Messi still doesn't realize who he is in the history of football. The way he behaves on and off the pitch is truly remarkable. Always a great role model. The timing of this interview though couldn't be any more perfect. It highlights the difference between him and Ronaldo.
Even when he was pushed out of Barça, he didn't lash out. Instead he cried... I did too. I hope we all did because he deserved a proper grand send off, bigger than the one Puyol, Xavi, Don Andres and Pique had. It needs to happen.
I've never felt so strongly about wanting a team to win like I do with Argentina now. It will make him soooo happy and I'd give both my kidneys for it.

He’s a player with dynamic talent, and characteristics unique from the rest of the team. He hasn’t been given a real chance to make a place for himself in the team. Sure maybe if Busquets leaves, he may get more minutes, but a player shouldn’t have his whole season sacrificed just because he was brought in at a time where we’re stacked in the midfield.
What are you talking about? It’s simple to break it down. Kessie doesn’t fit BARCA at all. Kessie has qualities that he could thrive but in teams like Milan, Inter, Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea because those teams play direct, counter and defensive football. He is a player that ISN’T comfortable on the ball like Pedri, Busi, FDJ and even Gavi. If you watch games closely, whenever a player presses him, he panics and has no idea who to pass it to or loses it instead. He also lacks vision, creativity, I don’t even think he can dribble. He lacks what a Barca player should have. See, it’s that simple.

It’s great to hear that Messi has great affection for each of the coaches he won a treble under. Those were truly special times been following Barca since 2002 (twenty years, holy fuck) and i think Barca are back to where they were in 03/04. Having cleared out most of the dead wood and are a couple of key signings away from being champions league contenders. Those six years when Barca had Busquets/Xavi/Iniesta/Messi as the engine of the team were phenomenal times. Pedri and Gavi and Ansu could form a new engine with the right CDM added.

Being at the top of the game for as long as he has been, Messi definitely knows what he's talking about about that last point and I've felt that way as well. Players just don't have that sparkle as much as before, instead they're trained to be efficient from a young age. It definitely makes the game one dimensional tbh taking away the power of individual talents

Teams implement more structured ways of playing relying more on the collective. I believe it does play a part and stifles creativeness however most teams prefer this due to having more risks in game in terms of league positions and competitions, call it a safe way of playing. If you look back at early 2000s, 90s and even late 80s almost every league had world class legendary players and creative formations, particularly Italy. Football has changed quite a bit that now finding any player resembling a Messi, Ronaldo, Zlatan or even Neymar clubs are willing to splash huge cash. I think football will change again, Italians once ruled the game with defensive prowess, the Spanish with tactical possession, and for me now it is moving to a more German high octane football, with balanced width, fast wingers, mobile midfields and deadly strikers.
