E90 BMW LCI LED Tail Light Conversion DIY

  • In this video I show you guys how to convert the rear end of your E90 BMW to look like the newer LCI model. I show you how to change out your tail lights and swap your trunk lid. We go into the wiring that needs to be modified and I show you how to code the car after to have no errors.
I also install an aftermarket spoiler to tie the look together.
This really modernizes the look of the car and in my opinion makes it look much better.
Now that LCI cars are getting older and are starting to get parted out you can do this conversion for a few hundred dollars if you play your cards right.
We are using the INPA software suite to code the LCI Tail Lights to the car, specifically NCS Expert.
Link to a thread showing how to setup INPA/NCS Expert:
    www.e90post.com/forums/showthr...
If you have Windows 10 64-Bit:
    www.e90post.com/forums/showthr...
You can find the INPA cable online at places such as Amazon or Ebay. Search INPA Cable K+D Can.

If you could answer my question would be great. Why do you have to use NETTODAT, isn't the nettodat just the values not translated to text? The way I understand it since you already modified your FRM settings when you read your trace (FSWPSW) gets overwritten with you current settings. Then you manipulate it and save as man and write the man file your previous changes don't get lost unless you code a blank file then it reverts to your vehicle order preferences.

Did you end up with a cruise control issue after swapping in the LED lights? I heard that the cruise control system is deactivated if the brake lights come on (based upon a change in current or something) and after swapping the lights to LEDs the current is changed such that it keeps you from engaging cruise control...

Easier way to code would be to modify your vehicle order to add the LED tails, then code blank man files to the new vehicle order. That way if there is some oddball german setting that we aren't aware needs to be changed for the retrofit it will automatically be done with NCS.

    Question though..
I was under the impression that the LCI tail lights also require an FRM II along with wiring that needs to be ran all the way from the tail lights to the module itself?
Assuming yours came with FRM II already, aside from changing pin out and coding, what about the wiring running to the module itself?
