- This is my 2011 Toyota Avalon. I've had it for just over a year now. I figured it was time to do a "long term" owner review.
My experience with the car has been great, and I've loved it! For anyone looking to pick up a 3rd gen Toyota Avalon, I'd highly recommend it. Especially the 2011-12 ones that had the facelift.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

The prices on these now are fucking insane. Dealers are smoking crack man. Be happy you got one brother they are really nice cars
What are you seeing for prices? Definitely happy I got one when I did!
@@theaveragecar672 like 15k for avalaons with well over 100k

Great review! So personable, sincere and gracious. 👍
Just got a 2011 limited with 57k miles. Coming from my 2013 sonata, it's been a huge upgrade
What are the new features?
Congrats on the new-to-you Avalon. They're really great cars!

@@kingofuseddurablecars.ls6040that's only 26k miles a year not that unbelievable if he lives in America and needs to drive to work everyday
These periodic updates after purchase are great. I'm looking for a one owner, garage kept Avalon. Thanks you for your effort in posting this great video.
John
Initial reviews are great, but most people want to know what the car is like after owning it for a somewhat extended period of time. I’ll be sure to do another around the 2 year ownership mark! Thanks!
Nice man! I got a 2006 Avalon Limited with the rare radar cruise control package around the same time you got your 2011 and I feel exactly the same way about the car. Mine also has about 180k miles as well! I also recently got a 2015 Rav4 Limited for all my hauling needs, if only the Avalon had folding rear seats
Jealous of that radar cruise control! They really are amazing cars, I'm surprised at how much I grew to love it. Luckily with that huge trunk and backseat, you can fit a good amount in the Avalon. There are still times I need to borrow a vehicle for certain needs though, I'd definitely like to pick up a second SUV or truck for that.
@@theaveragecar672 yeah radar cruise was such an expensive package back then that made almost nobody get it. I’m also jealous of those LED tail lights the 2010+ Avalons got!
I also have a 2011 Limited Blizzard Pearl white over the 2 tone black/Bordeax leather. Apparently a hard to find interior color. Bought with 54k now has 128k. Only issue Ive had is the rear power sunshade gear broke so I had to disable it to avoid the grinding sound. Maintenance wise I've replaced: alternator, battery, brakes, couple sets of HID bulbs, front struts. Engine and transmission wise it runs like a sewing machine. Amazingly, still on the same set of Michelin tires I put on it right after I bought it. I have oil changes done at my local Toyota dealer at 7000 mile intervals. I have noticed a little less fuel economy than I should be getting, around 400 miles range but most of it is higher speed interstate driving 80mph plus. I'm torn on selling it while the mileage isnt too high or just driving it til the wheels fall off.
Love my 2010. It's still smooth and powerful.
Absolutely, great power for the weight and how smooth it is!
Check your oil cooler lines and see they are the metal ones vice the metal-rubber-metal ones. That was a huge problem for Lexus, Avalon, and not sure if you car was the upgraded ones or not. Great looking car.
Love the 2011!
They're amazing!
Nice update and enjoyed your style of review lol.
I saw your other video. You are correct these are nice. I went back to back on 06 Avalons.
2012-2015 06 XLS trim
2015 - present 06 Limited
First one had 112k miles retired at 173 to get my Limited 06 at 95k miles. That was 2015. I’m currently at 190,500k miles on 06 limited.
There’s a 2012 with 63k miles at a dealer 🤔 lol
I think I’m done tho. Lol. I just recently replaced my spark plugs and ignition coils. That’s the only pain man because it’s easy to fix but not the back 3, if you DIY. Anyways these are the best cars but my car is starting to age but runs great!!! 7 long reliable years!! I will continue to drive it until no more. Probably until 230k miles lol
Thanks for reading and yes I humble my friends because they say old man car until they get in and yes the back seat is the spot lol
I added 20” rims to mine. Needed to do a mini makeover on mine to keep my interest lol. Your Avalon looks like mine, same tint shade too.
You love your 06's! Haha that's awesome though, happy to hear that they've treated you well. You've got to put up a video of it with the 20's!
@@theaveragecar672 😂 I didn’t think about that. I have put my factory tires back on. Smoother ride of course but winter is coming! Also my exhaust pipe will need replacing soon, gaskets, the whole exhaust kit. Close to $1200. Normal wear and tear but the timing of it. Already spent around $800 fixing the wheel hub and spark plugs combined over the summer 😩 but it’s power is back. I almost want to trade in but I’m not in the mood for a new used car but I digress.
Thanks for the response though. Hope all is well with yours! 👍🏾
Great video! Watched this and some others before I purchased essentially the same car recently. I heard you mention some avalon forums, which ones might you suggest for a new owner?
I joined the Avalon forum on Facebook! It’s called “Toyota Avalon Owners”
Try to keep your eyes on some rims at the used yard and on line. In general I would pull a sub from a used yard. Take note all cars don't run off of the same ohms or resistance. It is important to replace a car speaker with the same size and same resistance or ohms. Great video great car.
Bro said he is 5’8 on a good day 😂
Toyota Avalon is one of the best vehicle Toyota ever made !!! You will never have engine and transmission problem. It will easily reach 300,000 miles without a problem !!!!
My lights were flickering too, ended up just being the bulbs, replaced and now have no issues
Were they flickering regularly? Mine is so random, and not consistent. I thought about replacing the bulbs, but just going to wait until it becomes a more consistent issue. Thanks!
Good timing, I just got a 2011 Avalon, coming from an 03 Camry LE. If you're able to answer, how was it adjusting to the size of the Avalon over smaller sedans? Over the years I've developed a kinda "sixth sense" for how big my Camry is and how it fits on to the road. Am a little nervous driving something larger and floatier but obviously the pros outweigh the cons any day.
Coming from an 03 Camry, I think it might just take a few days to adjust honestly. It's not drastic enough of a difference to take longer than that. I would get out of the car and check how my parking was to get a better idea of my distance from a car or curb, but I adjusted pretty quick.
You're going to love the car! Congrats on the purchase!
I want to get one but waiting for probably summer, im hearing car prices are finally going down. I got scammed for 15k for a 08 lexus gs350 from a dealer that had a leaking head gasket. I'm so mad. But not much I can do .
How old are you ? You sound kinda young for this car LOL . I heard it's marketed for older people in their 60s . I'm 58 yo so I'm getting there :LOL . Seriously looks like super comfortable huge car like those 70-80s boat size caddys and Lexus
A body shop would be able to sand and re-clear coat those wheels. Probably cheaper than new ones.
Bought one yesterday waiting for delivery. It’s black with 35k on it
Nice. What did you pay? What State? I'm finalizing a deal tomorrow.
thats a unicorn, good shit
If you lived in the Cincinnati area, I have some extra rubber mats you can have. I own a 2011 Avalon Limited as well. Best car I’ve ever owned.
Appreciate the offer. I actually picked up some rubber mats off Amazon from Motor Trend. They're incredible for the price, I put up a video of those as well. The Avalon is an incredible car, happy to hear you're loving yours as well!
@@theaveragecar672update; 247k miles and still runs great!
Nice one
Thanks!
I am going to look at the 2011 toyota avalon limited with 102k miles tomorrow, it’ll by my first car that isn’t a total shitbox hopefully the deal goes through 🙏
do you think 102k miles is a little too many miles? i don’t have much experience about car life longevity
also one more question I am planning to take my box with two 12 subs into the Avalon if all goes well how would fitting that in there go?
I don't think 102k miles is much, as long as it's been maintained. Mine was regularly maintained and I picked it up around 165k. I have over 180k now.
As for the subs, I'm not too sure honestly. I guess it would depend on the measurement of the sub box!
I have a 2011 Limited in Magnetic Gray Metallic. Best car that I have ever owned. Have you looked into having your wheels repaired?
I haven't looked into getting them repaired actually, I had no idea that was even an option! I was just looking at getting some rims off another Toyota. I'll have to look into that.
A car lot in my city has a 2011 Avalon pearl white has 190,000 miles on it tho..looks taken care of but I’m kinda hesitant..what do you think?
I think it’s worth looking at. The biggest thing is going to be maintenance. I wouldn’t be hesitate to buy a 200k mile Toyota if it’s been well maintained. Check it out, and if you’re interested, take your own mechanic with you to run through it. Or take it to a shop to do a pre purchase inspection. It’s like $100 and can save you a ton of headaches
Have you done the spark plugs? Also transmission fluid change? If the engine light start flashing on the highway and start losing power is the spark plugs. The best thing is trying to do everything yourself. I don’t trust mechanics anymore.
I haven't done either since I bought the car. I agree though, it's tough to find a trustworthy mechanic.
was the tint aftermarket? I notice a lot of these cars come without the tint
Yes tint was after market. This thing was a fish bowl before lol
@@theaveragecar672 lol. Ok. Tint is better off
I have the same car as you my mileage is 275 run good

