Thanks Fil for the wonderful and enthusiastic reaction. Five days after the publication of this little masterpiece, I can't stop listening to it, it's absolutely fascinating and exciting. I love her voice so powerful, warm and delicate at the same time and I keep moving, every time. Angelina has always been wonderfully engaging, but now her voice gets warmer and deeper each time and her slower version of this iconic song is truly fantastic, for me much closer to the emotion of the lyrics than Elvis's version. 💛🧡❤️

So many little tributes to Elvis in this vid, her leather dress with the red guitar like Elvis in one of his concert videos, Rob Christie on piano dressed like Elvis band members in the same concert. Her beehive hairdo is similar to Priscilla Pressley. When she walks in it almost looks like her boots have a blue shimmer (blue suede shoes). The chandeliers and furniture can give a Graceland vibe and the oldest of the children (Juliette who is AJs sister) poses in that chair similar to a photo of Elvis daughter Lisa Marie. I may even have missed some clues

I would argue that her phrasing at the very end is also a nod to Elvis. It’s subtle but there’s definitely a hint of his style there.

Representatives from record companies even flew in private jets to faraway Norway to sign her. All turned down. Her mother said they turned down 90 percent of the requests to appear on shows. Finishing school is important.
That first note from her liquid gold voice has me motionless and breathless. This lady captures an original song and suddenley it has another life in her hands. Her ability is mind-boggling, so unique with a musical mystique that hasn't yet piqued.

Nice reaction...she is surrounded by very grounded people who are going to work very hard to help her stay grounded, but she is a rare find in music and will not be able to avoid changing the world...like Lennon and McCartney. These genetic combinations do not occur in nature often and I have been blessed to live while she and the Beatles lived. The hair in this is an homage to Priscilla's beehive of the 50s, the black leather, and red guitar are straight from Elvis' 68 comeback tour and Rob Christie on the piano is decked in the red that Elvis' band was wearing in that same comeback special.

That was one of the best descriptions of Angelina's place in the industry. I agree with everything you said and you said it well. I sadly fear she will not get the recognition she deserves but I have to believe she has multiple Grammys and awards & accolades of the highest quality and recognition. This arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentines Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I was waiting for her to throw in a little shake to it in homage to the King. Could that have been intentional? That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. The young girl sitting on the throne is Angelina's younger sister and she have the same dark brown colored eyes that Angelina naturally have as well, so as mentioned above these are contacts and probably another tribute to Elvis who had blue eyes.

It is fairly obvious now that Angelina has the luxury of having everything imaginable needed to perform and produce as much as her childhood and schedule allows. Her parents, grandmother and uncle are savvy and guiding her wisely in a loving and happy environment. And they have all the means necessary to live well and travel as needed. So IMO fans should be confident Angelina is doing exactly what she has dreamed about and looks forward to everything ahead of her.

When asked if Jordan has any specific career goals, the answer is the following:
- I want to make timeless music. I want to make music that everyone can relate to, and spread more love because we need it in the world.

There is no age limit to fulfill your dream. Do not give up your dreams. That's the most important thing. Keep working towards your dream no matter what others may tell you. If you believe in the dream, you will make it happen. she concludes.
Timeless is exactly what she is and the kind of music she wants to make, as she said.
She will never stray far away from the excellence in her music. Pop jazz type of music probably the only thing close to the mass turned out " quickly forgotten drivel" as you would say, that she will produce. I understand your analogy completely! Her eyes are brown, but she started using a blue shade a while back. Totally agree with your assessment of her art - and it is art, not just singing. She digs down into each song she does and really gets the deep meaning from it.
During her run in Norways Got Talent the younger male judge advised her family. He loved Angelina and did not want her to go the way of other young exploited artists. Her parents listened to him, and have done the best to protect her whilst trying to satisfy Angelina at the same time as putting the breaks on. They turned down many offers and contracts. Disney wanted to sign her for instance. I always believed thats why they didn't agree to the release of Im Holding Out For You. If that had been released when she was 10, she would have taken off.
I hadn't given much thought to Omer Bhatti's early influence and guidance, (although I had heard of his close friendship with Angelina's family).
It makes sense that he would advise caution, as he was intimately aware of the serious pitfalls of fame due to his close relationship to the Jackson family. His mother was a nanny for Michael Jackson's children and he spent years growing up with them.

