  • Hello friends,
you have landed on this fun area where you will learn a little bit about Autism and how the world around it is discovered.
Our daughter was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of 2 with level 2 in both areas (social communication and restrictive, repetitive behavior) the levels can change during her lifetime anywhere from 1 to 3 with 3 needing the most support. She can be reevaluated at age 5 to see if anything has changed especially since she does receive therapy. She is verbal but has Hypotonia (low muscle tone) and has displayed signs of Pica (mouthing or eating of inedible items) which has fortunately become less and less. We share what we know and hope you enjoy with us these magical moments as well as learn a bit about autism yourself. Come along and learn how she deals with different scenarios. She was attending preschool and is now doing ABA therapy which has helped her make amazing strides forward.
Today we have therapeutic horseback riding, we waited one full year to get on the schedule and has been so worth it. We have also been going to the cat cafe to test out if we could possibly get a cat as our middle child has been asking for one and to give some companion to our senior dog. We are open to a cat or a dog. We figured it would be a good idea to visit a pet shelter as we have had 2 amazing dogs from the shelter SPCA not sponsored and do not necessarily want a kitten or a puppy (they are a lot of work!) We know that animals are great companions and have a sense for special needs individuals.
A new toy with numbers is being tried out by our daughter as well and we get to enjoy the community pool now that it is summer time. We hope that everyone in our family will adapt to all the changed happening and will continue to document as the weeks go by.
Autism is something we were only slightly familiar with before having our third child. It is hard on some days just the way life can be and very fun on other days. Thank you for coming along.
    xoxo

be mindful of small pieces especially if your child has PICA. Toys for children on the spectrum, can autistic children be around animals, getting a pet with a child on the spectrum, do autistic kids like cats, as an amazon associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Girls on the autism spectrum, should we adopt a pet.
