    There are more than a few 'Plexi' type pedal on the market. I must have demoed a hundred or more. None, however, have featured a three-way selection of the classics - 1987, 1959SLP and JTM - until now. This is why I dig the Plexi Breed so much. It takes the discerning characteristics from those three variations and packages them in this standard size pedal that sounds stellar. Rectifier sag from the JTM? Check. Fast attack and tight distortion from the 1987? Check. Big fat headroom from the 1959SLP? Yessir. Treble and Normal Gain is here along with a smooth Tone control and master volume. This pedal wants for little except a decent clean amp platform to play it through. That, of course, will be up to you. Again, great work, Luca.
    I know there will be people wanting to see a single-coil demo; it will appear in the next week or so. Cheers.

    Best plexi sound from a pedal I’ve heard to date. Crazy good.

    Cleverly made pedal. The facility to blend the gains certainly gives it a versatility that most 'Plexi' pedals lack. I know my Thorpy (before he became ThorpyFX) pedal hasn't got that, good as it sounds.

    Sounds great. Has that classic 'stringy Marshallness' about it.

    I really like this pedal. Sounds legit - to me.

    My criticism of MIAB pedals has been that they tend to go after and do a good job of nailing the higher gain Marshall tones, even if they are specifically named a "Plexi" pedal, but hey all seem to fail when you try to do the lower gain/edge of breakup Plexi sound (think Hendrix Bold as Love). I've been using a Joyo Tech 21 clone that does a better job of these lower gain Marshall tones than most of the expensive and boutique pedals do.

    Good demo, impressive pedal and well played. Would've been helpful to hear the Tone rolled off more to hear if that would reduce the fizz somewhat to align with more true Plexi tone.

    In a literal ocean of miab pedals, that one seems to be among the better ones!
    On side note, have you tried the NUX "plexi drive" pedal? I put one on my board and man oh man it does Marshall tube amp tone and feel extremely well and at $50 it's a boat load of bang for the buck!

    looks like a modded Ramble Marvel Drive V3. The model selector knob seems to do very little. great sound anyway.

      It is actually... Almost the same circuit, is very common in the electronic world, lots of JHS pedals are copies of DIY community designs so no much love for Josh there. Almost all today fx pedals (amps too) are based on a previous design (TS, blues breaker, elektra, dist+, etc).

      Hi there, Plexi Breed is of course available on our website also in the upright layout. Just choose Plexi Breed and change the layout in the drop down menu. Thanks.

    Sounds great! Would this pedal sound as nice w single coil strat pickups? I found that sometimes distortion doesn’t behave the same crossing from double coil to single coil. Looking for a hendrix style tone

    • @BrettKingman
      @BrettKingman  Před 3 lety +5

      Yep. It does great with singles. I've actually made a video with a Strat but have been asked to hold it for a week. Stay tuned...

    I want to pull the trigger on this one because of this video but then I found out they also make Lead Trilogy that emulates three Marshall amplifiers as well. Brett are you going to do a video on that one as well?

    • @BrettKingman
      @BrettKingman  Před 3 lety +1

      I'd eventually like to cover all of Luca's pedals, Dan. But no firm arrangements have been made to do so yet, so it won't be happening this side of August unfortunately.

    What do you think about this vs other plexi type pedals, namely the Carl Martin? What I like about the Plexi (based solely on my experience using amp sims) is the jumpered channels and blending the normal and treble and this is really the only one I’m aware of that does this. I’d like to also have an actual tonestack with bass, mids, and treble control, but at that point I might as well get the actual amp lol
    I also like the PlexiRanger as I like the idea of having a treble booster rather than just a clean boost like the PlexiTone
