The Q series is hands down my favorite camera of all time and I’ve been fortunate enough to have shot most well known cameras and it’s all because of that magnificent lens ! Haven’t got the Q3 yet but own it’s two predecessors. The original Q has the added advantage of using inexpensive batteries unlike the Q2 and Q3.
True, the batteries are cheaper but the new ones lasts way longer and you won't need more than two for a full day of shooting. On the og Q I had to bring 5 or so just in case. 😆
…yup, Q3 feature upgrade was my trigger pull coming from Canon and then Lumix systems. I think it’s the best model they make and a great gateway entry point. Tilt screen and HiRez with a prime lens was key given experience with my S1R. I’ve shot editorial model and skateboarding events with this camera. It’s very capable!
your videos are great... I've owned a Q3 for a couple of months and am delighted with it... I had difficulty swapping batteries because the camera did not recognize the battery on initial install, but the latest firmware update fixed that bug... I have a comprehensive Nikon 810 kit, but I wasn't using it because of its mass; the Q3 goes everywhere with me... I agree that the IQ is amazing and better than any other camera I've used... committing to a 28mm prime takes getting used to... there are shots that I cannot make sometimes, but the crop factor often allows me to get the job done... this to me is a camera for close up work and the macro really does the job when you want to get really close... I own the expensive Leica half case and it gets fatiqueing pulling it off the get the SD card out... thanks again... from North Carolina, USA...

I am not a fan of the Leica halfcases, the Oberwerth ones are way better designed and also deliver better quality. 👍🏻
Hi Robin, good to see you again. I also do love my Q3. For me it just could ba little bit faster. With the grip and the thumb rest it feels like glued to my hand. I would have loved to hear about which locations you chose in Hongkongto get the neon signs. Your foto examples from the country side were also amazing. Hope to meet again, maybe on one of your workshops... yours Dirk

I love my Q3! It became my favorite camera. 28mm is a size you need to get comfi with but I love it now and I can do so much with it. I sold my Nikon D810 because of the weight and only kept my D750 to use with all the glass I own. Maybe I'l add a D850 as another workhorse.
I had a question about presets, I love this camera and use luminar neo for editing but cannot find any presets for the q3 - any thoughts on this?

I had the Q3 about 6-7 months and was lucky to be one of the first owners. But as you mentioned in your first video the software issues were just very annoying specially after paying 6000€.
Leica wasn't able to fix this with an hotfix and it took 3-4 month until I able to not experience a freeze on my Q3. That made feel like a beta tester for a luxery product and since I was looking towards other cameras I sold it, although I liked the format and performance as you mentioned in this video.
That being said looks like the Q3 got stable software now and if I get a good deal on an used one I might get one again.
Do you use burst shooting on the Q3 regulary and what is your experience on it or do you prefer single shot mode?

Too bad you had a bad experience with the Q3. I am glad that they keep improving the camera over time but it should have been free of issues right from get go.
Hi Robin, You are an inspiration to me like Bruce Gilden or italian photographer Salvatore Matarazzo. I learned a lot from your videos. I bought a second hand Q3 in december and I absolutely loved this camera first of all because of the sensor and the leaf shutter. Unfortunately I wasn't good enough to use the 28 mm and I don't like to crop. I have to admit that my ideal focal lenght is 35 mm. So I decided to sell the camera. It's a pity that Sony has never relased a RX1R III, but the Q3, in good hands, is an excellent tool
Thank you so much! 🙏 I wouldn't be surprised if Sony decides to bring out a successor at some point because fixed lens cameras are very popular right now.

Hi. What are your thoughts on the thumb rest on the Leica Q3? I had gotten few half cases with grip but it added too much weight so I’ve stopped using them and prefer Q3 as is. Have mixed feelings on the thumb rest- your opinion?
Hi, the original thumb rest on the Q3 is super 👍👍👍. It's so comfortable!
A question: how to stop (permentaly) the swiping to video mode? I need constantly to go back to photo-mode as I accidentally swipe.
That was one of the things I've mentioned in the last video. Unfortunately, there isn't a fix for it. Fingers crossed Leica is doing something about it asap. 🙏
Just try working your way through the dumb UI of a Sony camera. You’ll miss Leica right quick.

I have and love the Q3. But that lens hood you use for it ruins its appearance. It looks horrendous.
Don't you think that is up to personal taste?
