Fun fact: up until last year she was a street busker in Byron Bay, Australia. The lyrics of this song are the words people told her all the time during her performances.
sort of correct, it was written to strike back out against the people that would interrupt her performances while busking, she wrote it with the word "Dance" as it fitted the song better, but what is meant to be there (as she says herself) is the word "Sing" (in replacement of the word "dance" in the song)
This song is very personal to her, she wrote it during her time busking on the streets of Byron Bay. People would harass her, come up and demand her play the same song over and over, and she even had some of her belongings stolen.
She is a successful musical artist now, and has won multiple awards in Australia and overseas, but she worked hard to get where she is, and quit her job to begin chase her music career
The best part about you watching this before even hearing the actual song, is they sound exactly the same! She has a wonderful voice, can’t wait to see where her career goes.

I've never heard the song on the radio, I've never deliberately tried to listen to it, but it's all pervasive. I knew the song before I knew what it was called. I'd heard of Dance Monkey and Tones and I, but I only just recently figured out that the song I've been hearing everywhere is actually it. It's been in the Australian top 30 for over 38 weeks apparently. It's good to see a home grown girl killing it on the world stage.
Just found you from tones. Reactions are actually better for this song if you've heard it before, as people just think the song is auto-tuned. When they hear it live, it makes it that much more surprising. Still, glad it made you smile while you were sick. Check out the splendour in the grass version too. She was the opening act and people literally ran from the entry to see her... She had the biggest crowd of any opener in that festivals history... And probably for most festivals.
