enjoyed this video.
So glad!
@@4xoverland if I ever had the money, I’d ask you to modify my car. Please keep doing what you’re doing.
Thanks for your videos andrew, as much as i get saddened by how lonely i am here in new zealand, i do crave such escapes as you're doing, call me jealous of those gorgeous landscapes
I watch all your video's Andrew and they are all good and the best part???
You making us feel welcome!
Mate, we fenced all day in 42c, Try over 50c, To hot for my Battery System, My 12v fridge freezer , 220 litre would only run for 30 seconds, Luckily ,mid afternoon a large storm built up , Didn't hit us but was close ,so temperature dropped 15c, what a relief , hit fridge switch , worked, Storm saved my food 😀🤠🇦🇺
Love your work Andrew 👍
Another lekker video Boetie !love it .
I would have loved to see your video of the drive south to the Trans Line then west via Zanthus to Kalgoorlie which we have done in Smoky… in 2010. Just love being alone with you Andrew in the Real Outback surrounded by Bluebush and Saltbush of the GREAT VICTORIA DESERT. I did Neale Junction from Balladonia with the GSWA on two 1965 Land Rovers in 1965, and was being paid!
1st lol and in the UK to!! Keep the good viewing up Andrew
Hi Andrew, as always brilliant video. Always look forward to my ASPW fix. Thanks mate.
Great episode, was somewhat sad when it end
The Wildpeaks MT are my choice too. Really great tyre for all conditions. Steve 🇦🇺
El mítico Land Cruiser, que máquinas más extraordinarias, sólo Toyota puede fabricar estas maravillas. Saludos desde Chile
I don’t take to kindly to cats that don’t like CZcams 😂
Oh and try the lashes on tap..
On another level🍻
Love your videos keep up the amazing work hope one day I get to meet you in person
Living in Las Vegas 41c isn’t too bad the nights are amazing. Going off roading were there are no people is something I get.
Loved this video, you make me want to take my style side of my car and put aluminium tray on it
Big like
Hello Andrew, I enjoy your videos very much. Thank you for sharing. I believe you have mentioned in at least one other video like this one where you do not feel relaxed at night. I hope you can find the reason for this. When l solo camp usually l sleep throughout the entire night and morning without waking up until l am fully restored for a new day. Cheers to you. Jason from Melbourne Victoria.
Didn’t you miss Gwynn? Because we did. LOL good trip mate thank you Andrew.
That is going to be my new Term: Isolation Fix. Gotta get out!!
Watched this on the ‘Anne Beadell Highway’ Facebook page 👍
"Always look on the bright side of life"
Wonderful video Andrew. I really appreciated your observation that sleeping alone at night in the bush can bring with it an element of tension, would love to hear you expand on that. Thanks again for an amazing trip shared.
It's Troopy country out there. I'm surprised you haven't gone back since. Its the largest desert in Australia and its our favourite. We took our daughter from Kalgoorlie there this year in May - no Covid restrictions and went Laverton to Neale Junction. Plenty of camps - Point Sunday, Neale Junction - you made no mention of the spectacular Neale Breakaways. We also came in via Plumridge Lakes but we like to take the Lake Rason Road back to Laverton because its a lot more interesting than Cable Haul. Plenty left there for you to do, and if you like come across the border into South Australia - its a veritable botanic garden in the desert.
Just rereading Lens books on making those roads
best video yet great stuff andrew
My name is Michael Beadel. I am fascinated to hear of Len Beadell as many of my distant relations have this spelling. Also there is a trend of surveyors in the family 0ne surveying the rail route from London to Bristol for Brunel.
Andrew, great vid. That vehicle was your best for me so far. Brilliant. Great Tourer.
Me and my son did that trip in a unimog a year ago after watching this. Unimog big wheels didn't notice the corrgations
What happens when you bog a unimog
Thats what the sons for digging it out.
Regarding the placement of sat-phones and EPIRBS. Ronny made a vid and talked about them today but we highly recommend that you place your sat-phone or EPIRB where you can reach it easily from the driver's seat and secure it so that it will not easily end up flying into an inaccessible corner if you have a rollover or severe accident. Just imagine having the right gear but being trapped in the driver's seat after a severe crash and not being able to call for help. Also, the idea of walking 65 km to help is a really bad idea in the outback. Rule No.1 is stay with your vehicle unless you are 100% sure you can reach help. 65 km in the outback heat would be highly dangerous. I should finish by saying awesome video though :)
That goes without saying though... sat phones or in reach devices aren’t cheap, so best not have them rolling around in the back ay...
@@RyanYoxo you would hope that would be the case but from what we have seen on our travels, it often isn't.
