A whole year later and I am not in the least bit disappointed that I finally got one of these, in fact I like it so much, I am ordering another one as soon as the price drops below R2000.00 again. Also glad I waited because mine came with the upgraded red black and silver controller.
Just got this beast the other day. Handles grass very well. If you gun the throttle, its popping a wheelie, and possibly flipping over if you don't ease off a bit. It handles crashes like a tank. I don't do crazy big jumps, but I use it for my dog. He loves chasing it out in the open field. Great exercise for him. As a noob to rc's, I don't notice the delay at all. For the price, this is a steal.
Still the best RC channel on CZcams! I'm also very surprised that the metal bits almost entirely through the entire car didnt show any signs of bending or breaking after those surprisingly high/far launch ramp airs to flat!

Hey man! about the throttle delay, unfortunately its not just the Transmitter Receiver its actually on the ESC as well, I had mine replaced to a RC6GS though it did lessen the delay it was still noticeable, I tried to switch the ESC with a cheap surpass hobby one and the delay was completely gone. The nice thing about the ESC change is it can now go to a super low speed and gracefully transition to higher speeds. I find that the stock ESC seems to "jump" around on the speed. What I mean about that is when you pull the trigger in about 1/4th and you pull it a little more it will go on full throttle as if it can't modulate the speeds properly (I mean its a very durable ESC, waterproof too but it feels like it was meant for speedruns), I hope this info helps! Anyways awesome videos as always!!! hope to see more of your stuff and maaaan, this channel is so underrated :( . Oh and by the way just a tidbit info here: Have you seen one of those HSP/Exceed/Redcat Volcano platform? the super old platform (so old in fact that UltimateRC reviewed it as the Exceed Dynamite from 9yrs ago!) I think Redcat refreshed it as the Redcat Volcano EXP. Now I've seen the kit version from aliexpress being sold as a no-name kit brand with no body shell, electronics and tires. Just search for HSP kit and look for the short course truck version as the monster truck version has some geometry issues with its dogbone. The reason why I'm telling you this is because I think its an extremely cheap RC kit for beginners and not everyone knew about it (because of it being a no name brand) it goes around for as little as 60usd, you can buy 2 of them and use the other one as a complete replacement. I did an estimate and found that I can build the whole kit for less than 130usd if I already have my own transmitter receiver and maybe 145usd if I buy a dumborc combo.

It's the fastest rc there is under 200, it's the fastest rtr rc there is under 300 even. It's a good looking car too. For so cheap and so much speed I can't really hold its lack of durability against it ( you had much better luck there than I did) That blue steering wheel also indicates its longer range over the v1. It's basically exactly a shortened 124017 v2. It's good. I liked reviewing mine, but it was destroyed in a drag race with a senton hahahaha. Good work sir, awesome video as always.

144001 In my experience, even if you fill the differentials with vaseline at the very beginning, they still don't last very long. Because it's not proper steel, the gear material, but some kind of zinc alloy. I believe this 144010 model uses same differential parts.. But you can buy stronger parts.

Man, josiah has completely taken over my 124017. He crashed into a rock and I told him that he can’t do that or things will break. He immediately did it again, but faster and broke the front driveshaft (a arms were upgraded to aluminum)… now he gets to wrench on it 😂. You guys look like you’re having as much fun as we do. I even got momma out there with an Arrma granite vortex and a ramp build underway!
Lol yup I know how that goes lol. Max has gotten much better but still sometimes does things that make me question if he may be from a completely different planet sent here to infiltrate our minds. Well, I’ve tried upgrading two different toy grades now and always find it more difficult than it’s worth before I even start lol. One channel that has done a few like that is Van City RC. However he has a 3D printer for making much needed adapters which certainly helps.

Evan buddy, the throttle delay is only caused by theis crappy esc. ive tried it with dumbo and flysky fs gt5 and it didn't make any difference. What help a tiny bit is changing neutral range to minimum value (you can use a standard surpass hobby program card to eo that) anyways good job with keeping us entertained frontlip lord ✌️

I find cv joint grease to be the best diff crown wheel lube and I use nulon PTFE assembly lube in the diff .that helps it to bind up just a wee bit as well as it's the best possible lube
I bought a flysky fsgt5 remote with a $12 3 channel fa-a3 reciever (i used the bs6 reciever that came with it on my embt) and it removed about 90% of the throttle delay...much beter than the stock remote. Im still learning the remote, there may be throttle options to tweak it and make it 0% throttle delay, havnt had much play time because of work but i can guarantee that the throttle delay is minimized with my new remote. This little car is awesome, i lowered it with droop screws, swapped the tires for slightly bigger fc600 tires, lc racing plastic wing, lc racing MT front bumper, Zeee 2s 2200mah and Goldbat 3s 2200mah batteries, greased the diffs with white lithium grease and this little thing flies!

