A renovation without second thoughts, reworking mistakes or completely messing up just isn’t a real renovation! Demolition is frustrating but you’re going to need intestinal fortitude now that it’s going back together. Remember, if you’ve ever taken on a project like this I guarantee you’ve been in tears at least once before you finished. It’s okay, we’re with you all the way! Give Nick our thanks for the excellent help, what a great friend.❤️
Nothing always goes to plans. There are always unexpected issues that pop up. Haven’t done anything to this extent, but enough. Just hanging wallpaper makes you fight with your spouse no matter how much you love them.
Painting the outside would not be on my priority list. Making the home liveable is the priority in my opinion. Great catch on the joist issue. Hats off to Nick! Carry on chaps.
I would agree with leaving all painting until the building work is finished. I am speaking from experience here and on my third house renovation, but sometimes I think a paint job here and there can help lift the spirits when things are difficult. In my last house I wished I had plastered and painted the walls in the entrance hall much earlier than I did as there was no avoiding this space, I was looking at it every time I went to another room. When I eventually got it completed the transformation was unbelievable, the whole house felt different. It was the same when I painted the exterior walls, I hated looking at the house when walking up the street as it looked so bad. Afterwards it ended up looking better than the neighbours houses - with just some masonry filler and a few coats of white paint. 😂
Nick can rebuild an antique organ or an antique house. Ryan, you have a great teacher + I love both of your goofy senses of humor. You make work fun, and it’s fun for us to watch as well.
Projects like this show that anything is possible. It’s sad in a way that the original space can’t be perfectly preserved. But c. 200 year old dirt and rotting beams just don’t cut it today…or any day, really. Not to mention those small rooms meant for warmth and insulation(?). The bigger, more spacious the rooms the better. And if they had our technology then, they’d have it the same way. Though, that’s not accounting for big families. And I’m learning so much about beam…ing. And that trial and error is just parts of the experience. And, you know, the friends you make along the way. Also. I just sort of realized in this video that Ryan resembles Ben Affleck quite a bit, if we’re going to be honest. I can’t be the first to see this.
So glad Nick spotted the mistake on the joists. Loved the commercial, very unique. The best thing was when You kept saying to Nick and the audience that “ I’m learning, I’m learning”😂👍
You need more help Ryan. It's going to take so long. As for the person saying paint the outside, yes it needs but They have no time. Keep going you two you are great.
Well it’s just like Dan from escape to rural France when he started off he was solo albeit he had more skills . Learning as you go is excellent and you will get faster as you go .
Ryan, I absolutely loved the Sponsor Ad with Billy sneaking around in the background of the Convent. Your comedy is brilliant!! The TV on the wood pile was so good! Always double check your order either before you leave the shop or at delivery - doesn't matter what you buy or where it is from. Everyone is Human and the guy who brought the wood might have been having a really bad day. We don't know what anyone is going through and you handled the wood discrepancy beautifully! You and Nick were most likely goofing around and didn't check so it took all three of you to get that order wrong ROFL.
I don't like commercials but YOU, Ryan, made it all fun to watch Incogni! Thanks to them for sponsoring your channel! So glad Nick found the differences in measurements of the joist boards and re use the "error" boards for your attic floor! You can do this! Thank you Nick and Ryan for the humor over tea!
