Frank made a bunch of videos 15 or so years ago sitting in his yard smoking cigars while trashing Dana White. There was bad blood for sure.

Big John McCarthy said that Frank was the one that rejected the induction when the UFC approach him, he change his mind later and the UFC basically said no.
Big John wouldn't know for sure, he's just a referee who didn't work for the UFC, referees work for the commission in the State they work in.

@@wasupfool5692 he I didn’t directly work for the UFC but traveled around the world with them and stayed in the same hotel as the fighters etc. he doesn’t see a check from the UFC or is not supposed to I believed as long as he’s reffing that is.

Frank neglected to mention he was a fighter in the UFC in 1997-1999. So he left the UFC at 29, my guess is Frank wasn't the genius businessman that he likes to portray himself as. He is clearly bitter, my guess is his massive ego clashed with Dana's massive ego and he lost on making a fortune.

Definitely two egos that would never fit into the same room. Since the UFC is basically a monopoly now White has morphed into WWE Vince Mac. If you don’t completely bend over for him he makes you disappear from the business…
Did you watch the interview? He had severe back problems and he was 5-0 with 4 title defenses. Plus the UFC business was falling apart at the point.
@@troy8231 I watched it. The entire interview has an undercurrent of Frank perceiving himself as a high level businessman and decision-maker in early MMA, and a lot of it seems disingenuous. Lots of "they didn't know what we were doing," acting like he had a hand in the rules, politics and directions these businesses took and most of it rings false. He walked away from Zuffa who wanted him desperately because they didn't recognize him as the brilliant man of industry? Come on...
Great fighter, accomplished many things.... but some of this interview should be taken with a grain of salt, most of all the business stuff.

I watched a video of Dana saying frank walked in a BJJ gym he was training at the time and Dana said frank made him tap from just top pressure. Its a recent video I forgot what video was from.

Frank is a great fighter, but the ufc worth a lot more than frank.

Very intelligent guy. Based on interviews, I’ve seen has a little bit of I know it all type of mentality.
Frank was ahead of his time in MMA but he's always talked like he was on a different level than everyone else and it comes off as a bit delusional.
As much as you might not like Dana and the Fretita's, they obviously knew what they were doing as far as the business plans.

Frank's an absolute legend of the sport. One of my most favorite fighters ever. To see him not included in the UFC Hall of Fame is tragic.

Dana is obviously a scumbag but Frank has always seemed like a disagreeable guy that has left a trail of people he's pissed off while making himself seem above it all. I suspect he's more to blame than he's letting on.

Frank Shamrock is a breath of fresh air. I love watching MMA but the hot head/meat head personalities are definitely annoying. Doesn't help that Dana is turning the UFC into WWE.

I always wanted to see him fight gsp when he was in strikeforce and gsp was an up and comer.

The simple truth is... Frank Shamrock never accomplished enough in the UFC to earn entry into its HOF.
Former UFC Middleweight Champion but to hear him tell it he never even competed in the UFC🤭
@@sophiabarton248 I went back to review the record and some tape. Frank was a bona fide UFC champ and defended the title 4 times. He deserves a spot in the HOF, especially since Tito's in there already and Frank whooped him in his final title defense.

@@ant4613 Umm... because I'm kind of a jackass. That, and I frankly don't like Frank! Now, I've watched A LOT of his fights - just not realizing those in the early days of UFC, against mediocre competition (the Tito match notwithstanding), were title fights. Some of my all-time favorite MMA matches featured Frank getting his ass kicked by the likes of Bas Rutten back in Pancrase and Cung Le later in Strikeforce. Gotta respect him, though... win or lose he made great matches by willingly trading shots with monsters.
@@theriskid Fair enough, I respect the honesty. I wish more people were willing to learn and research before talking about something. I've never been the biggest fan of his either but he definitely belongs in the HOF. Sakuraba won 1 UFC fight and he's in the UFC HOF, and there are other examples, so it's not solely based on your UFC career as well.
