Jason’s descent into bitterness toward film is truly a favorite of mine; truly a masterpiece.
Descent
@@funkmonthank you.
It's an interesting story arc, and I'm rooting for him to find his joy again. Maybe next season?
Long Live Jason 92"
Maybe when they bring aerochrome back@@amosk24
Great video but I don't understand why Jason never explained what the '92 stood for
90s vibes
Lomography was founded in 1992
Just the humor, The editing, voice over, and style of these videos makes this some of my favorite stuff on CZcams to watch.
Why is Jason filming this from a gulag and not his office?
he is counter-revolutionary :(
Imprisoned by the Soviets for bringing foreign made camera lenses 😅
Squarespace found out about the new sponsor and retaliated.
@@joeldipu6754he must of brought some photos of america, and they were having none of it.
@@benferris2764did you write of instead of have?
Lomo 92 makes me nostalgic for eating sandwiches after swimming all day during the summer as a kid.
I can definitely see that.
Nico of Nico's photo news proposed the idea that Lomochrome emulsions (purple, metropolis, and turquoise) are all produced in Germany by Inoviscoat, since they're the only factory in Germany that has the ability to produce color and somewhere those films are listed as "made in Germany"
This would explain why '92 looks like Orwo's Wolfen NC400, since Orwo's films are also produced by Inoviscoat.
Plus NC500 is said to be Metropolis and also that new "vintage tone" Ilford color film
@@AnthonySchnitzel I'd be surprised that NC500 and Metropolis are the same emulsion. They look similar but not that similar.
@@elleoat The fact remians, that there are very few film manufcaturers in the western world, and even fewer that can produce a colour film. You can safely forget Japan for good. Neither Lomo. nor for that matter Adox manufacture films. Just look at the ' not in stock ' list of their films. Once the master rolls, from whomever have finished so does their ' production ' of film. This just leaves two or three candidates, Kodak/Alaris The Greed Marsters notwithstanding. In anycase, this emulsion wil appeal for a time, to the usual young You Tubers, until their viewers and the themselves get tired of the grain, the cool tones and the price of this novelty film. I'd rather spend my money on something else. Others may have other opinions.
It looks a lot like ORWO Wolfen NC500, which is based on AGFA XT 320 emulsion.
Lomograhy's Lomochrome film supplier is InovisCoat and NC500 is manufactured by InovisCoat - it might be the same film.
I shot a roll of NC500 and it came out great.
I think NC500 was the newer 2021 version of Metropolis, but this is a bit different i mean. I mean Lomography could not have released metropolis again right? But these 3 do look alike not gonna lie.
Alright, take it easy
Based on what I see, 92 is definitely not NC500. I didn't like NC500 as it rendered purples and magentas as brown and blues as bluish gray for me.
The blueish hue and grain leads me to believe Orwo Wolfen NC400, NC500 is a bit more warm. Wolfen doesn’t have a huge market in the U.S. for color films so maybe white-labeling for Lomo makes more sense. Also, just checked and B&H has a really big discount on Orwo Wolfen NC400…
Yeah, I love the look of these films. Coincidentally, I just bought 5 rolls of Wolfen NC400 yesterday on B&H, couldn't pass up the discount.
mad respect for the Stardew Valley harvest sound at 10:10
Thank you I thought I recognized that sound and it was bothering me
I love that it will come to 110. On 110 it will be grain city, and I love using 110 to exploit the creative potential of grain. Although I have to admit that while I love Metropolis and Orca, I also love the change of shooting Peacock and developing in E6 for finer grain and saturated colors.
Lomography makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes when dealing with their out-of-stock periods, but I adore the way they make films that artists can care about. And I adore their dedication to 110. I just hope Kodak eventually returns to making 110 again. I used to love Kodak Verichrome 110. I also loved Kodachrome in 110, but I guess that one is never coming back, sadly.
Lomography was founded in ‘92.
But film photography wasn’t around then?
photography was invented in 2014
@@Shrek_Has_Covid19I thought Instagram invented photography?