About "I`m holding out for you", that song was not hers to release. Brandon Lowry sat with the rights to the song, but I understand what you mean, Anita. Agree with you otherwise, although Omer Bhatti said what everyone else said back then, Bjarte Hjelmeland etc. too. I think the Angelina family figured that out themselves, finding the right course for Angelina, but Omer`s guidance might have helped 👍

Sara made it very clear in the interview she gave at the conclusion of the Final performance of NGT that her priority was that her daughter had as normal a life as possible, and their priority would be on her education. The family have never wavered in that determination.

I think she not mainstream yet is because her commercial push has not happened yet. Her family wants her to have a youth of some sort and do minor things like finishing school :-) Will she become mainstream once that happens? I hope so, because the good she does unto me, I wish upon other as well. Also she really deserves it for all her amazing talent and being the good person she is (e.g. the reason for going barefoot). I hope this video gives her mainstream attention a nice uptick. Perhaps she can perform it at movie winning award shows if the Elvis movie is awarded prices.
It is wonderful how she comes in strong and clear. The piano sounds wonderful as well and Rob Christie is really slaying it! The arrangement is great and I love how she uses the bridge as an intro and outro. Because of the slower tempo, how she sings and the whole arrangement it gives me a sadder feel to it. Elvis’ upbeat version gives me a sense of hope that things might still turn around with a happy end. With Angelina I feel she is resigned that things must change and whatever must be will be. Towards the end I feel a desperate plea of sorts.
The visuals are great as well. At first she is uncovering beautiful old pieces. Her cousins and her sister give a sense of time passing by and Angelina growing up. A lot of the rest is Elvis era visuals: the costumes, the guitar and of course the Priscilla beehive hairdo.
The quote of her last interview..I want to make timeless music, that everyone can relate to and want to spread more love , because we need it in the world 💕🙏

You are making very good sense and I concur with your thoughts. She is able to sing these classics to us in a way that her versions become totally new but at the same time she pays homage to the original song and artist.
I understand your feelings about the pop music fad. Yes, that is where the money is. Angelina is on the verge of creating a whole new genre, a combination of soft jazz with a contemporary sound and she will, indeed attract the attention of true music lovers all over the world. We need to remember she still hasn't been officially marketed to the world yet. She's currently on a 2022 summer Concert tour and there is an album to come out very, very soon. We have to believe she is close, very close, to taking the wraps off and when that happens every person in the world will know who Angelina Jordan is. Is that a stretch? Not to me. Her unique and soulful sounds touch people's hearts and when you combine that with who she is as a person, humble, kind, caring and loving she is on a level reserved for only Angelina. Although the pop crowd may need time to adjust to her, at a time when they're most vulnerable and they happen to be listening to Angelina sing for them they will probably start to sob because their heart opened the door to let her in. Yes, you can call it magic if you wish. To me, she is a Messenger of Love.
She has branched out a little bit to experiment with other things such as Alan Walker’s returning home tour there she sang two songs Title sing me to sleep and faded so she has touched a pop song or two here and there but she always comes back to her roots and that’s what we love about her she’s not afraid of anything

Rob has been playing the piano on most of AJ's studio production performances. Good review - I think she loves to perform live. Lots of concerts in Norway this summer - will be there 10th July. She said on instagram that she will be going to Japan afterwards. She can sing in Japanese.

