THIS is why I missed the theatre so much.
You could feel this noise from head to toe.
If I had watched this from my bedroom I don’t think I would’ve been as shaken by this movie as I was. Sincerely… I cannot wait for part two and I plan to pick up the book

This soundtrack at the cinema was just INSANE, the floor felt like it was breaking away, the chairs literally vibrated and the projection screen literally rippled from the sheer INTENSITY of this score. Legit one of the best movie experiences of my life.

This is the first time ever, that I want to rewatch a movie in the cinema. When everything vibrates from the low bass, it gives such a different experience. But it's Hans Zimmer, of course it was gonna be excellent.
My favorite cinema experience after interstellar. Commonality was Hans Zimmer
the speakers were blown in the theater i went to so it sounded awful
Batman V Superman Ultimate Edition and Dune for me are Hans best work,I believe both are masterpiece films,but many would disagree with one of those choices,but idc.
They both standout from all his other works and are so unique.

I was too young for Star Wars, so Lord of the Rings was my only "ultra epic cinematic experience" that I can remember. However, when I went to see DUNE in theatres not knowing the story or having seen the original (or even a single trailer), I was completely blown away, and saw it 2 more times. This film is incredible.
Just wait til you see part 2. There's a reason people have been raving about this series forever and trying to do it justice even after multiple failures

This soundtrack and the movie is a proof that watching movies in the cinemas have a completely different experience. Absolutely magnificent. 10/10 would recommend.

Hans Zimmer turned down working with long time accomplice Christopher Nolan to compose the soundtrack for Dune. Zimmer has always been a huge fan of the novel and stated that he had a passion to work on this film. Ludwig Göransson ended up composing the soundtrack of Nolan’s Tenet.
That explains it then. I was wondering how hans zimmer got out of in the bed every morning to make something so perfectly Dune.

When Villaneuve said that he knew Hans was a fan of Dune, and that he himself had always wanted to do a Dune film... It became immediately obvious to me that this is essentially a fan project done by some really REALLY talented people.
I regret from the deepest bottom of my heart to not being able to watch this movie on theaters. I'll never forget how I missed such an unique and incredible experience that it must have been.

It is, have you been able to find a copy of Part Two's soundtrack? It's either sold out or hasn't been released yet, it's strange. Can't find it anywhere on disc.
Imagine what could have been if the latest StarWar's films had been treated with a 10th of the love and respect shown throughout every scene of this absolute masterpiece!

Its not the story, not the characters but the whole world and especially the atmosphere that made me love the movie more and more. And Hans Zimmers music makes a big part of that.
I would recommend the audiobook, the characters became much more interesting when I saw what Herbert was doing with them.

Honestly this has got to be his greatest work ever. The creative sounds capture everything that Dune is they literally paint images with sound. It's a masterpiece!

The CHILLS I got seeing this masterpiece in an Omnimax cinema are indescribable, especially hearing 13:17. The strength in that voice, simply breathtaking.
That combined with that look in Paul’s eyes. The look of power, and defiance. Pure resilience. Gave me so many chills.

In an era of terrible, terrible adaptations and remakes, Denis creating such a perfect Dune film is nigh unprecedented. It defies all reason, and yet here it is for us. An adaptation which understands and respects the source material. Which captures how it feels to read, to experience, to immerse oneself in the planet Arrakis and its history, its culture, its rules. I dare say, it would bring a tear to the late Frank Herbert's eye to see it done so respectfully, and to see so many enjoying it who never experienced it before. At the time of his passing, the only adaptation of his masterpiece was Lynch's shlockey B-movie nightmare. He did not live to see Harrison's version, upon whose shoulders this film is able to stand.
I think it's the first time in my life I did not get disappointed with an adaptation (book to film). What's more, everything I imagined has been brilliantly visually translated

Villeneuve read Dune when he was 14 and has wanted to make the movie since. I don't think there's a better director in the world to take on this project.
After Blade Runner 2049 I have complete faith in Denis as the rare director who can properly handle this sort of IP
@@bleachisrad I do wish the highliners (the huge worm-looking ships) had a bit more definition to them myself. They were a bit too simple looking. The rest of the ships were really interesting and diverse though. Seemed like an Empire made of totally different cultures.
If Hans Zimmer hadn't been one of my favourite soundtrack composers for ages, he would have scaled my personal soundtrack Olympus with this work at the latest.

One of the best movies of all time. Everything about it is spectacular. I saw it two days in a row at the theater, wish I had gone more.
Just left the theater and to be honest I couldn’t stop shaking my head back and forth during the entire viewing in sheer disbelief. It felt unreal. I couldn’t believe what my senses were experiencing - not only at the ability of the director, actors, musicians and other artists to make such a thing… but in combination with the deeply emotional and heavy atmosphere - it felt so beautifully ancient and powerful to behold. It was alive. I was awestruck.

Listening to this with noise-cancelling headphones is wild. I couldn't tell the difference between the drums in the intro and my own heartbeat and had to take a break to make sure my heart wasn't accelerating like that haha

What I love is that since SOUND plays such a SIGNIFICANT part in the novel they included it as a KEY component in the film. Very happy as a LOOOOONG time lover of this epic story.