@@DeeB1345 nah, 2014 invented it
@@xander1052 Hell of a guy. Three cheers for 2014!
So great to see a new color film and it looks fantastic
I think a warming filter would go well with this film.
agree
Why is it called lomo 92
Boy you can really feel the Edward Hopper in these... awesome stuff as always, excited to try Lomo '92 myself!
I stuck my head into the Lomo HQ when I was in Vienna recently and it sounds like the film is being made in a factory in Germany. Can't say much more than that but there u go. Looking forward to shooting this in 110!
A roll of this turned up yesterday so I'm going to give it a whirl. Stumbled across your channel because of that, and I'm enjoying the "dry" delivery of your opinions 😂
I look forward to some new grainy days content, and good stuff to shoot. Glad to see you showing some Nikon F2 love!
i must admit i saw the news to 92 on Reddit and thought how funny the people are ofer there , But after seeing these example picutres of you Jason i Definitly get my hand on some rolls , thanks for your work and your amazing pictures
Definitely a 'cool blue' vibe going on with Lomo '92.👍
It's ORWO Wolfen NC400 film😊 Lomography and orwo have been working close together bringing back a color film. Lomo Metropolis is just failed color film production from orwo 😋 any it's ORWO NC400 which is a nice start from orwo bringing back color film.
Do you know why does it have '92 in the name?
Not sure I’d use it but new film stocks are always welcome!
Blue and grainy, just like my special places
I miss the Farmer's Market at The Grove. I didn't go there too often when I lived in LA but having to move away suddenly made me get all the feels going when watching this video. Ordered a couple rolls of this film - excited to try it out on my QL17 G-III.
I appreciate how cool the film is, especially since Fuji just killed the steadfast Superia 400... It's not what I'm looking for, but real fun looking, I'll admit.
Best thing you ever did was showing the differences and setting in NLP. Fillm stocks can look so different when reviewed based on those
this is a truly uninspiring video. love it, keep em coming
New sponsor that’s not SquareSpace or The Darkroom?? Whhhhhaaat, our boy is moving uuuuup!
Hey @grainydays why do they call it Lomo 92’
I am pumped to see both of you trying street photo!
Hey thanks Jason. Just in time for my layover today
At the risk of inducing more film stock reviews that you don't want to do, WELL DONE! Lots of meaningful insights to be had here. Your destination was intriguing as well, I'll have to go there sometime. Those signs for the pastrami and corned beef are hooking me into a sandwich craving, and I am already having dinner. Some nice images to be sure.
You two look like you had plenty of fun just chilling with food and film. Great post as always.
92 is the year that lomo came out I believe. You rock Jason...have a Mountain Dew on me lol
Hey, why is it 92?
I miss The Grove farmers market, Marconda's has excellent Italian sausage! Great video as always :)
Literally went on youtube to search for this film's reviews and you were on my recommended!
This film stock slaps, you make me wanna try it asap
Always a good every other Thursday of dry humor and slight disdain for a art form we love
i kinda really liked the auto warm, but then again i def lean on the warmer side of photos
They should've call it Lomo Retro '62 because these pictures look like they were taken in the 1960's. Which is not a bad thing.
Got the chance to try it myself and I really liked it ! Loved how the reds come out !
I would get a Lomography tattoo for 8x10 92.
I've been waiting for this particular review!😂🍿
Theres a lot of emotion of Jason’s face almost like he enjoyed making this video
This would probably do wonders for showing the bitter reality of the Canadian winters.
Another great video. Cheers!
This stuff is just rebadge orwo 400 which is old Agfa that was produced in the 90’s. Both Polaroid and Konica also sold this film rebadged and it had that same look, even back then
A quick lunch and a prostate exam. That farmers market really has it all.
LOL!
Color films are stacked Blue Green Red. If it was another order you wouldn’t get accurate colors like with Red Scale. Blue halation is super rare and only happens with certain light sources. It’s most likely just the lens.
tbh i really what I've seen from this stock. It's like instant nostalgia for me
like the cold colors 🥶
*Why is it called ‘92* ?
