My first car was a 92 325is. But I've always dreamed of owning a e36 m3. last year I was able to purchase one! It's a 1995 alpine white m3 with a slicktop. It has a long journey to be were I want it to be at. That's what that turbo would be going on 😍. Good luck to all that enter to win it!
Ratios are the same, you just get an overdrive 6th. What you should do is throw on a rearend from the E36 325iA (automatic trans) as it is a 3.91 gear. It will make it a rocketship and that 6th gear will make sense on the highway. I did just that years ago and blew everybodies doors off.
True, I've heard a 3.91 rear diff with .87 6th gear ratio feels as long as the 3.23 diff with 1.0 5th gear ratio

My dad just bought a e46 m3 and I'm so addicted to the power. I've had my e36 328i vert for almost a year and the plan was always to turbo. I'm about to do a standalone and then the car will be ready for a turbo setup.
Oh baby I would totally put that on my 92 325is E36! I created a Frankenstein engine from an M50 non Vanos using 3.0 rotating assembly, and I did a very similar 6 speed swap! The head came with a pair of pretty hot Schrick Cams and a Euro M3 stainless header on it. I managed to squeak out 215 horsepower to the wheels with a W.A.R. chip ....but adding that turbo would bring it up probably close to 300 which is exactly where it needs to be! Holy hell that would RULE!
Sure I'd love to put it on my 1995 E36 M3.
It's my dream too as well as the 6 speed. On my Avis blue automatic coupe.

I swapped a 6 speed MT into my 99 E36 M3. What made an even bigger difference was swapping Z3 steering rack. So much better!!

I purchased a 01 740il Highline for $500 a week ago. A lot of important peices missing though 😠. It does however, run and drive 😁 and it has a good title
Can't wait to see the end result on the 6 speed swap. I have the same issue here in SC with running 80-90 mph on the interstate with the annoying high RPM. Going to boost my 97 M3 coupe and your turbo would be a welcomed addition. I enjoy the channel and keep up the good content!!!!

When I was doing research about buying an e36 as my first car 2 years ago, I came across your channel and that's kinda what sold me on the car. I now have owned my 98 328i (In arctic silver!) sedan with a 5 speed ever since. What's funny is I was going a bunch of research a few days ago on what I'd need to turbo the car, since that's what I've been wanting to do all along.

My e36 is going N/A... stroke it, cam it and ITB. Don’t forget about that sick head work to make it all flow lol. Sound is gonna be incredible
When I was looking for a first fun non-daily driver car to buy, I found your channel. It was after a few of your videos when I decided to buy an e36 myself! I purchased myself a shockingly cheap 328i and loved it. While its great, it does need a bit of a bump in power, even after the NA modifications I've done to it. Next step is forced induction, and boy, this turbo would defenitly do the job!
Oh nice my buddy is rebuilding his m54b30 this turbo would be the perfect cherry on top of the rebuild 🍒

Just bought my first car in January, its a 1985 325e coupe with an m20b25 head swap. I just got it running and would love to be able to gap all my friend's cars with my car!!!
Read on the forums that the six speeds are just way stronger and most people who run turbos get them only for strength
The 5 spd is a better box overall imho.
But that 6th gear is great for highway cruising .

Disagree. The 420g is much stronger. Only benifits of the zf is that its cheaper and lighter.

That turbo on my 98 328i would pull a premium one week before race wars.
The reason the US spec S52B32 is actually a completely different engine to the euro (rest of the world) spec is so much more powerful & a 6 speed box, the e30 m3 absolutely flopped in the US, so they didn't want to pump money into e36 m3's which would statistically be left unsold

Own 92 (first year) 325is supercharged. Current issue with Getrag 250g (5speed). What is the length difference between E46 M3 6 speed and 330i 6 speed? I’m assuming you are using true 6 speed and NOT SMG for conversion. Your feedback would be helpful as I’m in the process of sourcing parts and would like to know if I can follow your swap and parts used.
Any other links you may have where someone already swapped 330i 6 speed would be very helpful as well! Gs6-37bz is much easier and cheaper to find in my area.

What kidney grills do you have? Mine came with a set of black ones that don't fit very well, I've been needing to replace them but I've heard bad things about some aftermarket grill fitment; yours look like they fit pretty fantastically though

Im doing the 335i trans and dkm twindisk in my e36. The company just taking forever to send my adapter kit. Been over a month. Im dying to drive it because my m122 supercharger is coming.
335i trans is the way to go, just more expensive. Who did you use for the adapter kit?

I've got a very similar car to yours, 97 M3/4/6... E46 6-speed, with ltw sm flywheel, originally a 325i slave but just switched to e36 M3 slave to make the clutch feeling a bit lighter (still heavy, but even with 325i slave my leg was getting a workout vs stock). I'm curious how your project turns out. My flywheel chatter is a bit annoying once the trans fluid is warm no matter what mixture of fluids I use and my clutch is still a bit heavy for my style of driving. A constant project but worth the effort and money.
Which clutch and flywheel did you end up going with?
@@TreatsOnTheStreets I ended up going with VAC Motorsports ClutchMaster 725 series. They did disclose the higher pedal pressure (50ish % if my memory serves correct). The aluminum flywheel measured about 8.5lbs. Clutch pedal holding force was 220N after the install with 325i slave, did not measure before. After replacing with e36 M3 slave the force was reduced to 190N. Depending on your results I may tear back into it 😉.
Which models can u source the 6 speed from? I found a getrag from an 07
Currently buying parts for a m50 swap into my e36 318, building the m50 in preparation for a turbo so that would help alot. One day will do a 6 swap too cheers!
The E36 Came with a 6 speed manual. But only the Euro spec had it.
I own a car with the ZF 5-speed and another one with the 420g 6-speed and I prefer the feel of the ZF. Don't know if the US M3 had ZF or Getrag 5-speed..?
US m3 has the zf 5 speed. I hear a lot of people say the getrag 420g is a heavier feel.
I mean I wasn't planning on it, but if I win I'll definitely drop it in my e46 330ci. Hell while I'm at it I'll drop in a LSD and a 6-speed for the ultimate "budget" m3 killer

You could've bought the E36 M3 euro 6 speed, trans which is hard to find but it would have fit your car a little bit better
