This worked perfect for me. I have a 2015 RAM 1500 Outdoorsman with the V6 3.6L and this was the right part and procedure. I also had the service engine light on as well as the gas cap light, so once I installed this and the gas cap light turned off I then removed the negative battery cable for around a half an hour and that got the service engine light to turn off also.

It's called the purge valve under the hood that you replaced at first and the one above the fuel tank is called the ESIM. Typically in these cases with that code we smoke test the fuel cap for a leak then we will test the whole system. Which you can test from the filler neck or the purge valve hose. While smoke testing the system and you can't find a leak it's best to replace both purge valve or ESIM. But if that doesn't fix the issue 99% of the time is the fuel tank. It has lines that are molded to the tank and you would have to replace the tank. To save everyone that costly shop bill at a dealership replace the purge valve or purge valve hose if it's not a rubber hose and the ESIM. And these are not covered under you emissions warranty bc these are considered "wearable items".

    Excellent Video.
My only problem was getting my Rear End of the Truck High Enough to reach into the cavity to get the old part out!
They need to put a slightly longer tab to get your finger around. You will have to be a contortionist to get it out.
However, finally got ahold of the tab and turned it loose.
I replaced it with the DORMAN part listed below. I also used a little bit of Clear Silicone lube to lubricate the rubber O Ring. This is not required, but will keep the O ring from drying out. REMEMBER: Always use a good Silicone Lube on any Rubber Parts. Since anything Petroleum Based will destroy rubber Gaskets.
Got the part back into the cavity and a quick 45 degree turn back in it went with tab clicking in place.
Removed the power to reset the Check Engine Light. Reinstalled and started engine.
    FIXED! YAY!
Upon inspecting the old part, there were several very small hairline cracks making it defective.
Dorman Parts are far superior to MOPAR since they use a thicker and stronger plastic. Hopefully, this will be the last time I have to fix this part.

Ethanol rots hoses & Plastic lines. I did 42 of JUST THE LDP's yesterday. My shop manager got upset that "I didnt SELL any Parts & Labor" on 5 that had OVER 100k mi. Being the is the last thing before I need a smoke machine and how easy it is. I’ll give it a go. Would be nice to clarify the ‘2 days’ required to clear the code. Thank you very much for this. Just watched your video and fixed. After watching many videos I knew it was this or my purge. Why I chose to let the dealer smoke test when I really knew this was the issue was stupid on my
part. I guess the only takeaway is I know it’s not the filler neck or a hole in the hose. Don’t spend for a smoke test when in all likelihood this is the issue.

I just did mine today, did not change out gasket. Light still on for gas cap and engine light so I disconnected RED side of battery and cleared it. Have driven it 1 time....lights still out. Crossing fingers that it doesn't come back on. Turning that thing left made a snapping sound and something popped off as I heard it hit the concrete, but never found out what it was that broke off when removing the old one. New one went on easy, but forgot to change out gasket and it didn't want to turn off again so I didn't force it and risk breaking whatever broke taking off original. This was a whole lot easier than the rear shocks I changed out today along with this.....needed breaker bar on all 4 bolts.

Beware the 3rd gen is a different part number with the pigtail on the opposite side. I still needed to clear the code afterward, but it worked! No more gas cap message or check engine light. Basically, if the old one rattles, you'll know it failed. Also, on the 3rd gen, the part is further toward the front of the truck, connected directly to the canister

Even replacing both those parts just because is still cheaper than the diagnosis from the stealership. Thanks!

The module is called a ec&m esim and the right name is purge valve for the part that's on the engine

Same exact issue and new gascap OEM from Mopar. Come to find out there was rust around the gas filler and didn't make good connection. 78.00 fix no more codes 😊

Thank you sir, I might not even need to get a smoke test at the dealer on the evap system. I'm gonna check this... once my sexy 5.7L cools off that is 🤣

i went through 2 of those Dorman parts and both got stuck and wouldn't let me pump gas. if you can find the brand "Standard" they are the OEM parts for the leak pump and the purge valve.

I had my check engine light on, reading a small emission leak code. Checked the system and found a leak at the gas cap. Changed the gas cap and fixed the light. About a month or so went by and had zero issues until I got the check gas cap indicator. Checked, and the gas cap was actually off. Thought maybe i didn’t put it on correctly (something I’ve never done) or whatever so i put it back on and it’s still showing…
