LOOP/RESTRUCTURE MultiTrack BACKING TRACKS LIVE w/Stage Traxx 3:Part 2

- In today's video, we are checking out Stage Traxx 3 for looping and re-structuring multi track backing tracks live. This is part 2 in my video series about Stage Traxx 3, and this powerful feature allows you to reorganize backing tracks live on the fly. So you never have to stick to the exact structure of a backing track live and repeat parts, or loop sections, or extend parts live if you want to. Plus, you can also send 6 different audio tracks out of your ipad/iphone with one cable (guitar, drums, bass, synth, piano, and click all on separate channels for example). Very powerful.

Hi Scott !
Thanks for your amazing work making videos!
I have a question. Can I use the stage Traxx app like you did, but with the
Behringer X Air XR 16? Can I use the USB port of the XR 16 like you did with the XR 18 ?
I'm planning to buy a behringer X air so that's what I'm asking 😊
Thanks for your help!
Scott, you are a godsend with all these tutorials 😭😭😭😭 Thank you for taking the time. I’ve learned so much and have managed to set up my own live rig by mainly utilizing your channel. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you! I’m glad to hear that 🤘🤘

Amazing vid, I really like your approach - you don't bs about it being easy like others do, you clearly explain the whole config proces and reasons why you do what you do. Really appreciate it!
I’m glad to hear that! Sometimes I wonder if I give too much detail, but I’m glad to hear that it’s helping others out 🤘
Love your videos man and you being time effective. Thanks a lot.
I appreciate that!
I was using Multitracker based on an earlier video of yours, but I like this app much better. Fantastic videos!
Really useful content, thanks for taking the time to put this together.
Thank you! I appreciate that 😊
Thanks Scott! I really like your informative videos.
Thank you 😊
I downloaded this immediately after watching your first video. Love it so far. It's got so many features, it insane. Cant wait to learn more in this video too.
Thanks! And yeah, this video is definitely more complex than the initial video, but really cool features!
Now Ive watched this I'm even more excited. I'm hoping that I can do the splits via usb on my Behringer Flow 8. I'm not sure though, probably too small. Will be testing that as soon as I'm home from work tonight.
again, an outstanding tutorial!
Great video. Thanks Scott
Learned a lot., this is the most comprehensive video of ST3. Thanks much for this in-depth walkthrough, Scott. Looking forward for the part 3. Keep it up!

Dude! So helpful, this I has got to be selling thousands of apps, much appreciated
Great video! My band is slowly migrating to a backing track system, and this app is perfect for our needs, and then some! Thanks for sharing Scott!
My 90s band recently switched to tracks, and this app is a godsend!
Love the ability to mix different instruments/channels, super flexible when using different variety of musicians at different gigs. Being able to extend sections of the song through repeating and reordering makes backing tracks a viable option for me, it’s great being able to respond to the audience for a more natural live experience. Thanks Scott!
This app is truly incredible!
Great video Scott and very detailed explained. Thanks a lot! This app is great! I am considering to use it with my band.
Thanks! It’s worth it for sure 🤘
Thank you, Scott!
This is amazing!!!!....thanks a lot...great job tutorial...❤❤❤
Glad you liked it!
Great video, now onto part three, the MIDI is what I've been waiting for!
🤘🤘
Wow!!! Looks super complicated, but like some of your other videos, once I got the item or software etc, it became much more clear. I will definitely want to give this baby a try. Thanks for your time and videos. See you on the next one!
Awesome Video Scott = You have totally sold me !!!
Right on! 🤘
😳😳🤯🤯🤯 I like it. This changes everything.
It’s pretty amazing!
Thanks - great and informative video 😊
Very nice explanation. The looping feature is FIRE! The XR18 stuff is very useful too.
Thanks! And yeah, this changes the game for backing tracks!
Finally! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!

Good stuff, thanks for all the effort videos like this takes to create.

