I just beat CE on legendary but reach is giving me hell! I don't understand why some people claim reach is one of the easiest and CE is one of the hardest

@@BandTiguysChannel really? I play on PC and I think reach is nothing compared to CE, the other noble team members are a good distraction against the enemies and they are immortal. In halo CE you are almost always alone against a lot of enemies.
@@paolopesare3566 the moments where you ARE alone in Reach are far harder than CE. Without distractions, enemies swarm you, elites and hunters are far tankier than in CE, jackal shielders are tough to crack when they look at you.

This updated guide has aged so well due to it being like a beginners guide for halo as a whole, and with the fact that reach is the first game on PC MCC now, this is honestly a great way to get started with the campaign's on legendary.
Broey Problem is Long Night of Solace though. It's way harder due to damage calculations being more accurate with higher fps.

@@BroeyBroe Me neither. Every time I have to do the space battles on Legendary I die more often than not due to lack of proper cover and the maneuverability of both you and your enemies.
Watching this makes me equally happy and sad. Happy because it takes me back to the glory days of Halo and reminds me of all the fun I had online and in person with friends on the couch. Sad, because I know I will never be able to recapture those moments with 343i in charge. I thought the MCC would bring it back, but we all know that story. And I can't even begin to talk about Call of Halo 4 and 5.

Just finished watching your walk through guide of Halo 3 and now I'm on Reach (saving ODST for later as that's my favorite), man...Reach made a lot of mistakes with the weapons balance, funky lighting and some of their design choices but the solid-ness of this campaign can not be denied.
Excellent guide by the way Mr.Hokiebird. I like how you leave no enemy alive. That was something I used to do too when I would play the game. Though I did not know that you could take out all those enemies before entering that last chamber.
I had a golden ranger bob come out of the first structure with a concussion rifle and kill me over and over again

Helpful tip: If you're trying to get the "Game, Set, Match" achievement of completing a legendary mission without dying, make sure you exit the game and don't just restart the mission from the in game menu (sorry still salty cause I did that by accident)
Also I found that when you're trying to defend kat ,you can just sit in the room and do nothing like an unhelpful potato. Even on legendary the enemies won't make it to the door. Not a good way of getting points, but a helpful way of getting the before mentioned achievement
There is MORE than enough DMR ammo if you trade your pistol for the marine's DMR when you're tying to clear the LZ. This is of course referring to the last section of the mission before you go to the entrance of the base/relay outpost.
The gameplay changes I loved about Halo Reach:
1: the effectiveness of the Plasma Pistol at range, both for long distance peppering and charged shot at close range.
2: The Revival of the Health System for reach (Made sense canonically and in gameplay since it was a Human world, no need to put dead marines by every healthpack on a forerunner structure/cov ship to show how it got there.)
3. Assassinations on covs, especially ultras. Made it so satisfying to pull off a successful outmanuver. Dont think you could really do it on H4 LASO)
4. The make shift warthog. The Jorge-Hog.
Seriously, the effectiveness of the plasma pistol during a LASO run was awesome, especially during my 4 player weekly LASO walkthroughs.
Something about knowing how elites telegraphed their movements, getting all your teammates to clear out enemies leaving one elite,black eye recharge their shields, and then dancing with the ultra elite till someone got a rich assassination and full shields.
Other times having 4 players dancing with 43 energy plasma pistols trying to keep ultras from recharging their shields trying to get that single dmr headshot.
Great times.
There's also a DMR in the structure behind you when you fight off the drop ships

