But his fight to change U.S. policy toward the island didn’t stop there.
Named one of Time’s 100 most influential people in 2022, Smalls grabbed international headlines during the pandemic for organizing employees of e-commerce giant Amazon into the first independent, worker-led union in U.S. history.
Follow Chris and a delegation of young U.S. labor leaders around Havana in a new production from award-winning media outlet, Belly of the Beast:

They didn't got the best part, get away from race and move over to the side of culture, you got all kinds of people in Cuba too, some like each other, some not but they are not killing each other because of their differences. Politic does that. My country is pretty special but they should have gone to Sam Miguel del Padron, La Corea, Los quema'os (where I grew up), Pogoloti, Alamar, Cerro. He was just doing guided communist tourism. If he goes to any of those places I mentioned with all those gold chains he doesn't come out alive. Hahahahaha. Props for trying but those of us who grew up in the "Belly of the beast" Still know what's up.

We don't have Afrocuban people, we are all Afrocuban. No matter the color of your skin, who doesn't have of Congo have of Carabalí people. We are just Cubans period. Too bad you are not living in Cuba the way actual nationals live, work hard the entire month day in and day out, by the first week your salary is done, you have nothing left, then to the black market we go! And maybe with a little bit of luck we can put some food on the table. The healthcare system is broken, we have no medical supplies, and our acquisition power is nonexistent. Believe me, I was born and raised in Havana, the American blockade is the list of the problems Cuba has. The day our countrymen and women decide to stand up for a proper democracy and a legal free market, the United States of America will be forced by their own people to shut down the Blockade just to reopen direct commerce with Cuba.

    • @Arcexey

@@piterb.5444 A leak from the CIA has said that one of the reasons it has to hold down Cuba is that it cannot allow the world to see a healthcare system that works. Cuba's healthcare may be broken because it has no supply chain of medical supplies but the USA's healthcare is broken on purpose to keep its citizens unhealthy.

The struggle is 100% real. I am 100% against this embargo and 100% against their form of government. I came back 30 minutes later to look for it, and figured my efforts were in vain. I couldn't find it on the ground, but as I was about to give up, a young Cuban man chased me down telling me he was looking everywhere for me after he saw me misplace my phone. since Americans can't use the hotels and only use AirBnBs it's like you're already leaving your stuff in a completely foreign family's protection.

they even said they agreed with the locals that getting cat called in Cuba is actually a way to protect you. it's a respect thing, that the community did that to label the women as protected and to announce it to others.

Your portrayal of the healthcare system as a success is misleading. The reality for many Cubans is far from what you depict; they are enduring immense struggles under a regime that has been controlled by the same family for over 65 years. This isn't merely about healthcare inefficiencies; it's about the systemic repression of a nation.
You seem to overlook the glaring issue of over 1000 political prisoners and the stark absence of free expression. Consider this: if someone like Chris were a black Cuban, his fate could be similar to that of Luis Manuel Otero Alcantara or Maykel Castillo, both of whom have suffered under this regime for their dissent.
It's disheartening to see your channel attempt to shape the narrative about Cuba in such a way, diverting attention from the core issues. The rampant repression experienced by Cubans is not a byproduct of the U.S. embargo. The root causes are deeper, tied to the lack of fundamental freedoms - the freedom to move, organize, speak, think, or create. These are not constraints imposed from outside; they are woven into the fabric of the current regime.
In closing, my hope, contrary to the picture you paint, is for the Cuban people to find the freedom they truly deserve. This will only be possible with the end of the totalitarian communist regime that has held the nation back for far too long.