I am looping crazy for this video! 😄
It definitely 🤯🤯🤯 when I found out it could do this
Great video as ever. Incredibly useful. Looks like it’s going to take over onsong as my new app
It took over for me as well 🤘
Thank you for the amazing review. It is very time consuming to record 300 songs track by track. A lifetime work. Good luck Scott!
Yeah I’m literally in the process of re exporting as stems now haha
Awesome!
🤘
Thank you so much for making my life a looooot easier
Happy to help!
Im about to pull the trigger on a b beat but this looks like a very viable and feature loaded option since i already have an ipad pro. Ty so much for all your videos man. Cheers from Toronto
Wow we ( The John Cubbin Band ) are just starting to look at backing tracks midi lighting and video etc and you will be our bible - thanks Scott
Glad to help!!
Great info Scott.
Thanks for watching!
I'm really liking this! I will need to get a newer iPad so the app will work (my iPad is pretty old and due for replacement), looking forward to the next installment in this series!
I need to upgrade just for more storage since I use this iPad for backing tracks and solo set looping sometimes, it’s starting to run out of space. But it’s worth it for sure. ST3 is awesome 🤘
What a super informative video.
This could easily be a high paid course.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you 🙏
Another VERY informative and interesting video!
Thanks!
Bought the app because of this video. Thanks!
Excellent choice 💪
Fantastic, I am definitely switching apps if I can get this to run on my older iPad!
It's worth it!
Thanks Scott - looking forward to part 3 on the midi capabilities … if I can run my lights from this then I’m 100% in!
Yup you can! Just need a lighting controller that accepts midi 🤘
the looping feature is amazing l. gotta get this
I know! It’s pretty 🤯🤯🤯
Great Video, thanks. This app is awesome.
It really is!
Excellent tutorial!!!
Thanks!
I was not quite sure how this multitrack output will work but this description was exactly what I was looking for
Glad it makes sense 👍 I’m switching all my tracks over to that method now
Great video Scott! You are really selling me on this app regardless of the give away. Keep up the great content
Thanks Shaun!

Thank you, Trying to do the "one man band thing"... started with multi-tracker and have recently been messing with loopy pro, gonna watch your videos again, This might just be the answer.... so much to learn, so little time.
🤘
wow.. a lot of features, I had to watch this twice
Yeah, this one is more advanced than the first one. But that’s what I love about this app 🤘
Man, this app. I’ve been looking for something that I can add to ForScore for backing tracks, but this app will take my pdf charts plus any backing or multi tracks and handle it all. Yeah, I’d love to get the full version of this. Thanks so much for the videos!
It does everything! 🤘🤘