Hans Zimmer is one of the few composers left in hollywood who really does this to films. You remember the scores as much as you remember all the visual elements, and that is a serious achievement.

Soundtrack is like an hour-long trance. I happen to listen to this track during work, writing stuff, it helps to remain some flow.
Saw it in IMAX, most unforgettable cinema experience ever, the visual and sound 10/10. This director is a genius, Bladerunner 2049, Sicario, all amazing.
I am so happy that the Dune franchise finally has gotten the attention it so well deserves with such a great film. And this soundtrack just takes it over the top.

the experience in theater is beyond anything else. i was really unnerved by the soundtracks throughout the whole movie. it is totally worth spending the money just to listen to these masterpieces.
I’m addicted to that tumbling metallic percussion sound they use throughout (you can hear it at 19:55 to get an example) , something about it just tickles my brain perfectly. It’s like there’s either absolutely no rhythm to it or it’s the most complex rhythm ever, it lives somewhere in between a musical instrument and a bucket falling down the stairs.
It sounds like someone opening an old cellar door, or putting their fingers in a ceiling fan, or trying to start up an old car that just won’t go. I love the way it’s used to too, where you start to anticipate when it will happen again, and it starts to become unsettling because when you think it will come again, it doesn’t. And just when you’ve forgotten about it, there it is again.
It sounds like a thousand combat boots hitting the ground at once. It sounds like a war machine waking up from its thousand year slumber in order to pillage once again.
Idk maybe I’m just high but I love that sound so much. This might be my favorite score of all time just because of that one sound and I am not exaggerating at all.
When it's used in the House Atreides theme (as in the Sketchbook album) I think it most sounds like spent casings clattering to the ground from some rapid-fire gun-interesting because guns are obsolete in Dune, but I think it sets the mood spectacularly.

Really nicely put! As mentioned in several of his inteviews, Zimmer calls the percussive motif that you're referring to 'wormboy'. Really looking forward to see if we will get a different 'wormboy' v2.0 in part two

This movie managed to portrait how i imagined the world of dune as i read the book. I literally was brought to tears in the theater as i watched it.
Knowing Hans Zimmer made this soundtrack masterpiece makes me respect it even more than I already did!! He’s amazing, no wonder I loved hearing this so much in theaters
This should be seen in IMAX, You can literally feel the soundtrack reverberate in you. Along with outstanding visuals and direction..an experience not to be missed.

@@NameNik223 exactly, I watched it first at home and went to IMAX for the visuals, but it's the sound track which blew me away, you can literally feel your chest vibrating from those drums. Anyway atleast the second part is not to be missed.
I think the Bene Gesserit theme fits because after a trainee becomes a reverend mother, she unlocks her full female ancestry and the voices will stream into her mind constantly in conflict attempting to take over.

Once again Hans Zimmer shows us without any doubt just how critical the soundtrack is to any movie. He not only preserved but enhanced the legacy of the masterpiece that is Dune.

Dune was the second best IMAX experience I have ever had. Interstellar being the best, and naturally it's soundtrack was done by Hans Zimmer too.

Music by Hans Zimmer is always sensational. During a movie, it makes you feel emotions that follow the soundtrack's characteristics (like sad parts and dramatic parts). It is absolutely one of the best soundtracks.
Hans Zimmer always proves that he is the greatest of all time. He is just insane when it comes to music .
That Bass/Cello in Herald of the Change is just phenomenal!

This is a huge work, it is a masterpiece I can't imagine how Hans Zimmer thought about the different dimensions, musical layers and vocals.

Yeah, I finished 3rd book's final chapters while listening to this soundtrack. It adds a whole new experience of mysticism and atmosphere.
i read dune book listening to this, now i'm reading the 2'nd Dune book also with this music.
Now I'm actually glad Hans Zimmer turned down Tenet for this, Dune was beyond worth it.

As a boy I grew up in the desert, and lived the and still the "water is life" philosophy. in my teens I read Dune (the first time) and was immediately drawn to the Fremen. There ways and respect for the desert mirrored my own. As I watched my desert slowly methodically get plowed flat and turned into track homes with irrigated lawns and paved streets, I too saw the waste of the outworlders. Other than some casting issues (would've been nice to see someone actual middle-eastern actors) I think they nailed it.

I definitely recognized Hans Zimmer's style while watching the film, but thought the soundtrack was unique and original enough to make me doubt, that maybe it was by someone else. Hanz Zimmer took several innovative and new approaches to create this magical and hypnotic soundtrack
Input from Lisa Gerrard ( Dead Can Dance ) amongst others who worked on the 'otherworldly' choral vocals , Zimmer used her most famously for the Gladiator soundtrack .

There were faint similarities to the Peter Gabriel soundtrack for The Last Temptation of Christ at places (which I also love), but definitely it's own thing, for sure. To be fair, they both have messianic themes in desert/arid settings, so some of the vocals and instrumentation are going to be similar.