The Nick and Ryan comedy show - I love it! You guys are so, so funny together. I do miss getting to see the tea breaks and the comedy there! Also, at 16:30, Nick blinked his eyes and raised his eyebrows and made an absolutely perfect Stan Laurel face (ala Laurel and Hardy). 😆 I am so glad that Nick caught the discrepancy in the joist depth, and that there is a solution available by just using that size on a later floor. Bravo! Carry on my goodfellows, carry on. Much ❤️
You're brave to just get on with it. I'd be overwhelmed and frankly, intimidated by such a project. I'm looking forward to seeing how this house turns out, because I predict it'll be the gem of the town.
Nick is so clever! He is a true hero, and with that head covering reminds me of faery folk, so magickal craftsman! Pays to be aware of size, that's for sure. Have missed you both.x
Ryan, don't be dishearted, mistakes happen even when we are overly careful. You are so lucky to have Nick help you. Make sure you tell Nick Oskar looks just like him...Kathy USA 🇺🇸
That was a bummer about the size of the joists, who would have thought that 2 cm would cause all that? Not me for sure. Glad you spotted it and the change was easy enough too. Not wasted time but a learning curve. Have fun and a great day.
Happy Ryan that you have Nick helping you, it always looks like you both are having fun doing it. Congrats on doing a great job in your house Ryan. Hugs and best wishes from Australia . 😀🙏
The start reminds me of woodworking lessons at school 50+ years ago! We had to cut different types of joints with chisels - guided by our teacher Mr Tap!
No second thoughts here. Thank goodness for Nick, clever man. Not saying you arnt clever Ryan. You are very intertaining and keep up the cuppas. Awsume you all are.
Best sponsor spot ever. Incogni should be very happy. Fantastic job at the money pit too. I love old money pits. My home was built in 1880, with the original stone and granite foundation.
If you intend to make the loft space into a room. I would remove the door leading to the loft on the stairs. Same at the bottom of the stairs, exposing all that lovely old staircase.
The trials of renovations, Yes assumptions, as the first 3 letters say...some is. Anyway it is on to getting the right parts and carry on with the reno. Awesome job Nick and Ryan, keep up the great work
They are doing ok without them! Good skills for Ryan to learn from Nick, how to use hand tools properly. It takes skill and sometimes gives a better result!
Nick is a gem. But then so are you Ryan. You both bring so much to the table. It might have been a slower day, but that's OK. It's better that Nick caught the problem early, or it would have been much worse. It's coming along, so it was a good day! 🤗
Ryan,Nick my darlings. Good to see progress. You guys are the best. Thank you Nick for helping Ryan. Until next time. Please, take care and stay safe. Love ya 🍺🍺👍❤️🙏🌹🌈😇🇺🇸🕊🌞
I do hope that your next big purchase will be power tool kit with a circular saw. Save your hands and arms and time. Love your videos and will always follow along your reno.
Ryan and Nick can use both dimensions of lumber, the method employed to level the lower side... the "ceiling", if you may, can be achieved by fastening 1 inch strapping, perpendicularly to the joists. This will give you a method to hold sound insulation in the space, and it can offer perfect alignment of the plaster board.
As usual Mr Wonderful to the rescue. Sitting here with my cup of tea ☕️ and enjoyed the video. Looking forward to the next one. You two are best comedy team together. Put the kettle on 😆
I really enjoy watching your progress no matter how much progress you do or don't make! Life is like that. Move forward, go back and redo, move forward...repeat. Thanks for sharing your day.
Enjoyed your monitor-in-the-rubble angle, Ryan. Your 'stage timing' is excellent, and Nick's a good foil for you... You two are a very entertaining team. Great episode. Sorry you had an 'assumption' mishap. I love how much light is flooding into 'the void' space now...
Hey Ryan, first time viewer here. Love the fact that you’ve taken on this project. Tooling is half the job here and will speed up your process all around. I’ll be watching your journey as I’m actually looking at projects myself

