The 2023 Lexus RX 350h Is A Much Improved Hybrid Luxury SUV

  • For decades, #Lexus has held the title as the best-selling luxury nameplate in the US and the fully redesigned #LexusRX350h is a new hybrid option for the #LexusRX family. Utilizing the same 2.5L gas engine with 3-electric motors as the NX 350h, this new #RX350h offers the best of both worlds with nearly 250 HP, standard AWD, and up to 37 MPG in the city. While the new turbocharged #LexusRX350 may end up being the volume seller, we suspect a lot of buyers will be gravitating toward the electrified version, especially if the pricing is similar.

Happy Friday everyone! We managed to shoot 2 separate videos and combined the RX350 (turbo) and RX350h (hybrid) powertrains into this video! Be sure to also watch our second review on the RX500h and RX450h+ as well! After driving all four variants of the new RX, we feel this RX350h hybrid powertrain will be the sweet spot for most RX buyers! Lexus really knocked it out of the park with this generation.

Funny how 95% of these people who will never own these cars are bashing it. Interior and exterior are mostly preference as they all have more or less the same technology. Although Lexus is owned by Toyota it’s far from being the same vehicle, much like how Audi is just a Volkswagen. P.s I own a BMW m3 and a Toyota 4Runner so I’m not subjective. Can’t afford it? My wife and I JUST returned from our local Lexus dealer, so the interior is very fresh in my mind. We are considering the 2022 RX 450h. Upon viewing this I consider the interior of the 2023 to be a downgrade in some regards compared to the 2022 due to the lack of buttons for commonly used items, abandoning them to screens. Ugh. In other ways, some nice upgrades, the cameras are better, that's good. Backseat accommodations, definitely nicer.
As far as drivetrains are concerned, the V6 is the clear winner and I don't understand why Lexus abandoned the buttery smooth V6 for a thrashy 4 cylinder, and ultimately that's what has steered me away from a 2023, looking for one of the last V6 hybrids in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.

Don't understand why everyone is so obsessed with having a huge gauge cluster screen. There is literally zero benefit of having the map display in the gauge cluster other than the ability to tell your friends that you can put your map display in the gauge cluster. I prefer Lexus' approach with this one. The smaller gauge cluster screen tell you the essential driving information. Speed, gas, temperature, and vehicle warning messages. Everything else is on the heads up display and main infotainment screen. I've driven several cars with gauge cluster screens, I mostly didn't use any of the alleged "benefits". My current DD is a 2019 Mazda3 Sedan which also has a smaller less customizable gauge cluster screen that got negative reviews. But I think it's perfect. All the information I need, no nonsense.

One major problem with this new generation RX for those who live in area who has winter is that the design of the front doors goes way below the floor of the car and it's collect all debris from the road. The result is during winter the inside of the doors at the bottom (the huge portion that goes under the floor) is full with snow, ice, calcium, sands. Absolutely terrible it looks awful when you open the doors to go in the car. We hated that on our RX 2023.

here in Europe, 2.5L is a monster. We mostly have suvs the size of RAV-4 powered mostly by 13.L ... 1.6L mild-hybrid engines. The new Dacia Duster power train comes in 3 flavours, one of them being a 0.9L. It is crazy the level of downsizing going on, on this side of the ocean due to taxes, energy and pollution laws. Even if you can afford the cars, you must be pretty rich to pay all the expensive stuff that comes after you bought it ... inssurance, city park permits (which in more and more cities take into account the ice engine cubic volume) road taxes, etc. I am happy for the 2.5L.

I’m still not sold on the 4 cylinder turbo engine on the heavier RX models (vs NX). It changes the ride characteristics of the car. Most RX owners want a smooth, _quiet,_ comfortable ride, where the engine doesn’t have to work overtime to haul a family of 4. Wouldn’t this smaller noisier engine changes that ambiance. Think the best RX powertrain was the outgoing 2022 RX 450H. 246hp for a car this size is a mistake.