I have always been curious about those WL Toys RC’s … but I saw them on Temu and thought that they must be shitty… so, I’m going to watch your videos on them and make a better informed decision on those rigs
There’s so much better than WL toys! It’s a fun little car but they break so easily on impact. The good thing though is they have upgrade parts all over the place!
I don't know if those pins go all the way through the case. I've checked the old ones and the screws go into the case on one side bypassing the other side as there wider. All in all though the cars rock, great review and bash session.
Just a heads up. You didnt even grease the diffs brother! The whole point of greasing the WLToys diffs is because they dont ever add any grease INSIDE the diffs. They always grease the outside for the diff/drive shaft gears but that isnt as important as the actual whole point of checking the diffs. The diffs HAVE to be unscrewed and opened up themselves so you can clean and disassemble them because your car wont last and the diffs will grind to hell if you dont pack the inside of the diff casing with grease. Just a heads up.
Great content, you nearly killed that car with those head on crashes. It is tough until it starts falling apart all at once. I have the longer 1124017 and it’s a great dirt drifter\ racer which is on 3s unbelievably fast especially comparing to its size and price.
I’ve never had sand tires on this but the ones I had are probably a little bit taller. I haven’t even run this car since this video. Too fragile and the delay is ridiculous and I don’t want to fix it lol Much better options now lol

The car has NO delay the delay is the remote ..pair to a different remote the issue goes away ...if sumbody can send me that delay remote I will be able to work out what's causing the delay

Kindly would you help us by letting us know how to switch this WLToys 144010 to 3S. I just got mine based on your video and it works flawlessly on 2S. However, as soon as I put the 3S in it, only the ESC/Fan and steering that work and no throttle or wheel rotation. How do we get it to work on 3S please? You just need to replace the ESC with 2s-3s, because I asked the merchant that if the 3s battery is always used with its original accessories, it will easily damage the motor or ESC... I am now using 80a ESC and the original motor...

Yes that should work. Especially if it’s the truck on the same chassis that you’re talking about. Because the axle stubs are smaller than most. But even a wheel with a larger hole should still work.
Hello. I currently have the wl 144001, I want to level up,. I have a very large garden where I run it since there are no tracks nearby and I was thinking of buying the 144010 or 124007 or 124017 or 124019, which would be in my case the best option, I appreciate your comment. Thank you
@eduardomalcom2228 it’s definitely easy to get WL toys parts, but HBX is my favorite cheap brand. Favorite model from them is the 2997a. I’ve got a video on it from a month or two back.
Hey dude, I notice you said you can use an s3 battery. I tied one but didn't work. It's the same brand and 2200mah but my says 50c and is longer. Does 35c and 50c make a difference?
I confirm with a different 3s battery. The wltoys 144010 that I received is not compatible with 3s. I may have received different ESC revisions that don't support 3s battery. Is there an ESC that I can buy to swap out for the stock one that may supports 3s?

My pinon gear keeps coming loose. any advice? Every time I try and tighten it, it seems fine, but then when I run my car it doesn't last more than a min or so before I hear the motor screaming at me!
That stinks! Have you tried using loctite on the little set screw? That should do the trick. Use “blue” loctite. The red or green is too strong. amzn.to/3pnQybJ

The car has NO delay the delay is the remote ..pair to a different remote the issue goes away ...if sumbody can send me that delay remote I will be able to work out what's causing the delay

No not the purple buggy, though that one looks nice too. This is the 1/14 monster truck that looks just like a mini Kraton.

Kindly would you help us by letting us know how to switch this WLToys 144010 to 3S. I just got mine based on your video and it works flawlessly on 2S. However, as soon as I put the 3S in it, only the ESC/Fan and steering that work and no throttle or wheel rotation. How do we get it to work on 3S please? Thank you for any feedback and Marry Christmas sir.
You just need to replace the ESC with 2s-3s, because I asked the merchant that if the 3s battery is always used with its original accessories, it will easily damage the motor or ESC... I am now using 80a ESC and the original motor...

Yes that should work. Especially if it’s the truck on the same chassis that you’re talking about. Because the axle stubs are smaller than most. But even a wheel with a larger hole should still work.

@eduardomalcom2228 it’s definitely easy to get WL toys parts, but HBX is my favorite cheap brand. Favorite model from them is the 2997a. I’ve got a video on it from a month or two back.

Hey dude, I notice you said you can use an s3 battery. I tied one but didn't work. It's the same brand and 2200mah but my says 50c and is longer. Does 35c and 50c make a difference?
That shouldn’t necessarily make a difference as far as I know. Does it not even turn on?

I confirm with a different 3s battery. The wltoys 144010 that I received is not compatible with 3s. I may have received different ESC revisions that don't support 3s battery. Is there an ESC that I can buy to swap out for the stock one that may supports 3s?

My pinon gear keeps coming loose. any advice? Every time I try and tighten it, it seems fine, but then when I run my car it doesn't last more than a min or so before I hear the motor screaming at me!

Have you tried using loctite on the little set screw? That should do the trick. Use “blue” loctite. The red or green is too strong. amzn.to/3pnQybJ

Ah man I love mine but the throttle delay does ruin it a little 😞… I changed the receiver and transmitter and that helped a lot but there’s still something there
So goofy they would leave that delay there! Other people have said the esc is part of it as well! Pretty fun car otherwise!

Wltoys Are toys. They could be hobby grade if it wasn't for the crap electronics and subpar metal and plastic which cause too many issues.
I know. The cheap plastics and metal is so disappointing. Great performance on a chassis that can’t really take it lol
