I honestly think I'd be happy just being a Pokémon metal channel.
It was actually an extremely overwhelming positive feeling to do a first generation Pokémon song again. I remember back in 2010, starting to learn some of the music to these games and absolutely falling in love with arranging and playing it. I guess over the years I felt I was either doing it too much or people weren't really into it as much as other stuff.
This cover exceeds the range of a guitar in standard tuning so I used the Blackjack's sustainiac system to really let those second string harmonics ring as long as I needed them. That was actually the main reason I bought the guitar in 2015, I really liked the idea of having infinite sustain at my disposal for covering music like this!
I finished Pokémon Let's Go Eevee last week and completed my Pokedex a few days ago, and it's really made me want to cover more of this stuff. I hope you guys enjoyed or are enjoying that and it makes you enjoy this cover even more! Thanks so much for listening!

Well, you've done it. This is going to be a Megadeth morning for me. I've had The Disintegrators in my head for weeks so it's time. (underrated?) I'm interested in which song you think would best represent a good bassline? I didn't use to have a good enough ear to really appreciate those back when I was really into Megadeth.
yes, that's why the blue version is best out of all the different kanto themes, later version do not highlight this bassline. this bassline is deeply anxiety inducing and makes the song

I seriously screamed at my phone when I got the notification this was up! I love both the simplicity and complexity you've captured in this melody! Other people have a tendency to overdo the 'metal' of songs. You are able to make it metal while still allowing the other instruments shine through when and where they need to. I always love your take on Pokémon songs. :)

i love the part at 0:03 where it's super quiet but the tension's still just building, it really does encapsulate the feeling of staring the other trainer down right as the battle's starting

How can I replace the original battle theme from Pokémon Red and Blue to this masterpiece on my GB emulator?
You can't because of the limitations of the Game Boy's sound chip. There's literally not enough channels, and not the correct types of channels, to handle FamilyJules' arrangement. NES technology (side note, the Game Boy and Game Boy Color are, in laymans terms, more or less the same as the NES) doesn't just "play the sounds", there's a lot more to it than that. You can get a sense for this by using software like FamiTracker, which allows you to create music in a way that's compatible with NES period tech.
Methinks we have to build a new engine in modern tech to restore old gems that well.
Like goldeneye in the cry3 engine.