Epic content
104+ F…that is hellish
Beautiful video Andrew, I too crave solitude occasionally and this video made me envious! Great film work and you certainly made it entertaining and engaging. Loved it!
I’m using same tier’s on my jeep XJ but AT 32” for 5 yeas and i love them and there is lot of life left on tiers after 5 years i have spartan aromatic locker in back and some times it not disengage when I’m turning on less it’s 90 degrees tern and I don’t have spare tier my spare is lot smaller and i did lot of affording and is where good on rain but MT will be not good when is raining I guess
I hope you picked up the 4K Costa cup at the end,
If you had a touch of fuel anxiety on this trip imagine doing it with an electric vehicle !
Headlamps-- try mammut headlamps I have had them for 15 years-- very bright not one issue.
Half decent reliable vehicle, some nous, sufficient fuel, food, water, navigation, spares, recovery gear, camera gear and Sat Phone. Comfy bedding, then go for it!
Wait a minute, that looks like Teva 🩴 sandals!
Hi Andrew, this video it’s just we expect from you, but the last two years you’ve been mostly going to go a build 4x4 track. I know it’s not a fresh video, but l think it’s gonna be a solo trip like this. Ted Overlander.
20:08 "My planet, Arrakis, is so beautiful when the sun is low. Rolling over the sands, you can see spice in the air." Chani, Dune (2021)
Amazing serenity! where do I get one of those drivers door arm rests?
Hi Andrew nother great show I was just wondering what if any uhf do you use
The wind is due to the inland heating up and air rises and so the air comes rushing in from the sea. Its a major factor over in WA!
Wouldn't the air flowing in from the ocean have a cooling effect?
@@philipjooste9075 yes near the coast but he is some 700km from the coast
This is very far from the coast. It has little if any effect.
I noticed on the map at 31:01 a boundary line with "Warning - 1080 poison risk" and what I make out as "Warning to travellers This area is continuously baited with S7 "1080"" WTF - can anyone explain this to me?
What do you mean? They bait for pests like foxes.
@@veneratedmortal4369 Why would you want to poison wild animals? Seems FU to me!
They inject pieces of meat with 1080 poison and then drop the pieces from a helicopter every so often, its to try and control wild dogs, I suspect it also kills dingoes and other native animals
Wonder if we will we see some new overlanding, on this overlanding channel? Western Australia is plenty big enough!
I'm not too proud to admit if I was to spend even 1 night alone in an area this remote I would probably start thinking about wild animals, serial killers, ghosts, aliens...and I'd probably be taken home in a Careflight chopper! haha!
March, blistering heat wave - LOL no, just the normal weather. We never used to go north until late April and sometimes it was still stinking hot. This seems like rather a late drop for this vid?
Its a rerelease in 4K and the whole series as one video, the original series was released a few years ago before he started on the dream tourer
@@ilove2explore possibly the only good thing sbout having dementoa is being able to watch something I have seen before and enjoy it as if I had never seen it...
The North gets very hot doesn't matter what time of the year you go I find the south much better dwellingup and just outside lane pool reserve
I live in the Netherlands, love to be on my own while camping, looked on the map of Europe .....no chance ....
Hi Andrew as always I thoroughly enjoy your trips away, one question I do have is I noticed that you have your UHF Radio antenna on the roof do you get it knocked by a tree branch or have you had it broken the reason I ask is I was thinking of doing the same. Have a great day. Mike
41 degrees.... as a Norwegian who just spent my last camping trip in the snow that sounds absolutely unbearable!
Hi Andrew I enjoyed this the second time around as much if not more than the first. I'm planning a trip out that way myself and like yourself am a little concerned about the fuel consumption . I would appreciate if you or one of your viewers could tell me is fuel available at Rawlinna.
Hi Stephen, there's no public fuel at Rawlinna. There is a rail camp and a disused lime mine which has a diesel tank, if you time it right and bump into the right crew on the day, they may sell you some diesel or trade some for a bottle of rum :) If your'e coming down the Connie Sue, Cocklebiddy on the Eyre Hwy is your closest fuel. Just a friendly warning though, do not attempt this track if the area has had a lot rain.
Thanks for that I'll just add two extra gerry cans which I was hoping not to have to carry but rather be safe than sorry.
Cheers
Blimey, it seems like when God finally made Australia He ran out of ideas on what to put in it… Please forgive my sourness, but, coming from a VERY mountainous country, I feel like this vast emptiness has devoured me
Depends where in Australia you are though haha, if you’re in the great dividing range you would think this country is nothing but mountains
Solo travelling is one of life's best experiences. You look like you really enjoyed it.