Finalizing a private party purchase on a '11 Avalon Limited with 68k for $13,750 (I'm in NJ). Car is in emasculate condition inside/out. Had a PPI done and all checked out great. Think I'm overpaying? Thanks.
Tough to say as markets can vary. I paid around 8k for mine at 165k miles. If you plan on running it into the ground, I don’t think it’s a bad deal. It’s basically a brand new luxury car for under $14!
@@theaveragecar672 thanks for your reply. Much appreciated. Anything in terms of maintenance I should keep an eye on with the '11 Avalon?
The oil cooler line is a weak point in the 3.5. I believe the factory line was just super cheap material and should have been a steel line. If that gives out, your oil will drain out. I’m not sure on the cost of the replacement, but I know its an issue many people with the same engine have dealt with
I finalized the deal about 7 months ago. Landed at $11,750and is the best purchase ever made....
I'm looking now into a second car - '12 Avalon limited with just 26k. Toyota dealer is sking $15,490. Maybe beat them down a bit.

How is it in the snow ❄️
I don’t have a lot of snow where I live, so I haven’t had experience myself. But with a good set of snow tires, you should do pretty well!
I purchased a 2011 Avalon Limited and it has been a BLESSING FROM ABOVE I had a 1998 Honda Accord Coupe since 2001 motor quiet but I donated it to the Breast Cancer foundation and That's when ABBA FATHER BLESSED ME PEACE 🕊️ LOVE 💕 TO YOU ALL✨🙏🏾✨
What type of real mpg are these avalons getting?
I can get like 28 on the highway, summer fuel, going 70-75 with no wind. That’s the best I’ve got
@@theaveragecar672 thanks, thats still really good for the size, read some get over 30 i cant really see that but I'll take 28
I’ve gotten over 30 on a short trip, but I typically just average everything over a full tank. 28 over 350-400 miles isn’t bad for me considering the size and how comfortable it is!
How much you selling it for?
No plans on selling it at the moment
how much did you pick this bad boy up?
I paid $8400 for mine if I remember correctly
Any bad thing we must know abt this model avalon
Not that I know. As long as it has been maintained well, it should be a good car.

What are the main things we have to look after ?
What’s the mile range when it full ?
It can depend. It could range from like 350-450

Theres a recall on subwoofer
I called my local Toyota dealership about this, and it sounds like the previous owner took the car in for the recall years ago. I'm probably going to just go aftermarket on the sub and replace it myself.
