People are bringing up the irony of how the New Englanders welcomed the British from Canada, siting the revolution and 1812. What they fail to understand is that by the 1940s, New England was on pretty friendly terms with Canada. 1917, the Halifax explosion happened. Among the first foreign aid of volunteers and supplies to arrive came from the city of Boston. Then, two years later, the great Molasses flood hit the city of Boston. Among the first aid to arrive then was, you guessed, volunteers from Nova Scotia. Since then, the two places have been on friendly terms with each other, and to this day a yearly tradition exists where Nova Scotia donates a Christmas tree to Boston as a sign of the continued friendship. With that out of the way, of all the people to puppet New England, Canada would easily be the more welcome for both the previously mentioned friendship and the fact that having what's left of the British empire on your side would help New England remain neutral in the chaos of the Second American Civil War.

Considering that Canada is one of the worlds major powers and a relativly democratic and friendly one at that I think a lot of people would prefer peacefull ocupation over bloody civil war

New England is surprisingly strong. I had a game as New England, the war in the south lasted 2years before the Syndicalists won out a peace with the Pacific States. Both countries demobalised just in time for the Great War to restart. The Lines of defense in new England were strong as the Syndicalists justified for war on New England, a war that could have gone either way now that the rebuilding effort in the Syndicalist States took effect.
The Mexicans under some strange movement I cared not for thought it was time to strike out at America and Canada. The Canadians previously won a war in Central America and thus swept up from the South as the main Mexican push reached Atlanta. The Syndicalists were in a bad way with only 30-50 divisions to the Mexican 50, the Canadian 60 and New England with another 60. For some Reason they declared on New England and that was that, the 3rd American Civil War.
New England now fully mobalised retook independence from the Canadians and went on to reform the USA.
When the "I wanna fish for god's sake" turns into "I wanna kill for god's sake" Lmao.

new England is basically the Finland of America low population, expert military, protect by its thick mountains and dense frosted areas, surrounded by bigger threats such the syndicates and Macarthur Roman empire, and so on.
With one key difference - they have the largest remaining (relatively) stable power in north america backing them up. Seriously, Canada can get REALLLLY damn powerful if you play it right. Me personally, I rush to build up industry while supporting my allies in various small wars for troop experience, train my troops in high-supply areas when not at war, and then right as the american civil war seems poised to start, I go all in on millitary and build up, in the span of about a year or two, enough of a force to curbstomp the feds, PSA and syndicalist states all at once. I work (temporarily) with the Union states, while also supporting New England. Then once the other three are done, I turn everything onto the unionists. Then I make sure the New Englanders get control of the entire US (since they always seem to do a good job running it in my playthroughs). After that, I focus navy and air force (and special forces - would already have mountaineers and paras down, so would be hard-focusing marines), build up to be able to win in the atlantic and the coasts of my old homeland, and immediately have a large force on the syndicalists' doorstep before there is anything they could do about it. I retake Britain, send an offer for basically free everything to them, then select to switch to Britain, rebuild the empire (this time as a federation), and me and my allies move into france and bases in north africa, ready for the second Weltkrieg. With the amount of allies I tend to make, the German empire is forced to fight on not just two fronts, but to fight majorly on about 5 (the atlantic, North and south Africa, the middle east, Europe and asia), and are crushed by the sheer weight of numbers and equipment on my side. Within a couple years, Im in Berlin, the war is over, and the British empire has returned to its rightful place as global hegemon.
It would be fun if Lovecraft was alive in this universe and had became a cult leader in New England

I'm a Canadian so KR making Canada "Annex" both Alaska and New England and Maine makes me very happy. Bordering states on Canada are some of the friendliest in my experience
from new hampshire and I used to cross the border and hang out in canada and it was always awesome, even if i couldnt talk to a good chunk of them because of the language barrier lol

Still a shame that my State of Texas doesn't really have the chance at independence, though I can sort of see how they wouldn't try in the Lore, as its pretty much in the worst possible situation: the Traditonally Dixian parts joined the AUS while the Non-Dixian parts stuck with MacArthur, and the PSA just isn't an option do to being cut off from them.

Btw, about expanding, Kaiser Cat, have you ever thought make a collaboration with the Great War channel in order to cover Kaiserreich version of Versaile?
We're big fans of that channel and it is a big inspiration for our own style of video, but I doubt they would ever do fiction as they are a historic resource first
Having just played a run of NE -> US Unification -> Total Global Victory noticed a few things.
NE does not get election events after the first choice after forming. This is despite the game having events on the pre-election primary. I played the game until 1949 without having a single election past the initial choice.
Post Unification America didn't get any specific events or even focuses. There is not even a focus to join the 2ndACW, I was declared on by the CSA and PSA in order to unify.
Finally, the "Reconstruct America" decisions that give you cores post Unification did not effect my manpower. Even after completing all events and changing conscription laws, my manpower did not change.
Just a few things I noticed.
