Thank you @imtryinghere1 , that's so kind😊. I'll try my best, this whole "going public" thing is a an adventure but I hope it can help me make more impact. Appreciate the feedback very much,

Thanks Eleanor and David. I've had you both in my Twitter Aging list a quite a while. David is prolific there, to state the obvious. Nice to understand his background and perspective.

That's really cool Peter. The amazing community inspires and energizes me. I post publications by topic and as a service compile it there. It's great to have wonderful science communicators like Eleanor help translate that.
As they say "it takes a villiage"!
Agingdoc (or should I say, now that I've gone public... "David" 😄)

Nope I'm 49 Nick! The inspiration of my journey was on my 49th birthday saying to myself, hey you only live once... carpe diem! The funny thing in life is we never have direct feedback how we are doing relative to the person we could have been since we don't live our lives in a randomized controlled trial with a twin. Hopefully with better aging biomarkers including methylation clocks we can do a better job with personalized medicine ascertaining which interventions do and don't work well in a given individual. It's really the holy grail in longevity medicine and we're making progress (on the day of my release I interviewed Morgan Levine, these are exciting times).
Causality is tricky. I'm slim, avoid processed diet, am physiclaly active itself, but my readouts of health are imprecise. Hopefully though there are bound to be mistakes along the way, following the best evidence if nothing else gives us the best shot for healthy longevity. Everyone in my family is mentally sharp until the very end. Hopefully my body will hold up as well in the decades to come! Kind regards, Agingdoc.

It was a little different for me sharing my academic life story and how I got to how I was. I hope it was interesting for you and gives a little feel for my nerdy, quirck, playful sort of personality. Your comment gives me encouragement it did some good.
I've been anonymous so long I thought sharing who I was more formally with Eleanor would be the responsible thing to do. I had a lot of fun meeting one of my science communicator heroes and reminiscing.
Of course the most exciting part of all our stories is what are we going to be doing NEXT? 😂
I don't know the answer yet but I'm sure going to have fun going for impact moonshots over the second half of my life.
      Best wishes from Agingdoc👨‍⚕ ("David")

Without sounding offensive I'm searching for the benefit of this apparent biography and how it relates to the anti aging content that I'm interested in but good luck and I wish you well 🖐️

Strange person I followed him and enjoyed his post and then I shared one of his posts/tweets and then I found I was blocked right afterwards. To this day I dont get it. I didnt even say anything to him except for once when someone posted they didnt believe his credentials he posted and said I used him as a curating account. /shrug. Anyhow so now I have to find it the old fashioned way.... I figured he didnt want me reading his reposts because I didnt list my credentials on the internet of doom. (whatever)

Sorry to hear about your experience Pixel. I'm not sure what happened. I encourage diverse opinions and critical thinking, it's really what the forum is about. When I do block individuals, it usually falls in the category of holding the needs of the community first including creating a positive environment for everyone (ie, critical thinkers debating, but doing so respectfully, not focusing/attacking individuals but instead discussing ideas based on evidence, values, etc.).
I also have a low threshold for self-promotion, things like selling things, directing others to their own producsts/services. It's never personal, just trying to strike the right balance. I do try my best in the curation process, keeping it as consistent as fair as possible, but it's not perfect.
What is your Twitter handle? Despite having a higher "honor code" of being respectful to others and not advertizing/hype etc, to this day I've only blocked on average serveral people a year. Though it's rare I go back on a block (which makes for a strong deterrent for inapporpriate behavior by others) I'll investigate with the info you give me. Thanks for your understanding, and always appreciate the feedback from everyone. Helps keep things in balance and fair for everyone.

@@agingdoc I'm not a mean person quite the opposite. I figured you simply didnt want me reading your posts because I had not posted my credentials. In reality i'm retired from the field actually so always hold an interest. I had reposted something about LDL cholesterol you had tweeted/posted and suddenly found myself blocked (I thought it was interesting). Anyhow its @urbanlamb. Its possible you simpy dont like the tone of my reposts I dont know, but I just found it odd. At the same time Dr. Brenner thought you were just pretending and I piped up and said I didnt think of your account as a 'person' per say, but rather an acct that currated articles. Anyhow i got blocked, but not Brenner so it wasn't that. So I figured it was my credentials or lack of them. I dont believe most posted credentials so why would I post mine? /shrug (edit: anyhow i will watch your channel from time-to-time, but I wont subscribe and certainly not retweet/post your podcasts since it seemed clear to me you didnt want me engaging which is fine although i have only spoken up once on your feed and reposted maybe two of your posts at the most) .

Thanks for the reply @@Pixel-junkies I love diverse opinions, folks follow me from ethical vegans to carnivores and both traditional and functional providers, low fat/high fat you name it. Not sure what happened in your case. A few rules (a) Comments should focus on evidence/data/logic not simply "gut feeling" reactions without rationale (b) they contribute to the discussion (c) they not focus on individuals (ad hominems and speculations on person's motivations and character are not appropriate) (d) they be focused on content rather than simply friendly banter or "me too" etc. (e) they not dominate the discussion ie temperate volume (e) respect for others including and especially those with different views, including courteous exchange (f) no self-promotion / advertisement. Those are the general guidelines off the top of my head. The forum is not a place for "personality/character" type controvesy but critical appraisal of the work is also indicated. For example, you may in detail critique a study whether or not a positive finding may be an artifact from the experiment, but it is not appropriate here to go into what you believe the character or motivations of the author are. There is a place for all debates/discussion, but by keeping the scope as it is, I've with great effort and many uncompensated hours on my part curated a community and culture of diverse individuals collaborating together with healthy respectful debate towards mutual insight, progress, better science, and ultimately I hope better outocmes for patients.
It's definitely stricter than the free-for-all on the internet, but it creates a safe haven from hype and nonsense and unhelpful and inflammatory responses that proliferate elsewhere.
Blocking is never personal, it's holding the community values and culture/atmosphere first. I suggest keeping your comment brief, respectful, thoughtful, relavent to the research, focusd not on persons but on the data and your interpretation of it and why, and shedding new insight to the prior discussion. When it does all these in a way that does not self-promote, advertise or focus, you're golden. It's rare I have to block someone, most of my followers follow these rules naturally and follow me because they want that kind of culture too
Hope that helps demistify it for you a bit. Not a prefect process but I try my best!