interesting to do the commercial at the kitchen of a different family's project.
@@janmcclure6239a stroke of genius, as usual! That’s Ryan for you!
Loved your ad, made me watch the whole thing ❤ well done with the sponsorship 👍🏻
@@janmcclure6239 Love it! Guys are like brothers. No better place for it.
Signed up! Glad to support anyone supporting your channel. Seems like a good service.

Si vrai 😊

So true!
Nick has to be the nicest dude on the planet.
Nick’s not a carpenter, but knows a man who is… I Love It!!!
Painting the outside would not be on my priority list. Making the home liveable is the priority in my opinion. Great catch on the joist issue. Hats off to Nick! Carry on chaps.

Bless him, Nick must have the patience of a Saint! 👍🏻
Exactly
😂
😂💕
I love the TV intro showing Billy, Edd, & Nick. Very clever!
Thank you 😊🙏🏻
The amount of woodworking you have to do justifies the purchase of a table saw.
Ryan, A second stepladder wouldn’t be a luxury.
Aren't there rental shops in France, but that might be a luxury as well. In the US some neighbors rent out their tools or ladders. 😊
Get another ladder Ryan you are working too hard
Nick can rebuild an antique organ or an antique house. Ryan, you have a great teacher + I love both of your goofy senses of humor. You make work fun, and it’s fun for us to watch as well.
You two are the perfect pair....the humour, the learning by doing, all of it! Love it!
Great job, Ryan and Nick! It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon, and every setback just means more future episodes for us to enjoy 😊
Good solution! Thanks to Nick for overseeing Ryan’s build. Ryan you are very close to 80K subscribers, you have come a long way. 🙏❤️
You more, then deserve it. Sending you a big hug Ryan😊
The way you set up the ad for the sponsor was very unique and enjoyable
I agree. Ryan, you are very creative and entertaining!
Ryan you could do with investing in another decent ladder, save you straining to put the joists up 😊
Actually, some staging would be even more profitable , nevermind the fact that it would be safer

Ryan, so glad Nick was there with his eagle eye to catch the discrepancy in the joist size. This was fun as usual. I love you guys.
Cheers
it will be neither the last nor the worst problem to come, just carry on!
I love seeing you and Nick together. It looks like you have fun while you are working. The house is coming along.
It's called, "One step forward and two back." Laugh and life goes on.
So glad Nick spotted the mistake on the joists. Loved the commercial, very unique. The best thing was when You kept saying to Nick and the audience that “ I’m learning, I’m learning”😂👍
I absolutely LOVE watching you two❤❤ Never a dull moment when Ryan and Nick are together!!
Ryan you make me laugh and your editing is getting much better. The TV was genius.
You need more help Ryan. It's going to take so long. As for the person saying paint the outside, yes it needs but They have no time. Keep going you two you are great.
I don't think Ryan can afford more help, and he is not on a timeline so can take as long as he wants with the renovation.
Na these two have got this!
Well it’s just like Dan from escape to rural France when he started off he was solo albeit he had more skills . Learning as you go is excellent and you will get faster as you go .

A man who never made mistakes, never made anything.
Yea Ryan! Yea, Nick! Every ounce of progress is a step in the right direction! 💕🌷🐻

Nick is a great teacher. Thankfully the issue was caught and fixed.
No apologies needed......Great to see it all coming together...will soon have a floor...exciting times!
Thanks for fighting the tide of people who say "joistses."
Any time something goes wrong it’s a learning moment. Thank goodness you caught it before cementing them in.
Ryan the work must go on, you sound very happy. Nick is still helping wonderful, enjoy your day.
Still doing
Its noggin time😂😂😂
Dan and Nick would
Love that word!
Nick is a wonderful friend! So glad Nick noticed this mistake before it became a much bigger mistake to rectify! Onwards and upwards! 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I don’t know how you could do this without Nick!
It is Ryan, he would find a way!
The Nick and Ryan comedy show - I love it! You guys are so, so funny together. I do miss getting to see the tea breaks and the comedy there!

HAHAHAA Exactly! Stan Laurel's face expression! Nick and Ryan both have such beautiful eyes!
You and Nick are so funny together. Well spotted Nick with the joist❤
Mistakes always happen but it's how you respond is the important thing. Good going.
Ryan, tell the joist to look upon it as a promotion, it's done a small apprenticeship, it has now been fast-tracked to the top, the very top 😂Mark
You're brave to just get on with it. I'd be overwhelmed and frankly, intimidated by such a project. I'm looking forward to seeing how this house turns out, because I predict it'll be the gem of the town.
First time I've seen a sponsorship avert that I enjoyed and sat through. You guys make the most mundane jobs enjoyable to watch
Ryan, all part of renovation. Looking good, each video with more progress! Great!!
This is good for us viewers. There’ll be more video!! 😂😂😂
At this rate you'll have the joists done in that room by Christmas........lol.
So glad you realized the joists were different sizes!
Good catch on the measurement difference, Nick! That is a wonky angle on the window lintel, the new joist really shows it.
Love your sponsor's ad on the tv that mysteriously showed up at your house. Good job, Ryan.
All I can say is it’s very fortunate Nick is on this build.
I love watching you two working on the house together. It’s so much fun!
Come on Ryan, make us a cup of tea. It's like the Gobi desert in here 😅
That was a bummer about the size of the joists, who would have thought that 2 cm would cause all that? Not me for sure. Glad you spotted it and the change was easy enough too. Not wasted time but a learning curve. Have fun and a great day.
Ryan, you and Nick should have your own comedy show on the telly 🤣 Enjoy watching you both so much....CRACK ON!!!! Love from Virginia 💕
Love the TV 😂 good catch with the beam “width”, “length”, “height” issue ☺️
Happy Ryan that you have Nick helping you, it always looks like you both are having fun doing it. Congrats on doing a great job in your house Ryan. Hugs and best wishes from Australia . 😀🙏

