  • This is the final circular ride that takes the 2023 Yamaha MT-07 up to the 600 mile target before its first service. It’s the. Officially run-in.
The circuit takes us over to Hawkhurst, Battle, Bexhill-On-Sea and then up towards Mayfield, Wadhurst and then back to the beginning in Flimwell.
We test a new SatNav App, namely Calimoto which gives good clear visual prompts and generally behaves itself, but the sound glitches and after a quiet start soon descends into complete glitchy gobbledegook. Another SatNav Fail!
We have fun watching the antics of some van drivers and take in some stunning views.
Join me on the final ‘Running In’ adventure before we take the bike to the Garage for its first service.

I'm struggling ATM because I have an A2 License and am hoping to get my car license soon. But I really want the MT-07, Tracer 700 or I go BMW way and get the G 310 GS or F 750 GS.
    So many choices!!!

It’s difficult isn’t it? Ducati have just muddied the water for me by dropping the new Hypermotard 698 into the mix.
That thing looks like really good fun.
My previous biking experience was with an R1, so I’m always drooling over litre naked bikes too, BMW S1000R or MT-10. I think at some point I’m going to have to scratch that litre bike itch again.
I think it’s natural to always have an eye on your next bike, car or whatever.
For me, I just kept returning to the MT-07, it’s the best fit for me and the riding that I like to do. In many ways it reminds me of my old Yamaha RD350LC and as a raw bike with no electronic aids, it’s unlikely to age for me & It’s probably going to be a permanent bike over here.
My best advice is consider what you’re going to use the bike for and what the roads are like near you and then go for the best fit from your wish list.
      Good luck with it all.
      Safe riding 😃✊🏍️💨

@@TeamOrrCrew Its hard because I need to focus on my career so a MT-07 would be great for everyday use BUT I would love to travel Europe on an adventure Bike, and having one would most likely push me to go travel and use the bike for its purpose.
The S1000R looks amazing ngl, I would love one but I would have to wait until I can be unrestricted in 2 years time.
      Ride Safe.

It sounds like a GS would serve you well fella, I’m no expert on them, but had a friend who used one as a daily bike and he loved it.

Calimoto is a disaster too. Just rely on the good old fashioned google maps.

I think you’re right. I’ve tried most of the dedicated bike satnavs now and each of them has some sort of fundamental flaw!
Detecht - I don’t like the way it presents its information on screen. Perhaps it’s just me, but it doesn’t give me the information I want in a format that works for me.
Calimoto - nice clear display, but the audio glitches in a big way.
Scenic - This app is just not fit for purpose with dodgy directions taking me off piste and late or untimely prompt’s creating confusion.
Beeline - I’m currently playing with this, but route editing is proving to be less than optimal. Maybe I’ll try this (just the app though, I’m not investing in the hardware) if I can overcome this initial hurdle.
After that it’s google maps or Waze (which uses the google map database anyway), or I’ll just go completely organic and ditch the satnavs completely when I’m on the bike.
      Road signs anyone? 🤔😂😂
