I’m surprised the Jedi, a group based in cooperation and negotiation didn’t try this, giving anakin a choice where one is clearly the correct one but the other is great too (leading republic forces to victory in the war). It would make him a lot less trapped and more open to the councils wishes
Its due to the fact that 4-6 exist. As such the council had to cause Anakin's fall from grace so that he turn into Darth Vader. This is now my head cannon of what would happen irl.
Lol the Jedi are hardly a group based in "cooperation". The Jedi are like any other group. They have a hierarchy and the leaders set the rules and edicts.

Nothing would change. Palpatine would still lore him with the possibility of control over mortality, and Palpatine still spread the jedi thin to isolate and kill them. Everything about the clone wars and Anakin played right into his hand. This revisionist, ego stroking, clone wars fan fiction stuff wouldn't change anything.

@Scott B You're right. It's impossible to tell. Plus, though I do kinda wish things didn't go the way they did, the prequels are a tragedy we need. I think there was a point to making things go to h3ll: showing what entitlement and a lack of vigilance can cause good people to go through.

Kind of pointless since we never saw dooku as an apprentice or Yaddle as a master. We don’t know what differences there would be because we’ve got no idea how it went down in the first place.

I think this story is 99% accurate, but I don't think Anakin would step down at the end. His distrust in the council would be completely dispelled after being granted the rank of master and honored for succeeding in destroying the Sith as the prophecy that brought him to them in the first place would have been fulfilled. Personally in stories where Anakin's relationship with the Jedi is fixed like this I think that he would have no problem admitting to the council that he was married and soon to be a father. They were a great family to him, and they would be a great family to Padme and his children, even if it was an extremely unorthodox situation. But what are they gonna do, say no? Definitely not, especially after coming to the understanding that their dogmatic rigidity as an institution was bad and that Anakin turned out fine despite doing basically everything in his whole life in ways the council didn't exactly like or understand. Plus I like to think about how unbelievably knowledgeable and powerful Luke and Leia would become if they got to train under Anakin, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and the rest of the high council
This true. It's hard to imagine Anakin agreeing to leave the Old Jedi Order. Because, Anakin was always too ambitious to leave the Old Jedi Order. And if Anakin left the Old Jedi Order just like that, then sooner or later he would begin to feel like a fish thrown onto land. We are talking about Anakin after all. And he always hated boredom. And even more always hated doing nothing. A Piloting. And Mechanics always were similar to his hobby than to his job. Because, as a Jedi, at least he had something to keep him busy all the time. For the same reason, Anakin would never have agreed to the Life of a Farmer extracting water on Tatooine. And although, Anakin as a Jedi Knight was a Jedi Guardian, it was very interesting to find out what the His Personality would be like if Anakin was a Jedi Diplomat. The Jedi Archivist. The Jedi Recruiter. The Jedi Historian. The Jedi IIbrarian. The Jedi Shadow. The Jedi Sage. The Jedi Investigator. The Jedi Peacekeeper. The Jedi Weapon Master. The Jedi Seer. Jedi Instructor. Or The Jedi Ambassador without Palpatine's interference? Because, it is quite possible that such stories will show us all Anakin as a Jedi. And even as the Chosen One in the good sense of this completely from an different. And from an unfamiliar side.
I mean he could have just kept the marriage a secret. The Jedi were allowed to have romantic relationships and even marry in *some* very rare cases afterall. Yeah they wouldn’t be happy about his attachment which went against the Jedi way but not to the point they would disavow him outright in this timeline.

Here is an Idea. If Sidious had a backup plan that triggered Order 66 upon his death which could be connected to his heart that would make for an interesting turn of events. Even though the Jedi defeat the Sith lord, Order 66 is triggered anyway as a scorched earth policy that Sidious, Plaguies, Dukoo, and Syfo Dias would have thought of in the event the plan was found out and Sidious was killed. The heart trigger could have been placed in Palpatine's heart by Plaguies since he was a scientist as backup to the Sith grand plan to destroy the Jedi even if the Bane line of the Sith failed.
What if anakin learned of the sith art force illusion and realized that the vision was not real and decided to toy with palpatine and PRETEND to be open to his scheme

Bo Katan is killed by the Imperial bombing. The Watch stays on that one planet. Everything goes wrong in Mandalorian S3 without the main characters. Now what Gideon does with the clones I have no idea. But the First Order might have a blast from the past in regards to its leadership.
Also the Ahsoka series might have it stories changed depending on what happens in it. Especially if a stronger Gideon is competing with Thrawn for leadership of the Imperial remnants

Excellent story! The only doubt I had through it all was your comment at 13:50 that "Palpatine was very unaware that Anakin was gifted the rank of Jedi Master." The news would have probably begun to circulate within the Jedi Temple that he'd been gifted that rank, plus Palpatine had informants just about EVERYWHERE. There wasn't much he didn't know about. Not to mention he could read people and their feelings thru the Force, so had he not been informed otherwise Palps would have at least deduced on his own when Anakin walked in the room that he'd have been promoted, and somehow twisted this knowledge to his own means. I still really like this theory of an alternate state of events!

I really liked how streamlined this plot line was. You told the What If you set out to tell clearly, and in an entertaining manner.
4.5/5 stars, as an example of a solid, no crazy frills, SW What If.
Anakin was like the oldest sibling of the family that the parents didn't trust fully because of the people he hung out with.. they want the best for him but they don't trust him fully enough to embrace him. So he took matters into his own hands and tried to find answers for himself.. maybe if the Jedi showed more compassion he would be a Jedi master and not a Great Sith Lord

Funniest thing about this is how Sidious goes through this AU assuming Anakin had been outright denied the Master rank as in canon, so one can imagine, as Anakin keeps acting contrary to what he expects, Palpatine pulling out this big movie script labeled "STAR WARS EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH" on the front and flipping through it going, "Wait, this can't be right."

So you remembered the lightsaber palpatine kept in a jar aka "he stretched his arm out and used the force to grab his lightsaber" so he grabbed the one from the jar but you forget he has a 2nd one hidden in his sleeve, which he would have used to even the fighting field against the jedi masters.

I'm not even kidding, having that perspective makes me less bothered by the whole "Somehow Palpatine survived" thing. I'm not fully aware of all Star Wars lore because I haven't seen all the movies yet (I'm a relatively newer fan), but it does paint an interesting through-line when you consider how much influence he's had across the series in one way or another.

Mace windu's vapad works around using his enjoyment of the fight to enable him to absorb channel and redirect the force energy of his opponent back at them, and who loves to fight more than the mandolorians, thus, what if mace survived and joined the Mandolorian covert and eventually trained grogu?
