This is the best guide I’ve watched so far, thanks mate
Hey thanks so much! 😄🎉
Excellent advice. I actually watched this several months before my summit attempt and the gaiters and rain gear saved my trek! Gaiters were a must. But so was the high quality rain gear.
Thanks so much for the great feedback! So glad to hear you had a good trek! 🎉
Great video. I leave in 2 days for my solo Rongai climb. I was planning on a full moon summit night, but the flights made me move it to 2 days later. I imagine it should still be fairly bright
I am actually from around that mountain and hopefully, before the end of next year, I'll go scale it. So I have been thru many videos but yours is very simple to unpack.
Thanks so much Malaika! Good luck with your climb. Pole pole!

Some great tips there. Thanks for making this video!
Hey thanks so much for watching!
I think that brand u love (Katmandu) is a low quality store brand only available in Oz.
We love anything that works in tough conditions. Kathmandu has cheap options and higher end options that have been designed for a purpose. We don't favour any brand, we just use what works and what's available to us. :)
Happy hiking!
October climbing
Great content here! Did you do training and fitness prep before going to this trip?
Thanks so much Mae! We did a little bit of specific mountain walking, but nothing too serious. It's honestly quite an easy mountain to climb. The main thing we did were long distance walks to make sure we were used to being on our feet for hours everyday. We also were a little concerned with how we would feel with altitude, so we did some sessions in an altitude chamber training centre. But I honestly think if you're hiking regularly already and you have a strong mental will, you will be fine! It's basically a trail walk until you get to summit attempt. Then it becomes difficult. :)
@@vaastexpeditions908 thank you for that! Appreciate it! Keep doing these videos. They are very helpful! Keep it up!
could you link to the Marmot rain jacket you showed. thank you.
It's the Marmot Knife Edge Jacket.

Hello, thanks for the video and for sharing your information. I'm planning my trip to Kilimanjaro in Aug 2022 and I need all the help I can get. A question did you just bring the one set of boots? and how did you keep your camera charged that whole 8 days? And if you give you my email could I get a list of all the items that your recommend
Thank you !
Hey Michael! Thanks so much for watching. Would absolutely love to help out, send an email through to us and I'll forward you all of the info we got from our guides! :) vaastexpeditions@gmail.com
Also check out the film we made of our climb, which had a bunch of info in it. :)
@@vaastexpeditions908 Hey, im doing the hike Sept/oct aswell. Can i ask, did Bec use a sheewee? 🤣 its on my guide list but im very unsure!!
@@sarahsander8967 Hey Sarah, sorry for the delayed response, CZcams hasn't been showing us the replies to comments!
Bec didn't use a shewee, although it may have helped in some areas! The toilets that are at some of the camps are an absolute experience! hahaha A shewee might make you more portable and able to avoid going in them. :)
Good luck on your summit!
