    I was on the fence with brand of sweeper but, based on your video…I’ll put the extra money down to get the John Deere. Thank you sir.

    Agri Fab makes John Deere lawn sweeper. Agri Fab p/n 45-0492
    JD p/n 45-0492 JD.
    People are spending more for the JD green paint. They are identical.

    I have the agrifab and find it to be identical with your John Deer but for the basket connect point you mentioned. Mine never jumps out, but even if it did,a slight modification could solve that.
    So with the price difference I think I won. Thanks for the review.

      @Dr.reason i wish i would have made a video of the agrifab when i had it to show how it comes apart when i hit a hole or a dip but i think if you try the john deer you will find that its a better buy its a lot smoother bigger wheels bigger bag and it do not come apart so easy

    I've had one Agri Fab since 1990 and the tow behind since 2005. Both still work like new. My neighbor's JD probably cost him thousands. Yours is a bit wider and has a bigger bag than mine. However, mine compacts for storage as soon as you fold the bag over, it takes two seconds to adjust the height without clevis pins and uses a rope to dump. The rope may be a good idea for yours. My biggest concern I had was the sweepers wearing out when I got them. They're still there like day one. Will say after all these years there's a little painting that needs done. Nothing major though.

      the agri fab that i bought kept coming lose when the grass had a littel dip and yes the rope might be a better idea for the dump thanks for the advice

      The John Deer sweeper doesn't cost "thousands"... It's $500 bucks for the 44 inch.

      JD looks exactly like the 44" Agri-Fab I just bought except it's green.

    Spend the cash and just get a Trac Vac. We did. In 1977. Runs like a beast every season.

    yes you have the handle on upside down.I have one just like yours and here's the problem with it. The tires are to smooth so I put 5/16 by 3/4 long hex head screws into the tires about an inch apart, starting in the middle then one on the right then one on the left all the way around and that works very well now. The next problem is the brushes are at least a couple inches to short so you have to keep the height adjustment all the way down to get it to sweep the grass and with the adjustment down the metal lower front end of the sweeper gouges the yard if it's not perfectly flat.

    • @PainterD54
      @PainterD54 Před 4 měsíci

      If you can't adjust the brush height low enough, you have the hitch pole on wrong or the hitch is too high. I had to modify my hitch because mine was too low. I just unbolted the two plates on the front of the draw bar and turned them so I could get rid of the spacer and have a tighter fit with the hitch pin.

      Came to say this too about the handle.

    On the JD 44 sweeper mines doesn't track in line with my lawn tractor. After seeing this video I'm going to have to checkout my black hitch bar to see why it's not swiveling and tracking in line with the mower.
    I would recommend that if you don't have a larger yard not to purchase a bigger unit. There's some that are up to 60 inches wide but, please keep in mind what your particular needs are based on obstacles like trees plants shrubs etc.

    Ive been using the bagger attachment i bought for my john deere mower for leaves but it fills up very quickly and it doesnt get all the smaller stuff and sometimes it blows the leaves away from under the deck. Thinking about getting this bagger attachment to give it a try.

    Great video. Fall is coming and I'm looking for a better way to get the leaves up!

  • @PainterD54
    @PainterD54 Před 4 měsíci +1

    I'd just add a short piece of conduit to your handle to make it long enough to reach. I see people having problems with the wheels sliding which tell me the brushes are to low and digging into the lawn. They should only be brushing the top of the grass which is all that's needed to pickup leaves and piles of grass.

    I saw another one of your videos where you had a mounted bagger. Between that and one of these, which would you recommend if using solely for grass clippings? Thanks!

    Thanks for this demonstration, I’ve been wanting one. Does the lawn have to be absolutely dry, or can there be a little dampness present? I live in a fairly damp part of central New York State.

    • @fixingitwithmorris4942
      @fixingitwithmorris4942  Před 2 měsíci

      ive only picked up the leaves when they were dry not sure how it will work if they were damp, let me know how it works out for you

  • @jjjohn5914
    @jjjohn5914 Před rokem +1

    Mine works well too.
    My only beef is that the wheels lock up on turns since there's no slip ability to account for the inner and outer wheels moving at different speeds and the outer wheel skids along grass which tears it up. I try longer radius turns but its not always feasible. Wish it was designed properly for turns.

    2:45 Could those bars be upside down ? Seems it would make more sense if the open groove faced up. May have to swap sides....

    Helpful video, thanks! Where do you get the plates to hold the swivel nuts in place for the dumping action? Ours didn't come with them and the bag assembly falls out/won't stay in at all. Can't use it this way. Thanks for your time.