We are witnessing Eloquence, Class and Poise from a young lady that just does not fit the mainstream, mostly over produced, gimmicky stuff that is pushed out. Angelina is already one of the greatest vocalists in decades and I am sure she will find her spot, one of pure real music....Streisand, Josh Groban, Celine...etc.. all of the true artists have found their place and Angelina will too. In her always exceptional style she has arranged a tribute to one of her special mentors that helped her develop her voice and style. The retro feel, gold for his wealth, mirrors for his always in the spotlight image, chandeliers for his stately extravagance, the black pantsuit and red guitar of his 68 Comeback Special, Pricilla's hair style, her pose at times reminding us, or maybe just her, of some of his positions, the song choice, and her ever engaging bluesy style of slowing it down, starting off with a bold voice that hauntingly but beautifully reminds us of his, and that she's maturing. It is a fitting but sad tribute to a "Good Thing" that died far too early and far too sadly. She is so symbolically oriented. Always true to the intent of the song. Excellent reminder that fame can easily corrupt. No one delivers or elicits emotions better than Angelina.
For Angelina it's all about the music.... She won't sing rubbish just for quick fame. Republic Records aren't fools, and they haven't tried to change the direction she is traveling. They know that she is a once in a generation (lifetime) talent.... She is going to be a star.
Every time you think she can't sing any better she blows it out of the water. She's amazing. I hope she never stops.. we love her and her music.
Finally, today I heard a reactor who underscored the point that you made many months ago about Angelina. They were referencing the recent BET music awards program and essentially said that the winners of these shows were often the stars whose music was negative and immoral while being performed by artists that can't hold a candle to Angelina's talent. I'm all for all art being subjectively held in the heart and mind of the individual but at some point, we have to decide about what music means in the big picture. Do we tear down the mores of society or are we life supporting?
So well put,"she stands out of time", Angelina is timeless. I think of singers from my parent WW2 generation. Also singers from the fifties and sixties. She doesn't belong with the music industries pop princess assembly line. I'm glad she's not mainstream.
Excellent point on some great artists not being accepted totally in the mainstream of things...Stephen Sondheim, the composer comes to mind..one of the greatest of any generation but outside the Broadway community, his complex variations & brilliant scores were probably overlooked by many..Angelina was raised to appreciate the standards & the greats that performed them..her musical sensibility is connected to the great music of our past & present..shes talented enough to welcome it into her wheelhouse & has the uncanny skill, because of her unique talent,of being able to make everything she performs sound better...this for most of us, the music loving public with some degree of taste, is art performed at the highest level to love & cherish
Altho she signed with Republic Records two years ago, she and her family got a contract that prohibited them from actively promoting her until she finishes school. Thank goodness. I can't think of anything more antithetical to creativity than being hounded by paparazzi day after day. She will bring us her own vision as time goes by, and she will be successful world wide no doubt.
You are so right about the mainstream music industry today. Like the mighty Mississippi River, it's full of dirt and filth, but it serves its purpose. Angelina, on the other hand, is a pure, clean mountain brook, but she's gathering momentum. I can't wait to see what the next 10 years bring for her. Just hope I'm alive to see it.