You two simply, in American Slang, just crack me up!!!!!!!!!! I sooooooooooooooo enjoy your video's!
Best sponsor spot ever. Incogni should be very happy. Fantastic job at the money pit too. I love old money pits. My home was built in 1880, with the original stone and granite foundation.
Need a sign “Keep calm and past the tea “ 😊
If you intend to make the loft space into a room. I would remove the door leading to the loft on the stairs. Same at the bottom of the stairs, exposing all that lovely old staircase.
That staircase is beautiful
Yes the stairs would make a great feature on every level,
I am really starting to think there are two Nicks with all he is doing! Don’t worry Ryan it is all a learning thing.
The trials of renovations, Yes assumptions, as the first 3 letters say...some is. Anyway it is on to getting the right parts and carry on with the reno. Awesome job Nick and Ryan, keep up the great work
Can't wait to see that floor in place!
I think it makes you very lucky to have NICKS help. You two are fun to watch ❤❤❤❤
Cuppa tea anyone!
You could do with Investing in a few power tools.
They are doing ok without them! Good skills for Ryan to learn from Nick, how to use hand tools properly. It takes skill and sometimes gives a better result!
Thankfully the excellent Mr. Moon caught the problem before the problem joist was cemented in.
Nick is a gem. But then so are you Ryan. You both bring so much to the table. It might have been a slower day, but that's OK. It's better that Nick caught the problem early, or it would have been much worse. It's coming along, so it was a good day! 🤗
Really enjoy watching your renovations! Keeping a sense of humor and taking time for tea breaks is important 😊.
I don’t get how Nick manages to virtually be in two places at once! Don’t miss him on the Moons video casts too.
Great job on the ad! Change of scenes and clips of other affiliated channels was a nice Easter egg!
Ryan. I love it when your hair is charmingly askew. Wear it like that all the time!
Nicely spotted Nick but either way you would have worked out the problem with the joists. Nice one😘
Just a small detour; nothing to get upset with. Glad you could use the beam elsewhere. love you both
Ryan, you have great friend in Nick! You both work so well together and love the bantering between you both. ❤
Looking back and remembering you had to chisel out a little more stone to make them fit. That was your extra 2 centermeters.
As usual Mr Wonderful to the rescue. Sitting here with my cup of tea ☕️ and enjoyed the video. Looking forward to the next one. You two are best comedy team together. Put the kettle on 😆
Clever Nick, you’re lucky to have a friend like him. ❤
Rayn do you ever do anything or is Nick making this place for you.
Looking fwd to the video, but must say that the advert was really enjoyable. It must be Ryan's humor!
Wow you are very lucky to have Nick as your main man, is there anything he can do?
I think you meant to type..anything he can't do.
Great catch Nick!!!! Since you can still use it, it's not a waste. Thanks for sharing. God bless and protect.
Fair amount of progress. Well done Nick
No apologies the video was so enjoyable thanks
It's definitely difficult to maneuver old construction, I feel for you 😊
I really enjoy watching your progress no matter how much progress you do or don't make! Life is like that. Move forward, go back and redo, move forward...repeat. Thanks for sharing your day.
Cracking on with you. Waiting for the next video. 😊
Good Afternoon! Great video! the floor joists look Amazing. :)
I'm so SO glad you picked up the mistake before you went too far and had to rip up floors or consider shaving down that joist to match...
Great work nick and Ryan! Glad you caught the mistake!
This property is going to be stunning, y'all!
The Radom tv bit. Clever. You make me happy.
Good that you caught the size difference when you did. No serious harm done, so no foul.
Hey Ryan, first time viewer here. Love the fact that you’ve taken on this project.
Tooling is half the job here and will speed up your process all around.
I’ll be watching your journey as I’m actually looking at projects myself
