Lol, it is not true that England don't get carried away when they win (as Atherton says around the 8 min mark). They find moral victories even in drawn series (and they haven't won many series). When they do win matches, it is all about how they are single-handedly changing and saving Test cricket.

Never once have I heard an England captain, coach or player say they are ‘saving cricket’, whether they have just won, lost or drawn.

Mr Atherton..... You are correct.....when every test match is a new one & earlier results do not count ....but you & Naseer were of different opinion after Eng won the first test .....

Think that will be the call for whoever wins the toss tomorrow and particularly if the pitch deteriorates later on. The last two tests showed get runs on the board first puts pressure batting second and conceding a big first innings lead gave India a massive psychological advantage on days 3 and 4 in both of the last 2 tests.
Dramatic spin from first ball. England will be bamboozled and defeated in under three days. Ashwin and company will tear them apart. This is typical of Indias strategy to protect and sustain their home series victories.
As usual England have started on the pitch 😂, ridiculous even before the match started,Ben stokes talk on the DRS after the loss was totally unfair after receiving all favourable decisions going Eng way including the famous headingly test when stokes got lucky ,in some ways while i do critize indian team for their team selection,however indian team has played in all Overseas test matches with out any issue raised on the pitch.
Pitch is super important aspect in a cricket game, so of course it will be discussed. It is not the point of discussion the first time, has and will always be the case.

Rank turner brings England spinners into the game, skill sets of these spinners wouldn't be tested if it's starts spinning from first ball itself.
In last two games England bowling lineup struggled mostly because it's was a good cricketing pitch and skill sets of Indian bowlers were better than English bowlers.
wow.. so much noise about internet connection Atherton.. spend some money in a good broadband WiFi instead of using free hotel WiFi, India has decent internet coverage and for sure very Good in cities like Ranchi too.
Wifi being poor in hotels is common problem worldwide even with reputed hotels.

As an Indian fan, I would expect England to come hard at India. India should not take things lightly and I am not sure how i feel about preparing a rank turner. Like these 4 -5 days test match.

Selecting Robinson might prove costly..he might be sent to the cleaners..we have seen there is no role for trundlers (Mukesh is an example) in these conditions.I would have taken a punt with Gus Atkinson or named Dan Lawrence in place of Wood to strengthen the mediocre middle order.
Not convinced about bashir , maybe the next tour . He might take wickets but if you’re taking 2 for 120 , it’s not going to make an impact.
England should have dropped Bairstow for Lawrence he could bowl aome overs and take some pressure off Roots bowling.
Stokes bowling in this test feels like Jesus reincarnation. 😂 Definitely best all rounder but given the fact that he is coming from injury you can expect magic.
By the way, if any English crowd reading this, there's so much talk of bazball but England actually didn't win much in last few years in test cricket. England is currently absolutely bottom of the table of World Test Championship whereas India almost qualified for the final.
Why England announce their playing 11 before the day of the test match?? It plays into the hands of the opposition , let them plan accordingly as individuals as well as team.

How come modern players get tired so easily inspite of so much importance is given to their fitness? Exclusions of Bumrah and Wood are no brainer. England effectively going with 2 bowlers i.e. Anderson and Hartley. Bashir is not ready yet. India helping England by not picking Bumrah making their bowling less potent.
I still think English side has a good chance to make it 2-2 and head to Dharmashala with confidence of winning the final test.

This bazball is taking heavy toll on Anderson's body. At 41 years he is literally bowling on all the days of the match because batsmen refuse to bat for a long time
