Looks great so many videos out there mostly from RV sales people who just make blanket statements like only 3/4, or 1 ton. They claim that any vehicle when loaded the rear end should not dip lower than the front end. While it looks good there isn't really anything wrong with a truck that dips in the back when loaded. Actually most stock trucks the front is lower the back is higher because of this so when the truck is loaded it's almost level. People put front end lifts so it's level when unloaded then when you load it it is lower in the back. I towed at max weight for 15 years with a 1/2 ton pickup daily for a business I had never had any issues. Manufactures add in extra room for overloading they know people will go over.

Raptor is rated 6000-8000 towing plus 1200 payload.
So 7200-9200 total 5th wheel capacity.
He said this 5th wheel weighs 7500 empty.
Even on the low end he is only 300 pounds over total weight.
Which with fuel supplies and passengers is easy to be that much overweight.
So nothing really dangerous going on here.
Just drive safely especially when towing.

      @czar2321 Před 3 lety

You don’t know anything about towing. The pin weight on the 5th wheel is at minimum 1300lbs that exceeds the payload with nothing else included (people, gear, fuel, etc.). The empty trailer also exceeds the towing capacity. This is a huge ticket by highway patrol or if in an accident your automatically at fault and getting sued. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Bump stops don't change the size of your brakes, your frame, your tire ratings, your gvwr, your gawr's, your insurance, your gcwr, enjoy it while it lasts but your family is riding in that rig not just you and there are other people and children in other vehicles on the road around you, what happens when you get trailer sway? Have to stop quickly? Hit some rough or wet roads? If you can afford a raptor and a nice camper you can surely afford a 3/4 ton or higher truck it's all fun and games until someone that isn't you is hurt or worse, not trying to hate but just some food for thought, you can drive home while drunk once but it doesn't mean you'll make it a second time never mind the legal aspect of either situation, stay safe

This truck shares the same body and frame structure with the other F-150 tucks that are capable of towing well over 10K, plus I have better brakes. I also have the active spring helpers in the back.

Ok. I just have to say something here. First, I’m happy to see you’ve tried something that every other raptor has thought about doing. I see that With that being said, I’ve looked up the 5th wheel you were towing and But I can’t figure out the length of your trailer exactly but the 25’ is 8800 GV and the longest 5th wheeler is 29’ and that dry GV is 10,750.
By the looks of it, you have an, ‘18 raptor. That gen 2 has a max of 8500GV. That is for pure safety. That truck is definitely not designed to pull that type of weight. Simply put.
With that being said, if you are determined to pull that 5th wheel nobody should really tell you no, other then DOT or possibly CHP, if they even know what to look for.
I also have a raptor. An extremely modified ‘20 raptor with a wide body kit running on 37’s. I am also using mine for pulling my toy hauler, but it’s 6500 GV dry and 9500 wet. This exceeded my weight and I definitely feel it. I changed the Deaver springs to HD, added an SVT bump stop and a special made raptor air bags, which could increase my overall to 16,500, but my tires aren’t rated for that and my diff will be destroyed.
What I’m trying to say is, even though you are liable In case of an accident, at least you’ll be much safer if you still plan to use your raptor to pull. Change your Deaver springs to HD and get the new raptor airbags. It will change everything and still run incredible and safer. Good luck

Thank you for sharing. My trailer is 29.5' and only 7400lbs when empty. We travel light and will not go over 8100lbs. I will be installing leaf helpers to reinforce the rear to over 2000lbs load but even with the stops only this set up is stable as a train. Towed this 5th wheel with my 2011 5.0 allover the country with ZERO issues.

I’m doing just that.. deaver springs and air bags or better bump stops... I don’t tow a lot... but I do on occasion tow a hydro jetter that’s under the stock Raptor GVW rating.... but I still want to be able to perhaps tow something bigger.. I’m not off roading like others seem to do... I go down a few dirt roads now and then.. that’s it .. but I have my eyes on a boat... a big one..I’m not sure the weight..but I think it’s more than the Raptor is rated for ...

@@drainmonkeys385 question for you. When you changed your springs, did you feel the “hop” in the back any longer when you are not carrying a load? I’ve heard Raptors are known for jumping side to side occasionally. Just wondering if that fixed it.

Not running upgraded rear leaf springs only sag 1/4 inches on the rear those hitch equalizer system seem to be helping a lot in my opinion. But I highly recommend running a tune to help out because certain parts of Colorado had my truck working with tune for trans and engine I got 2 mpg more towing and way better shift points and rpm

Cool, very interesting to me, love that someone is trying odd things. I understand the legal arguments on weight, but get real tired of herring it all the time. Just shut up people! Guys have been overloading cars, jeeps, truck and tractors of all sizing for years. And even now overloaded vehicles are NOT the majority of the crashes that happen each and everyday.

GVWR - Curb Weight = Payload
It doesn't matter what you want to call Payload, you legally cannot exceed the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of your vehicle regardless of what modifications you have done to that vehicle. Sadly far to many people do not understand this.
Is it possible for that Raptor to pull that 5th wheel - absolutely
If you get into an accident with that Raptor pulling that 5th wheel are you legally liable - yes
If you are pulled over with that Raptor pulling that 5th wheel will you be ticked - probably
Will excessive wear-and-tear be put on that Raptor beyond what it was designed to do and increase the chances of a dangerous failure - definitely
If you want to take these risks and risk the lives of everybody around you on the road then so be it... I personally am not willing to do that.

I hope you don’t get spotted by a highway patrol that knows about the Raptor...... or maybe we all should hope one does to keep you from killing someone.... bumpstops aren’t enough... what about the turn radius with that short bed... this is a fools errand ... if a person wants to be able to tow heavy, and still drive a raptor... I think you need to do more than bump stops.. maybe New bigger leaf springs and different shocks... maybe springs and bump stops are enough.. idk. Stock...it’s dumb.. you can go to jail doing that .

How about you let people use their trucks for work like they are meant for. I've towed well over 10k with my f150 with a gooseneck. They tow really well but people don't know that because people think that numbers matter. I've never heard of anyone being pulled over because they are towing a fifth wheel camper or a gooseneck with a half ton. Everyone on the internet for some reason thinks they are going to get pulled over.
