Good job! My '05 CDI just rolled over to 239K miles. I suspect after listening to sound your center bearing makes when it has travel play that mine is worn as well because I can hear similar sounds coming from that area when I drive over uneven pavement or bumps in the road at slow speed. I was attributing the sounds to sway bar bushings prior to watching this but now suspect center bearing.
I knew it I knew it and I knew it..... First take the all shaft out Change both flexible disks ....and central bearing....and don't forget to check the universal joint for detecting play in it... Great video tho
I have an 09 E350 Sport and the front flex disc is different from the one you installed in that three of the raised cylindrical through hole bushings come with what looks like spacers attached to them. There are six bushing holes on mine.The spacers seem to be fabricated on these raised bushing. I bought the wrong flex disc initially ( found this out when I compared the one I removed from the car and had to reinstall). The first flex disc I obtained was by Febi and the subsequent one was by Meyle which was the correct one. Part number 0004110100 and is a kit. Also built unto the front shaft is a rubber damper ( it seems) and is encased within a metal ring. The rubber was all cracked and this part is integral with the front shaft and so cannot be purchased separately. So this can easily be mistaken as the flex disc . Three of the bolts were longer to accommodate the spacers as well. So if you have an 09 E350 Sport be certain to get the kit I mentioned. In addition the diameter of the bolt hole circle with the Meyle is a bit larger than the Febi. Cheers
I used that same type of the 12,000 lb plastic ramp. bought them new from Home Depot. Rolled the car up the ramp, and went to lunch, came back and one of the ramps had collapsed. I was about 95F outside.
I thought your front one looked good until I saw the cracks in it once you popped it off. These things just need replacement because of age and mileage
Good video but…. Why do people think the prop is balanced to gearbox! If you don’t split the prop at the centre bearing then doesn’t matter how you connect it ! The prop is balanced as it’s own part not to the car 😅
Absolutely correct. However if you ever have any driveshaft work done, it's better to have the center bearing on the shaft when it's balanced at the shop.
@@deyoviC yeah it seems like it changes. The factory ones on my 2010 E350 coupe are SGF's with 203 part numbers strangely enough. I thought SGF was only OE for older chassis. I did see the Meyle's as more expensive than the Febi...2x's more in some cases
@@RothBeyondTheGrave True, they are. However I wanted to replace it with "the best" if you will. I heard good things about them and I didn't want to spare money on such part since it's not something that you often replace. The car had 1.8k km road trip to go so it was a much needed change.
@@deyoviC I hear that. I was dealing with like 5 or so different part numbers & had to dig to ensure proper fitment. Seems the Meyle is the better option for me also. Glad to hear yours are working out well

yea, should have waited and did that carrier bearing... it shouldn't move much at all, only a few thousands at best
Have the Febi Bilstein flex disks proven worthy and of good quality or should I look for another brand sir?

Will this cuase rattling at around 30 an up while driving ,but only iff i let off the gas it rattles iff i keep gas slightly tapped is quiet?