Btw, I'm desperately trying to source myself an amber/white/red led light for my Toyota without success so far. And then I saw your Lumina amber light and thought I'd ask you for advice.
Would you please be so kind as to direct me to the right direction? I'm located in Europe yet I'm happy with international shipping.
National Luna make some very nice lights. They are a south African brand but do a good job with their lights.
@@4xoverland Thanks for your quick answer. Appreciated
Hi from Wyoming-- how did you like your new tires compared to BFG?
Now Andrew, are you familiar with what is colloquial known as "getting a traveller". Being that you drive a lot I would think you have experienced this phenomenon and was curious if this condition is exaggerated when driving over severely corrugated road?
Must be nice to have a very understanding wife.
Any chance of a billtong how to episode?great Chanel
Love your vids, particularly the Southern African ones, top cinematography editing and narration, I do however find the scenery of the Australian outback somewhat plain all the same and not very picturesque, I truly think your amazing talents are wasted in that flat boring repetitive lackluster scenery, I would love to see you and Jeremy do South America, like Mexico to Argentina, now that would be absolutely epic.
Australia has everything like most countries. He chooses the flat arid bit because he likes it.
I also like it. 800 miles to the nearest person, and all sorts of wild flowers, bird life. The best bit, the stars in the sky. The sothern hemisphere always can see the milkyway and it covers the whole sky, horizon to horizon. Also all kinds of wildlife eagles, lizards, bees, marsupials. You really need to actually look to find beauty sometimes.
We also have rainforest, mountains, rolling farmland, epic huge forests, magical beaches, reefs, resort tropical islands. Again like everywhere, not saying its the best. Some people like the desert. Perhaps you would if you were willing to look.
@@veneratedmortal4369 I trust you have seen his Southern African video's, also where I am from, maybe we are a bit spoiled here with the beauty and diversity we have, and that's why I am not much impressed with the Aus outback, speaking as one of Andrews video viewers, we have now seen the Aus outback (all looks the same to us), maybe its time for something different like your epic huge forests and perhaps the Snowy Mountains and one or two other unique places in Aus. Then to increase his viewership astronomically, the Great South American Overland Adventure-Mexico to Argentina.
@@pounceonyou1958 that's not up to me. The typical beautiful areas are quite populated. Even the less populated bits like the gib River road with its Georges and ranges Andrew thought was too touristy.
I'm not saying Australia is the best as you are about SA. All countries are beautiful and there is beauty even in the simplest of places. Yes the middle of Australia is flat in a lot of areas but that gives it a unique charm. It's also harsh and a challenge.
SA looks very similar to outback Australia too me.
@@pounceonyou1958 You have to remember the pandemic prevented our host from doing his North American trip and we hope that he will be able to travel unimpeded again soon.
I agree with you about the outback from what we've been shown. Just huge distances of the sameness and devoid of any real wild life. The scenery is at times similar to the Kalahari but there is just nothing (no sightings) to break the monotony. I only just learnt that the Australian authorities put out poison to control predators - a practise we seriously frown on in SA.
I get the solo part and "getting away from it all" but sorry to say, outback Oz is not much more than a wasteland; a man-made ecological disaster.
@@veneratedmortal4369 For the person going out into nature no matter where, it is enjoyable, however for the youtube viewer, seeing the same thing over and over, will become boring and they will click to something else, and as Andrew is an excellent film maker, I think it would be a waste of his amazing talent to show the viewer the same place (Aus outback) over and over because it is the only place where he can get 800 miles away from the nearest person, and I did not say SA was the best, just that we are a bit spoiled with what we have. For the sake of increasing his viewership and hence revenue from youtube, if of course that is important to him, then some new places/regions/countries would certainly bring in more viewers.
What is the apparatus on the left rear corner of the roof ? Quite interesting I will say.
You'd get even better fuel economy if you chose A/T falken wildpeaks, i have them and my fuel economy has gone from 12L/100km to 9-10L/100km (toyota prado 90)
Guys, you have over 40°C temperature 🌡️, that's too hot
Did you happen to drive past a bogged semi on this trip?
If you see Ronnie out there say hello 😀
Andrew! I know it is a subjective thing but do you have any camp chair recommendations?
That is good question. Let’s see who sponsor him in this answer…
In a video, a long time ago, he compared some chairs, mainly based on confort and strength. I don't remember much, but he complained about a chair that had a support running in the front, under the legs. He noted how unconfortable it was after a while of sitting. The other chairs had a "barless" front and the legs would sit more naturally.
@@big5astra
That is my exact issue. I will have a look at those. Cheers man.
If I told you, you'd think the answer was sponsored. So I won't bother.
@@4xoverland Any hints? I think the 4x4 community knows better than to accuse you of shilling.