@@ScottUhlMusic So cool! Thanks so much Scott! I sent a message via your website.
Enjoying this series. Currently playing with the free version. I’ve managed to select the correct patch on my Nord for each of the six songs. You have to do [midi: CC0.1@1, CC32.0@1, PC15@1] all in one string to get the command to work properly.
Oh interesting! I didn’t know you could combine them
Great video Scott, it’s a very cool app very useful. I’m very interested in seeing how well it works with midi on your third video
The midi is great!
Damn. Impressive. Looking forward to the MIDI video. I'm still using BandHelper with Soft Step/Voicelive, but I can see switching over for this if the MIDI features are similar.
I love the midi in stage Traxx 3. The video will be out on Thursday 🤘
I’ve come from band helper and the midi is much more user friendly.
great program. started working with looping. which i had more than six tracks
You can get 12 outputs in mono 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic that’s not the point though. i like the ability to turn off instruments. only have four usb inputs on my mixer so have to turn them off in the audio routing. therefore, i only have six. maybe i will upgrade at some point and use the mixer
I would suggest combining things. Like click and cues together, string/synth/keys together, etc. hopefully that helps 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic yup. do that already. want to separate drums from bass and ran out of tracks so they are combined into rhythm.
Thanks so much for this. Don’t think I would do Multi track as it would get to be to much for me to do live. Rather do it the way you have it now take bass out of one and guitar/keyboard out of another and have 3 different color coded tracks. Anyway, during pandemic I made baking tracks for all songs my country/ Americana type band use to play and now have great way to play them. They sound really good.
Yeah exactly, that’s what makes stage Traxx so great! Muting drums and or bass when I play with them live, or adding them in with one button press. Really smart!
It would be nice if it could have more tracks. Definitely it has plenty of outputs at 8 though! The thing I like about Multitracker is I can load Keys, Percussion, Strings, Horns, and SFX as separate tracks, and route them all to the same Tracks output, and that way I can mix them on the fly and not have to go back to Ableton. I almost do the same as you for the others, Drums, Bass, Track, Click, Cue. I like the idea of a separate backing vox track, I may do that.
With the panning feature, you can get away with up to 12 different mono tracks 🤘 I find that 6 is actually perfect for me and my bands.
I agree. The hard panning is an ok work around but I would rather have the multitracker style with more tracks available. Stage Traxx 3 is my go to app for my solo, and I love it, but I'm moving to multitracker for my band for that exact reason. GREAT vid, Scott.
At first I thought that this may be a bit beyond what I could actually use. Not anymore. If I saw this in the IOS store, I would have passed it up. But now how you explain it, I did download the demo. Going back over Part one multiple times so this A.D.D> head of mine can wrap around it. Can't thank enough for how you present you contact. Thanks. Impatiently waiting #3.
Awesome! Glad to hear it. I didn’t kind of skip over it too when I first downloaded it, but the potential is insane!
Auch hier wieder große Begeisterung über das Video und der vorgestellten App!
Thanks Scott, awesome vid a always ! This app is almost perfect, the only drawback I see is that you are limited to 6 stems at the same time, 8 or 10 would be perfect so that we can also separate other instruments (such as piano, brass or sfx). Also speed shifting for multitrack would be awesome for practice. If you get a chance to highlight those improvements to them, please do :)
I’ve seen a few people in the comments mentioning that… I honestly think 6 is plenty, and my advice would be to combine stuff: strings, piano and brass all together and stuff like that. Or click and cues. Or you can also use the headphone out too. Just my two cents. Glad the video helped 🤘
@@ScottUhlMusic Thanks for reading the comments :) I agree with you, combining is needed at some point, especially when you see how many files you can output from karaoke version. The limit of 6 is just a bit too low to enable the full flexibility in some bands (with cues, click and backing vocals taking 3 slots, you only have 3 left for the other instruments which is not enough in my opinion), multitracker keeps the advantage on this. One more thing I find is missing is the ability to import chordpro format as lyrics (you have to switch to .txt), or retrieve chords from website like ultimate guitars (like some other apps do). That being said, this app is the best out there :)
You’re so good at these videos!! Bravo again. Just a note on your choice about maybe switching to usb… if you upgrade to a new iPad at some point, you might have to, as it’s hard to get one with a headphone output now. And in my experience the usb c to headphone dongle is horrendous… when we changed iPad we had to get a usb c hub so then we could use a usb DI box, so maybe your usb x air routing has the most longevity… provided you don’t ever use anything smaller than the x air 18. We have an x air 12 so don’t have the direct multitrack usb option unfortunately.
Yeah, I prefer the headphone out to be honest for sure, I feel like the lighting can get unplugged easily
Scott. Brah. While I completely understand the VALUE in looping segments of a song in live performance… the nerd factor is OFF THE CHARTS. To be clear, it is unlikely that I personally, am destined to be a PROFESSIONAL musician of your caliber - u sir are awesome!
Haha thanks man 🤘
@ScottUhlMusic quick question... I have a new Evolve 50m and am interested in using ST3 from my iPad which has BT interface to the EV. Do you have any experience with this type of setup? To be clear, I am asking as a precursor to just booking some one on one time with you... jus sayin. You are the real 💯 and I appreciate 🙏
I have both the EV50 and Stage Traxx but I’ve never streamed to stage Traxx to the EV. I use Bluetooth for break music usually
Your videos are stellar man! Keep up the great work! Question.... if I download files individually from Karaoke Version and get the click (along with instrument tracks), how do I extend the click to start earlier than the song start in Stage Traxx 3?
That’s a step I go over in this video: czcams.com/video/nw8wZfFSQ2w/video.html
I might need to buy an iPad someday just to use this app!
It’s worth it!
Hi, Scott! Talking about multiTrack Outputs configuration in live performances: you show us an excellent option to mute (off) tracks/channels on Audio Routing setings (12:22). I think Stage Traxx3 developer ( www.youtube.com/@stagetraxx ) could add a new menu/page with Global outputs for all the songs like a master mixer output. This option is available for each song, but we can't use it for all the songs and playlists. It would be easier to mute/unmute tracks in different situations
Hi Scott, thank you so much for these videos (and all of your others - I subscribed after watching your hx stomp midi tutorials).
Quick question - what's the name of the mixing app you're using at around 9:55 please?
Or do any of you other guys know?
Thanks
It’s called Mixing Station. I use that to mix my xr18 and my x32. It works amazingly well!
Thanks for another outstanding tutorial. Will Master tuning work to change the key for multitrack?
Yes it does now 👍 When this video came out they didn’t have that feature. But now you can 🤘
Your tutorial is incredible Scott, well done!!
One question - can you control switching in between the loop regions (if you need to restructuring the song) with a midi foot controller?
Thanks! And you can jump to any part of the song you have a region for. You can repeat the verse 1 then go to bridge then go to solo then go back to verse 1 if you wanted to. With a midi controller there is no “go to first region, go to second region, go to 3rd region” command that I know of, but you can “go to next region” and “loop current region”
@@ScottUhlMusic you’re the man! Thanks a lot! Any good advice for a suitable midi controller?
I try to use a Melo Audio, but it doesn’t cooperate well.
This one is great: czcams.com/video/g9pNIVm2rrM/video.htmlsi=jfCQPFp-UKbx5uk4
