I remember eating fresh row on toast my dad would make me in primary school I miss that bloke man😂💪🏻thanks for the memories bearing in mind I’m only 26 I’m definitely old school just like my late farther, hope you and family okay pal .
Glad you enjoyed it mate.
According to nats expression between roe and kippers we'll be calling you captain blackeye if you keep up this fishy business lol 😅
😅😅
lmao mate
😂😂😂😂
You can get Princes Pressed Cod Roe from Asda mate... A 200g tin costs £2.50... I ordered some myself from there the other day... Unfortunately they had run out of stock... I've just had a quick look... And they still haven't been restocked yet... My sister buys those larger tins from our local market... But i don't know how much it costs her... But i would expect a similar kind of price as here... My favourite Chippy tea when i was a kid... Was a mixture of Cod Roe... Spam Fritter... Jumbo Battered Sausage... Chips & Mushy Peas... And if they had any left... A Scoop of Scraps too... Also with plenty of Salt & Vinegar sprinkled over everything... Delicious. 😋👌
Good old scraps mate, Delicious
👏🏽👏🏽 Roe is most definitely up there. Love it from my local chippy with a scallop, and shit loads of salt n vinegar. Mint 👌🏽
Delicious mate
I love roe with a little bit of tomato sauce. There's only one place in Swindon that still sells them, about £2.50 for 2. The other stuff you cant seem to get also witch I loved living as a kid in London is Skate, Place, and Rock. Gorgeous.
Oddly enough, I was looking for pressed cod roe (that’s what it used to be called) here in Wales and couldn’t find any, anywhere. I just had a hankering for it and was disappointed. Dad used to slice it and fry it directly back in the 80s. Never had it battered and never saw it in any northern chippies so it must be a Midlands exclusive (like chips and gravy used to be a Northern thing). Now I want some! Pleased you enjoyed it and thanks for making it.
Glad you enjoyed it asseyez
Me mam loved Roe. I live in Scotland now, I don't think I've seen it on the menu. You have sent me down memory lane and the taste buds are watered lol x
Thanks User
Love Roe used to have it all the time, mom cooked it every Friday with chips & mushy peas now can't find it anywhere.
Thanks Janet
Amazon UK,, or the fish society UK

Memorys from my childhood great vid
Only ever had fresh cod roe, fried, just served as an added extra to our fish and chips, this was in the 1960s
Delicious
Hi kieth you can get cod roe in your supermarkets in the tinned fish aisle. This one isn't for me I prefer salmon and trout roe wich is similar to caviar but tastes of buttery salmon ❤ edit: forgot to mention your homemade chips looks bang on love 😊
Thank you Holy
Neither ASDA, Morrisons, Sainsburys or even Booker Cash and Carry stock Cod Roe anymore.
I purchase mine online from Cfood Catering in Sussex. Wonderful stuff and really good for you.
Tesoc's website says they sell it but I've never found it in there
Thanks for that mate
if i remember the fresh stuff from fish mongers was a light colour and slippery
Yes mate
Old skool simple food is allways best
Yes mate
I'm used to frying the roe on the pan then serve it on some roasted and buttered rye bread with remoulade and lemon S/P. I'd like to try the batter and deep fry, maybe even panko if we're getting dirty with it.
So it's basically fish spam?
Better mate
Asda used to do the tins of cod roe for £1.50 but they were about a third of that size. For some reason Asda haven't had it for months. The one you have says it's a catering size
Thanks Doreen
I just googled Norwegian Cod Roe for sale,on Etsy it’s $ 104 for 3 400g tins,a bit more expensive in the US.
wow
I've got two tins in the fridge and three tins of kippers too, however me mum never battered the roe but simply fried it on the pan! 😀🇩🇰
Delicious
Can't beat Roe and chips Keith, the thicker the better 👍😁
Our local Chippy charges £5.00 take away Roe and chips.

Love roe esp on bread and butter
Oh yes
What is roe?? I thought it was fish eggs??
Fish eggs in the sac I think
Roe is fish eggs. This is cod roe, it has a very creamy dense texture similar to liver and much different from other edible fish roes like sturgeon caviar, lumpfish caviar, salmon a, trout and flying fish roe which are all balls that pop in your mouth
It is mate. Used to call it poor mans food