My tip on how to never open the back of a camera on film ?
If a camera is empty I flip the rewind lever up, even on camera with a film window
" _Today I'm shooting my Nikon f2 Titan adapted to a Leica Sl lens with a Nikon F to Minolta MD to a Leica SL back to a Nikon F mount adapter because I'm goofy like that_ " - Jason 2023
Excellent vid :)
Back to 4:3, praise Aerochrome
The look on the videos is so great! Is there a lut? :)
Yess!
Oh my god you have all the correct La Croix opinions!!!
As Jason gets older and more bitter, his speech is taking on a Christopher Walken-like cadence.
We need more cowbell. ;-)
it looks a bit like Orwo Nc500 (maybe NC400?), and Lomo has already repackaged other Orwo film stocks in the past, so it doesn't seem too far-fetched.
Looks completely different!
Looks like NC400, which is a good thing.
Babe wake up new grainydays video just dropped
Jason what is your review of using the Leica R 35-70 on the F2? Worth the conversion? I've been shooting it on my digital Nikon Z and it's probably my favorite lens
Looks very similar to remjet removed 200t 5213 which others were sold as 320T
Can't wait for the grain on the 110 film
I dig it🌸✨
your favourite photo at 10:22 has some real Chungking Express vibes
Hi. Amazing video as always. How do you make that zoom effect that you always have at the end of your videos?
“Hay-lation” 😂😂😂
Chug a flamin hot mountain dew why is it named Lomo 92?
Where do you get your endless supply of Flamin Hot Mountain Dew? I love that shit
I knew this video was on the way.
Looks like a film I will stray away from, not fitting my fancy not just from what you captured but from what I saw elsewhere as well.
Seems darker than usual, I wonder if Jason got the email that FPP is down to the very last of the Retrochrome before he shot this?
But wait Jason, why is it called '92? *Chug Chug Chug Chug*
I wonder if I can find this film stock at my local thrift store for $5
First of all, love all your videos, thanks for sharing your talent and humour with us. I'm sure you answered this question about 100 times but I can't seem to find it, what LUT are you using for your videos, love the look!
Is this the first time we’ve seen Caleb not eating barbecue? I didn’t know he could consume anything not bathed in smoke for at least 9 hours
I always knew Jason was a baseball fan
Love the video! Just one question tho: WHY IS IT CALLED LOMO 92?
It’s the year that Lomography was established. This is the film that they released to celebrate their 30th anniversary.
Great a new film! With Grainydays pictures in post stamp size on my iPhone 13 mini. Also why is it called ‘92?
Did you have any of the photos printed to 8x10 and was there still a lot of grain ?
ANOTHER 4:3 VIDEO YESSSSSSS
there are some ture edward hopper shots in between!
The new film stock from Lomo: Tripping on Toad venom!
Looks like it has some significant grain. At least in a couple of shots.
would that be rebranding 200T? And using 400 as under exposed in creating that amount of noise?
Great video. One question though, why is it called Lomo 92?
🔥
i can relate to the all seeing eyes when i walk downton denver everyone stares at you like you're into some sletchy sh!t 👀
why is it called lomo 92?
what makes you decide to shoot square video sometimes vs 16:9 or 18:9? just curious. good video btw mate
Video aspect ratio = aspect ratio of the pictures
@@TheChosenOne_ that’s what i figured cause the xpan videos are the 18:9 i think. thanks!
Not me rewatching this after I bought a roll of Color 92' a few months later and couldn't remember what it looked like
I think I just found a new favorite stock for myself !
Casually dropping some wildwood pics I see
92 is probably the $ price for consumers after general release.
Not a big fan of this film from what ive seen so far. But speaking of lomo, how is the "regular" lomo 400 film? Havent tried it but not a lot of people speak of it, only lomo800 but 400 seem to be good too or am i wrong?
It gives me kind of Kodak Vision3 200T vibes. Would be interesting to see the results of this stock shot with a 85 Color Conversion filter.
Yo @grainydays since you talk to these companies all the time do you have any inside information as to why it's called lomo '92?