My worst enemy on halo reach on legendary is
1 skirmisher
2 elite aka skirmisher ability but with shield
3 hunter huge bullet taker and their melee is screen shaking
I'm playing on heroic, skirmishers destroy shields, elites are difficult in groups and hunters are really difficult for the reasons you specified.
Good thing is I just completed Halo reach on Legendary both original and MCC version oh man that is great run
@@NEONICO Congrats! I'm close to doing so myself on MCC PC and I still stand by the AR being a tad underrated. Maybe it's coz I've been using it for so long that I can make it work for me more than others can, but having picked up an AR wherever I can it's done it's job without giving me too much grief.
That said, Hokie's Legendary guides are "Noob's Guides to Legendary". I don't exactly fit that category.
Last time I played through Reach, after Long Night of Solace, I’d take off and modify some parts of my armor after missions , like my spartan’s armor was damaged by each mission in some way. By Pillar Of Autumn, all he had left was the base ODST Helmet and his Black and Blue colouring.
I beat the campaign once on legendary alone wi th iut a walkthrough years ago and remember it taking months but now I'm breezing through this with the walkthrough
You know that all the missions have legendary only things which are mainly 2nd datapads, on winter contingency at the beginning of the mission if you hurry straight towards the closed gate you'll see an invis elite running from the distress beacon kill him and he drops a datapad but if he gets to the cliff side he despawns

Any halo game on legendary old or new made by 343 or bungie trains you to take your time and don't mind dieing alot it also trains you not to charge forward like a god.
I think I watched your guide to halo CE a while back. Now that I can actually play halo again it's a pleasure to learn the games finer tricks.
The needler rifle is a little ridiculous because it can trigger two different hard pings(headshot and needler ammo detonation), AND has a crazy large clip size. Definitely my favorite weapon in reach.
I got my lucky break when dealing with the two zealots in the server room. I got an overcharged shot on the sword elite, and I took him out just as he pulled out the sword, and the other elite went down easy with the elite combo. Thanks for the guide.
You are right about the cover, since the enemies can quickly kill you if you’re shields are down. And plasma grenades and kill you if you stay in one area for cover. In Call of Duty however, you must find the nearest cover, and if grenades land near you, you can just throw them back (unless they’re Semtex grenades, but I never encountered enemies that throw Semtex at me in Call of Duty’s campaign though), but in Halo’s campaign, all the enemies would throw plasma grenades (covenant), which you can’t throw back, and pulse/splintered grenades (prometheans), which explodes on contact.

ALL THIS TIME! I played this game when I was in middle school and I did not know that if you took different routes you can change the compound to hold you ground. Gotta play it again just for this. (I always used the same route).
I finished halo on legendary, and decided it would be a good idea to play legendary with all skulls on. I am left with no shields, and csnt even finish mission alpha of winter contingency. Wish me luck guys Godspeed

I know i'm 2 years late but one solution i found to the DMR ammo shortage is to trade your pistol to a marine it has about 50 rounds in it. great video by the way you make the best fps walkthroughs I have ever seen by far, the act man sent me.

The assault rifle is actually good for one thing: shooting down the banshees right after the first gunfight. You don't need to shoot them down, if you are trying to beat the par score, it's an easy way to rack up a bunch of point. Even on LASO difficulty, you have more than enough ammo. Just fire in bursts and even if the falcon fires the fatal shot, you will still score for it.
Does that really work? The assault rifle on Legendary is a piece of shit in this game. How many bullets or ammo clips do you need to shoot it down?

See the reason the assault rifle doesn't do shit on legendary is for a few reasons one, y'all don't burst fire, it's effective if u hold the fire button for like half a sec and just tap off then back on, more accurate, less ammo wasted. Another is a lot of people try to use it out of its effective range, which doesn't work, third people seem to think its a spray and prey weapon it's not, the turrets are spray and prey, not the fucking assault rifle
Brendan Mazerolle even in short controlled bursts the assualt rifle still doesnt hit enough for it to be any good. You usually have to get up close for the bullets to hit the target most of the time which is why it sucks on legendary
One of the reasons I don't personally use the assault rifle from it's effective range is because I die too quickly before I manage to kill the elites.
The Elites also use the Concussion Rifle a lot, which is very deadly on Legendary. The Assault Rifle can't complete with that at all.