AJ has infact ventured into the pop world.. I think its called Above the water.. I did suggest it to you a long time ago because it is so different from her usual stuff. But I loved it.. The hair style is called a beehive and I think it's possibly a homage to priscilla who used to wear her hair like that.. I am sure Angelinas born eye colour brown.. Every Angelina angel wants and believes Angelina's music should be promoted. We know her family has requested Angelina be allowed as normal a childhood as possible and should finish her schooling. I think that is very wise. I like to believe her family is working with Republic Records on a promotion strategy, to fully promote her while at the same time not to overwhelm Angelina.
We don't want, what has happened to so many, her to shoot up in popularity only to have her star burn out. Angelina is a rare talent. I like to believe she is a once in forever musical artist and I put my faith in her loving family to know when the time is right to allow Republic to fully promote her. Our patience will be greatly rewarded.
AJ does not sing for money as primary life goal, she just loves art and singing
I've never worried about Angelina not becoming a famous artist. I was a bit worried earlier on if she was going to see her image as the barefoot princess as a cage, but she still seems very comfortable with it so I think she'll be fine. Now I only have two worries about her: I hope she will find a nice man (or lady if she happen to prefer that) and live a happy life, and two, that none of the idiots in the world hurt her. I wish her a happy life, and fame isn't always the best vessel to get that, but I will be surprised if she won't be counted as one of the greatest artists throughout the recorded history of music.
Hello my friend. I loved that analogy 🙂 She's hard at work finishing her upcoming album, and I'm super curious too see the direction of it, although I'm pretty sure. I really hope she will stay true to herself and still make it big. And to be honest, I think she DOES have the musical genius to be able to do that. I was in tears before the echo of the first word was done. Sometimes you just know when a person in whatever endeavor finds themselves and the secret is unlocked for them. Angelina has found her voice through all the experimenting with sounds and feels of others voices she has gained hers. And it rings true, not just to her, but to us as well.
When you get to her concert appearance in Norway you can hear her tightening up some of her high notes by finishing them of with a touch of her vibrato that solidifies her control which she has had some trouble with. Now she is ready for her next step. From here it will be tougher to keep her away for the inevitable move to full-time Superstar.
Thanks Fil for your observations and insights as always to the point. I always look for your reactions first. So I knew you were super busy with the launch of the new web sight, which I plan to enter once I figure out if I offer anything to it. I am 71 so my opinions and perspectives maybe aren't what is being looked for. Until the next time.
P.S. I forgot to add that I knew Angelina was on the right track to finding that voice that was going to carry her through. I first heard IT when she made a TikTok of Adele's, 'Love Is A Game'. It was like There it is!!!! I'll give the link if you haven't heard it yet.

The 2 younger girls are her Uncle Mike's kids, and, 2 time Grammy winner Rob Christie on piano. What a great cover! The beehive hairstyle was to honor Priscilla Presley and the time period she met Elvis. She had the red guitar and the black outfit! I was not expecting this! This was almost 4 minutes, but it flew by and felt short! Going to listen to it again! 16 years old….Wow!!! What a performance! By the way, yes, she's wearing contacts. Great comments Fable comparing Angelina to other great (and similarly "real") artists. My hope is that Republic Records is savvy enough to realize what they have in Angelina. That her foundation, her depth, her versatility, her skill set (not even mentioning her beauty and bearing) are way ahead of the curve of most of today's musicians/singers etc. I believe they can together find a way to thread the needle and deliver songs that can challenge and inspire Angelina (my impression is she rarely sings meaningless fluff songs) and that have market appeal. They share the same goal.
And besides, who else but Angelina could sing the word "honey" any better than she did it here with her honey voice? Just that alone will break a lot of hearts.
Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day.
Elvis' version is great and it always was, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own.
When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched.
The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammes), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers.
The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister.

If her record label (Republic)had anything to do with that fabulous evening gown AJ wore for her appearance back to Norway she's in great hands. So far she's only done one pop cover for the movie The Hate Game, Duffy's song Mercy. It was very well done but fortunately she has pretty much stayed with the jazzy style that has revered her with all her fans (Angels). Great seeing you back, Filipe. The man in the piano is Rob Christie. He is the music director for Republic Records and has won multiple grammy awards. Her hairstyle is the way Pricilla Presley use to wear her hair when she married Elvis. The black leather and red guitar are paying homage to Elvis.

She wears contacts for color. Hair like Priscilla, black jumpsuit, red guitar like 1968 Elvis. Angelina has made money with her own singing since she won NGT age 8 and maybe before. She has always been self directed. She made the decision when she was ready to sign. She decides the song and arrangements of the songs.
Excellent reaction and agree she should be Mainstream and there your partially right! The other reason is her Family is holding her back to complete school, whidh she finished this month. I believe they are going to start promotung her Mainsrteam to the Public. The timing of this video and she Graduated Highschool at 16. She has a very supportive family. Her Grandma did the production of her videos. Her uncle is her manager, her family only let her sign with a company if she will not do anything until she graduates. Those girls were her sister and cousin. Her parents are trying to live through her! They are not driven by money, they are driven by making the best life possible of their children!
