  • NXT-R squeegee rubber, is it any good? What does it cost? LETS TAKE A LOOK! A FULL REVIEW!!
    UNGER GREEN CLIPS - windowcleaning...
    WHAT POLZN BLADES THINKS...
    Dear Trad-Man
I have a mixed opinion of the NXT rubber. On the one hand it is more durable than many of the other current brands available but that doesn’t interest me that much as you and I have a way of preserving rubbers in use anyway.
For me what is more important than durability is how well the rubber glides, contours to the glass & edges to the windows frames & seals. How well does the rubber overall perform? How good experience do I get with the rubber is much more important for me than how long the rubber lasts. Is it an enjoyable experience I am getting from using whatever rubber?
When you have a rubber that glides well in all weather conditions, especially in extreme heat that is a sign of a good performing rubber. Rubber is measured in a Shore and I have always preferred rubbers that are around the 50-52 Shore mark. Harder rubbers are around 55-60 Shore. Moerman soft rubber, my all time favourite is around 50 Shore. It contours and glides very well. It performs if you use the same methods as I do very well.
As rubber is a natural product, it can fluctuate in quality, or if it is stored incorrectly. You sometimes get bad batches but generally speaking Moerman soft rubber performs very well.
The higher the Shore the less supple and less contouring ability the rubber has but the more durable it should be. However, if that harder rubber requires more force to make it work & perform then in my experiences the rubber will still wear & tear down as quickly as softer rubber does that requires less force for it to work. So really a hard rubber wont last any longer than a soft rubber for me.
Generally speaking NXT rubber lasts longer than most other rubbers because of the different ingredients it has in it compared to regular black rubber. I do not know what other ingredients are added to this rubber. I was told it has more natural rubber in it compared to other rubbers that contain a lot of “fillers”. I think the “fillers” referred to are the chemicals that bind the rubber together. All very scientific.
The NXT rubber feels different in the hand. You can instantly tell this rubber is different in how it feels and behaves when you pick it up. But that is no interest to us who want to use it in their squeegee.
Another noticeable trait is that it squeaks a lot when using it. I can only put that down to the different ingredients it has in it compared to other rubbers. It has more friction than the average black Pulex, Moerman, Ettore, Unger rubber. You can easily fix that friction issue by adding more soap to generate more slip/glide but it will still squeak and it still wont glide as well as black Moerman rubber.
I have been using this rubber for around 4-5 months everyday and what I have found is that it does not glide as well as the Moerman black rubber does, especially in the heat. I found it doesn’t work as nice as black rubber on the pole. It can jump and skip over the glass especially when new. It often leaves a slight film haze behind in my 16-18 “ (longer) hand squeegee channels and quite often dried white lines/directional change marks are left behind on certain panes of glass. Jumping and skipping issues happen in hot weather also and the rubber can take a while for it to wear in. More noticeable when used on a pole than in the hand though.
I found I had many more issues with NXT rubber during the extreme high temperatures we have had over the last several weeks. I switched back to Moerman soft rubber just yesterday and I now have no issues at all using this rubber in the heat compared to what I had with NXT rubber. No skipping, no sheeting, better glide and control over the glass.
One good reason to like NXT rubber is that it can easily be threaded through Liquidator end clips but there is a negative with that which I will talk about later on.
I have used all branded rubbers and many unbranded rubbers over the years and there are plenty of rubbers I do not like. I would put NXT rubber in the middle category of rubber experiences. It’s not bad but it isn’t great to use either but I am a high performing window cleaner so I will find more issues with this rubber compared to the regular window cleaners. So unless you are an exceptionally skilled window cleaner using Liquidators & Excelerators, you need not worry too much what I have to say.
NXT rubber has that extra durability quality but the issues with the rubber sliding up and down the channel all the time, the lines and directional change marks it causes at times and the lack of glide and contouring doesn’t give it a tried and tested thumbs up from me.

Unfortunately not, as you can see in the video there is plenty soap. Seems there is an issue with the rubber being consistent. Some experience an ok performance, others have a terrible experience. Not very good for us as professionals getting rubber that only performs some of the time.
Ettore, Unger and pulex are far more reliable

TRAD - MAN THE WINDOW CLEANER The other rubber, I would like to know about is the blue wagtail. I see in most locations is sold out, is it worth buying?

I've tried the unger green rubber, and love it.
Hoping it will perform as well in the cooler months, as it does at the moment.
Much more durable than the soft rubbers I've tried.

Get the standard and pay yourself the .85 to cut it. It does like to talk, add a little more soap perhaps.

Yeah seems to have been a issue with the postal service, some got there masks some didn't. Unger were posting them directly from themselves out to folks like yourself, the postal services have been a nightmare if late, I tried to post something to the states and it was a headache
