- In the basement of Nissan North America’s headquarters in Tennessee there’s a secret museum curated by volunteers in the company… and Larry Chen gets to drive some classic cars around! There’s pieces of racing history like Steve Millen’s SMZ, a 1-of-1 Nismo Motorsports convertible, and Geoff Brabham’s GTP ZX-Turbo from Electro-Motive Diesel still in the last tires it raced on! There’s historical Datsuns like a rebuilt 240Z, a 200SX, and a fleet of Fairladys! There’s prototype honeycomb wheels and concepts like the Gobi pickup and the Mirano Actic! And a Nissan 300, and a 1980 280ZX in black gold, and a robin’s egg blue Patrol…

Larry is such a huge asset to Hoonigan. Always with the fire videography and gnarly subject matter. This was an awesome treat and a cool look into the history of Nissan/Datsun. I’m late to an appointment but I’m glad I got to watch this instead. Thank you Larry and Hoonigan for showcasing such awesome car content.

I find it absolutely insane that Nissan doesn't have anyone on payroll to curate and maintain this collection. Unfortunately it fits their M.O.
But this maybe explains why he was allowed to drive it.

As a person who grew up in Gardena, I really miss the OG Datsun/Nissan building.

That orange 350z is fire!
The B210. I just gave up my own after 46 yesterday last May. Was my mum's hand me down. And boy I learnt about points condensers cams sidelights compression and most importantly Electromotive and Datsun Competition Department.
Those cars were a poor man's limo or racecar. 69hp from the 1.2 easily got to 100hp with some money spent . You guys got the 1.4 emissions engine and then transistor ignition the IC ignition. 10k ram easy is the 1st 3vgears with good springs cam and cabby. Cash for clunkers killed my getting parts for my 4door. It still is in limbo at my body shop guy who is almost finished with his B210. Of course my drivetrain is going into his Anyway a 4dpor B210 is a must for that collection. Listen to yourselves about the attention the coupe gets

I’m a Nissan fanatic I’ve been my entire 42 years of life I thought I knew a lot but the freaking knowledge that these 2 have just blows me away. I would absolutely love to sit and talk with them for a couple days and that still wouldn’t be enough time for me 😂

So far in Modern Times, we have Rob at Z car Garage, keeping the Z mechanically modern. And we had Sung Kang in 2015 with FuguZ which impacted the World Value of the S30.
And Larry Chen , you have become so synonymously Intergrated with the Z Car ,culture and History, and of Datsun Z ,personalities and ,for so much, of JDM culture. " Like NOBODY" ,else past or present.

I had a 72 240z and what a car it was. It could do a hundred all day long and get 20mpg . All it needed was a 350 Chevy under the hood and a set of man sized brakes. Mine had a set of Koni shocks and mag wheels and I think I would never sold it if I wouldn't have got a 68 Vette.
120 y bumper looks massive on that thing compared to what we got in Australia

8:00 I was fortunate enough to get to drive this exact car in Arizona, quite a while before they released the GTR.
That was a game changing experience.
There was this one, a blue one, a red one and maybe a black one a bit later on. The blue and red were left hand drive.

I use to live in Franklin, went to highschool not far from the Headquarters and I remember seeing the Pre-Production Silver GTR at the Mapco down the street before the GTRs were available to buy and literally pooping my pants.

I was hoping you guys would have looked at a late 80s maxima station wagon with the og Siri. My parents had one growing up mid 90s and we rarely saw any other ones. And whenever you get a car you start to notice them everywhere and I only spotted maybe 3 wagons in the years that we had it. Once we walked out to the parking lot and there was an identical one parked next to us and it blew our minds we had to look inside to see which one was ours.
I definitely volunteer to be the guy that makes sure each one of those cars gets driven if no one else wants to

the 410 and 411 actually preceeded the 510, the 510s goal was to look "less european".
The 410/411 to me heavily look like a prince skyline.

Hey Larry, google the Nissan Prince Skyline GT (1966/67) that was limited production (300?) to Australia to qualify to race as a production car at Bathurst. It was a sedan with 2 litre 6 cylinder with triple Weber carbs. Real collectors item here in Oz

Just ignore that Xterra, why doncha?? 😂 They need a 2003 Xterra next to it in Atomic Orange, manual, supercharged, sunroof, Rockford Fosgate sound system with sub, and the dealer-installed Nismo package with the Bilstein shocks, Nismo intake, and Ray's Engineering TE37XTs. That would be the unicorn of all unicorns, other than the one-off stuff they have there.

Even before you showed the VIN plate I thought "3 litre?". No it´s a 4 litre. You can see it when looking at the plate. It´s the P40.
I know many people would disagree but I don't think the Yugo should be in the most dangerous category. Believe it or not there bumpers were stronger than people give them credit for that could take quite a impact and if they did rollover they rolled over on their roof and the roof did not cave in. Definitely not the safest car on the road but not the worst either. Compacted steel was stronger than most cars today.
I would let Larry drive my car any day of the week. You can see how much he respects the vehicle when the bus starts to pull awat.

Had many 240,260,280's. Last one was the one I keep. Early '72 zero rust. Sadly sold it. Made 8k+ but I regret it all the time. It was a woman's choice, and she's not even around anymore and if I knew rat the car would still be with me.
