  • Sawyer Brown was on the road 6 nights a week, traveling across the country to play shows for music fans everywhere it seemed. But Nashville wasn’t ready to accept them quite yet. Mark Miller explains to Marty Smith why their rock ‘n roll country-style was too wild for Nashville in the early years, and who inspired him the most as an early artist.

Saw them in concert this past Saturday night. 90 minutes of awesome entertainment that puts today's country (and most other types of music) to shame.

Nearly 30 years ago we saw Sawyer Brown open a show for Brooks & Dunn and Reba. The one act I still remember from that night was Sawyer Brown. They stole the show and got the loudest ovation when they finished. Louder than the other two headliners.

Mark, we love you and the boys!! To me, one of the top Country groups of all time!! Saw you at the Warren, Pa County Fair when my son was 4. I lifted him up and my wife snapped a pic just as you reached out to slap his hand. That's all he talked about for years and he just turned 28 and is expecting his first child, a son. I'm certain that he will grow up knowing who Mark Miller and Sawyer Brown is!!

Sawer Brown has always been #1 in my eyes. I'm greatful you stood your ground , your image, because then you wouldn't be who you are today! Plus you believe in God and aren't ashamed to show it. Can't wait till you come to New Mexico again. It will be my 6th time seeing you in concert... God bless 🙏🏾 ❤

I remember them winning Star Search. Then got more into hard rock/heavy metal.
Fast forward to around 92 and my room mate had an extra ticket to see them up in Webster Ma. Outdoor concert and there was a raffle at the door. It was for a wheelbarrel full of booze. Mark came out and said he was asked to anounce the winning ticket number. So he did then they brought out the wheelbarrel and he was like holy crap that was the prize???? The whole band was looking at the guy that won they were going to be really good friends.
It was June/July and we were on a lake. He was like how do you swim in this water? It's freezing, I'm a Florida boy and this is like winter water down there.
The band stayed until the last person that wanted to meet them and take pictures was done.
    Really cool guy and band.

You guys made some great country music I grew up in the '90s that's my country music and I thought you guys were greatest things since Beach boys for what it is worth. What you guys want to put out more tunes like you did back in the '90s. Thank you guys for the music.

🤢 I hate country music, never heard of these guys until now. I saw Mark dancing on Hee Haw today and wondered if he was gay due to his white tassel boots and pinkish tassel jacket 🧥

@@SUGAR_XYLER Mark got married to a make up artist lady named Lisa on January 6, 1990 and from what I understand, her brother is the guy who gave the world Peter Brady of the Brady Bunch show. (smiles) God bless you and Mark and his family always!!! Holly in east Tennessee

I saw them in concert and was a cool show! I can’t recall the year it would’ve probably been 1993 or 94. Neal McCoy was the first opening act and the second opening act was this nobody you may or may not have ever heard of.....named 🤔 Toby Keith.......

And today's "Country" music is so BAD, you can't even listen to it anymore. It's just horrible, and about as "country" as Beastie Boys!! I've heard a few country songs I though were good, and I don't think they were even recorded in Nashville!!