Nice to see this walkthrough redone :) I knew this was coming for a while though, I think you mentioned it a few times on your streams. I like how you made this walkthrough cinematic like your other walkthroughs that did this sort of style ( I think halo 3 and maybe halo 4), your original walkthrough just looked like you were just instructing tips even though that's the point of this guide It just feels more like your modern guides now which I know is probably the purpose but still I like this updated walkthrough can't wait for some more updated strategies :) This all seems to be more for people that just started watching your walkthrough's cause you talk a bit more about things people that are new to halo need to know for legendary, which I understand cause this was your first walkthrough.

I wanted to see if i could beat Reach on legendary without any guide. I was able to but fuck it was brutal at some parts. The elites and jackals felt way more threatening than usual.

I loved the elites in this game. Just like in Combat Evolved, they were fast, they dodged, used cover, and they were smart as hell. Not like in 4 and 5 were they just stand there and shoot.
The proper gunfight in COD involves more movement than in Halo
I'be played both, and I prefer Halo. From what you said, Call of Duty does not require as much movement. You can stay in one spot and clear out a wave in CoD, because the enemy will eventually move out of cover, and the enemy's health is low enough where you can get him quickly. In Halo, however, if you stay in one spot, the enemies will flank you, trap you, and kill you, so it is paramount that you don't get pinned down, and you keep moving to avoid death. You can do this in CoD, but the only movement required is moving up towards your objective.
Jonathan Tairov I mean you CAN camp in COD, but only noobs do that. Besides, spawns will most likely flip and you'll get naded to hell. If you are in a gunfight in COD, you have a much better chance of winning if you jump, go prone, wallrun, and anything else to confuse the enemy. Halo is more about landing precise shots and weapon choice (since it takes more bullets to kill someone).

low key, really like the AR in the halo games. I definitely am biased cause they're just so iconic, but they are still somewhat viable on bust fire

At 11:38, I actually like to get out of the truck and swap the magnum for the Needle Rifle dropped by the skirmisher, as I find the extra range and damage to be very useful since I don't have a DMR yet

I was pissed after playing CE then going to this because of how much weaker my awesome magnum and plasma pistols are
While it's not a god gun like it is in CE (which I heard from somewhere was an accident) the magnum in Reach is still quite powerful if used right.

I didn't use the plasma pistol but took ammo from the Marine that had one. I saw he had one so I thought I'm a good shot so I will use some ammo

No idea, check your settings for keybindings.
Found the setting for keybindings and it defaults to number 4 for night vision.
I’ve literally been trying to kill the first elite that’s cloaked with invisibility for literally 20 tries now I’ll let you guys know the second he finally catches that first good assault rifle clip and then pistol headshots

The reticule has been positioned slightly below the center of the screen ever since Halo 2.

If you've ever played Call of Duty multiplayer, you'd know why. It's to prevent "head glitching". In games with centralized crosshairs, the player character shoots out of its eyes. This creates very weird scenarios. In Halo, you shoot out of your gun, and the bullets that appear on screen really are the bullets that do damage. In Call of Duty, everything is wonky.
as someone who read the halo books and started playing with halo: CE on the PC, i gotta say i LOVE halo reach. and for all you guys saying 4 and 5 suck too, again, i think they are literally fantastic. Halo reach really brought halo up to date imo. but i know this is basically the opposite opinion of most halo "fans"

Hokie on the nearly last encounter (when u get the dmr) you can go up the hill and kill the skirmishers. They have a needle rifle so u can use that too, but u can hide up on the hill and just kill all the enemies which is much easier.
Man I wish the Assault Rifle was headshot capable. Sure would be more viable.

There is no real need for a pro to watch a walk through, they should already know how to get through the game on legendary.
I was more doing it because I enjoy seeing Hoki have fun go through and have fun with the weapons, rather than seeing plasma pistol/whatever for most of the game.
Well I actually just killed the league with the concussion rifle before he escapes with the DMR it was pretty easy just shoot in the head
