    OMG I have the same camper and I want to do the same as you. Thanks so much for making this video. You are the man!

    This video is perfect. This is exactly what I’ve been looking into dinettes in RVs are just kind of lame and outdated.

    Thanks for this video. Now I know there is hope for removing and still enjoying the space on a dinette I don't need/want.

    We pulled our dinette and that uncomfortable couch as soon as possible to make room for a small dining table along with 2 freestanding rocker/recliners. Best chance we could have made!

    I have an old rv and I'm currently turning the dinette into a huge sofa/ guest bed. It's just in the perfect spot I cannot pass it up

    The amazon sofa looks more comfortable! We bought chairs from RecPro (faux leather) and they're SO uncomfortable :(

    That is an Awesome Idea. I think will be exploring this option instead of the dinette and table set.

    We have the same slide configuration on our current trailer. I hate the dinette. It's the most uncomfortable setup in all aspects I think we've ever had. The cushions are garbage. Your video was great for showing the possibilities. I think we are going to move forward for tearing ours out. I just need to make sure there isn't a huge hole in the slide wall as our dinette has power and USBs in it.

    The only questions I have are on the weight? I’m stationary. Then I saw you move the leg of the table. How’d you do that?

    that looks great. what is the demension of the table in front of the dinette. Also how wide is the sofa.

    Looks great - I hope you're still reading the comments as I have a question. We want to change from a dinette to a jackknife sofa. The slide out for the dinette is deeper than it would be for a sofa - is there enough room to attach a table pedestal base on the slide or should the sofa be moved forward and the base be screwed into the main floor area?

    • @coffeeandsunscreen8268
      @coffeeandsunscreen8268  Před rokem +1

      We also put a jackknife sofa in and there was indeed enough room to attach the pedestal base on the slide right in front of the sofa.
      I don't believe you could attach it to the main floor without interfering with the slide.

    Your slide space is 85"w, just curious that is what I will be working with, also is the sofa open on the back (lower)?

    I'm running on the margin for my axles, do you know what the additional weight for this mod added?

    • @coffeeandsunscreen8268
      @coffeeandsunscreen8268  Před rokem +1

      Minimal, if any. I didn't exactly weigh anything I pulled out, but I'd guess its about a wash. Each weighed maybe 80-100 lbs. or so. The sofa was made for RV's so it was pretty light.

    A much better aesthetic with function; I wouldn’t keep the dinette material. Why keep it around?

  • @kencratsenberg2937

    Question when installing the couch sleeper are the instructions fairly clear and is the process painless, is the couch screwed to the floor board of your slide? Im thinking about replacing my dinette with couch sofa jacknife like yours?

    • @coffeeandsunscreen8268
      @coffeeandsunscreen8268  Před 2 lety

      So yes and no. The single sheet of paper I held up in the video at 4:27 is literally the only instructions that are supplied. There really isn't much to it. I have to give props to RecPro for their simple assembly. However, the pieces are big, the metal frame is heavy and awkward, and the bolts are not exactly in the most easily-accessible locations. If you're somewhat handy and have a good helper, I suspect most folks won't have too much trouble.
      And no, I did not screw the sofa to my slide. It's more than heavy enough to stay in place on the carpet, solid floors may be different. We've done 20 or so trips and its never moved an inch.

    I’m looking to replace the Dinet with a computer desk. I assume it’s possible to take out the circular pieces on the bottom as well?

    • @coffeeandsunscreen8268
      @coffeeandsunscreen8268  Před rokem +1

      Yes. If you are not using the dining table, there is no reason to keep the table mounts. There are six screws in each.

    Um....but you gave up dining for six to have seating for two? Where do you eat?

    • @coffeeandsunscreen8268
      @coffeeandsunscreen8268  Před 2 lety +2

      Oh we never eat meals inside. Picnic table or folding table outside for us! The little table I built to go in front of the sofa is perfect for the kids to snack at, but we really just wanted a more comfortable place to sit once in a while. We also wanted to reclaim some of the space taken up by the enormous dinette.

      eat on the couch with tv tables or a tray; works great. easier to wipe a tray than a whole table.
