it is about strength but it is also about hand size. the men had the strength to lift it easily, but their hands were too big. the kids' hands were definitely small enough, but they lacked the strength.

You could probably get the bar to lean up against the hole then fish it out with both thumbs ontop and index fingers and digitus' on the bottom which would work with any size hands
