- Barbara Walters, the longtime NBC and ABC journalist who became the first woman to anchor a network TV evening news broadcast, died Friday at age 93. Three friends and colleagues - "Sunday Morning" anchor Jane Pauley, and former ABC News veterans Ted Koppel and Sam Donaldson - sit down to reminisce about Walters' stellar career: the interviews, the successes, and the competitiveness.

Barbara Walters will be missed. But never forgotten.❤
Her autobiography “Audition” is riveting. Talk about a life well lived. Thank you for everything Barbara.
Thank you Jane, Ted & Sam. This was heart felt. I'm 79 & Barbara was a force in most of my adult life. She was inspirational. I love her TV show, the View. I didn't even realize how chauvinistic her profession was to get into.
And the HATE from men who comment on The View is astounding! Sexism is by no means dead! 🤬
No the view is just a one sided political show that pepole dislike because it is a division of annoying women complaining .another reason is the view says false garbage 🗑
Sam and Teds assessment of Barbara is authentic and very heartfelt
Barbara Walter’s, rest well! Your work on this side is complete and everlasting.
Every woman on local and national news cast today owe a debt of gratitude to that woman, she paved the way, grew up watching her..
I have been watching clips. Harry Reasoner did not hide his hatred for her one bit.
In one he said "Barbara I counted. And this evening, you talked 4 minutes more than I did. You owe me 4 minutes."
She had to put up with much BS for decades. And then ageism at the end....
@@lastjob2011 Harry was a punk!

What a lady with class she was trailblazer to women and all the people around the world. She brought laughter and joyous tears to the people touch inspirational. Thank you Barbara Walters.
Thank you jane tedd ,and Sam for this Lovely tribute Barbara Walter was legendary journalist, and a classy woman her legacy willnt be forgotten Rip Barbara Walter my prayer ,and condolences to her family she will be missed 🙏🏾❤.
Growing up with all these legends, it’s sad to see them go.
Barbara Walters certainly was one of the interviewing ladies, that defined how an interview should be- relaxed, comfortable, formal, and soothing. She certainly was a great part of NBC and ABC television, as well as the shows, "The View" and "ABC 20/20", in my day. I know I'll miss her dearly, and I'll forever remember how she had such a huge and emotional farewell, on her retirement day on "The View", as Oprah Winfrey brought out many female colleagues to say goodbye. If that's not a way to retire, then I don't know what is.
Barbara, I'll miss you and I thank you. Keep on riding high, with Gilda Radner and Peter Jennings.
Rest In Peace Barbara..After so many years of service you deserve it..
We have lost so many good People in the year of 2022 !! Rest in Peace and May Perpetual Light Shine Upon Her !! I can't remember a time without Her .. Her and Pope Benedict on the same day ..
I like how in the end here Ted Koppel notes how Barbara Walter's was one of the most important people to ever appear on television. Well said.
Barbara was definitely a trailblazer for women in journalism!! She will be missed!!🌹🌹🌹🌹
I loved to watch her 20/20 Show. No wonder she left for her retirement because I did not realize that she was born in 1920's I thought she born around 1940's. It is sad that she had passed away in couple of days ago. I was speechless and shocked. She is resting and peaceful. I am truly miss her. Love and hug!
She was well into her 80s when she retired.
I did not know she died. What she died of? was covid, heart or the covid vaccine?
One of the things that endeared Barbara Walters to me were the awkward moments like when she said to Jimmy Carter in an interview after being elected: "Be good to us, Mr. President." She asked and said things few would. She was unique and had moxie.
She is very sassy and carismatic.
A true legend.
Touching tribute. Thank you. 🙂 🙏
I so miss the eloquence of these legendary newscasters. Articulate, intelligent, no “ummm, ya know, like,….”👏
"Tenacious".
@@Melinda_Ross yesssss I agree
They were terrible. How objective can you be when you’re dancing with the Shah of Iran?! These “journalists” were in the pockets of power and were glorified propagandists. Look at Ben Bradlee’s relationship with Kennedy.
She lived an extraordinary life.
I know this story is about Barbara, but can I just say that Sam Donaldson looks great. He looks so much more relaxed without his hair shellacked into place
Ted Koppel and him look great.
That’s not his hair!😂😂😂😂😂
@@DippyHippie It never was. That’s obviously the point.
Barbara would probably love that you said that!!
b
Barbara would like that !!!!☆☆☆🇺🇲
They’ll never be another one like her. 🙌
Great loss...there will never be another.
Great to see Sam, Ted, & Jane legends themselves again reminiscing about their longtime colleague. I miss the days of substantive experienced investigative reporters. R..I.P. Barbara Walters
I didn't realize how I miss Ted Koppel's voice...great to see him
Barbara walters was a part of my childhood no doubt, I loved her work on tv and she will be missed
She was a beautiful, smart, talented woman. May she R.I.P.
A " danger " combination . A beauty, smart and unique character. All in one lady .
So good to see Ted Koppel here. He looks amazing!! Thanks to all for their comments on BW
Barbara was tough but elegant and very beautiful she never aged 🥰
Love Barbara and what she stood and had to fight for as a journalist. Love you all. #formertvjournalist
One of the best interviewers ever. Gilda Radner's "Baba Wawah" on SNL was so funny. Probably couldn't do that one today making fun of someone's speech impediments. Both are gone now and their respective legends will live on.
Love this idea to get Ted, Jane and Sam to pay tribute to Barbara; really enjoyed this.
Rip Barbara you are one of the best news anchor s out their we will be thinking of you and we enjoyed watching your interviews with famous people
I love her personality, voice, empathy, hearing, emotions, the movement of her ability to hear and create the questions with the harmony of her body movements. She made me smile, laugh , surprise me, react, question me!! Unique, Amazing, Intelligent and with many Class. Thank you Mrs. Barbara Walters you will be in my heart forever. Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentine
RIP Barbara Walters. You had a most interesting life. God Bless!!
Never will anyone replace her Barbara was a class act
She lived a full life & was a vessel for so many women.
She will most definitely go down in history.
RIP
Barbara truly knew how to ask the questions we all wanted answers to, in a respectful manner. She truly is & was one of a kind. RIP Barbara Walters 🙏.
In a respectful manner? Like when she essentially outed Ricky Martin against his will? Or when she shamed Suzanne Somers for nude photos published against her will?
Barbara was a great interviewer. She wasn't afraid to ask questions people wanted the answers to.
She was, indeed. It's sad that not many are like her, when it comes to serious questioning, in today's interviews.
Oh well
We don't leave this world alive.
I feel scared. Little by little we are losing the last greatest pioneers in their fields. Barbara walters is sinonime of greatness and magnificent. We lost betty white exactly a year ago too. We lost joan rivers a couple of years ago. Ruth bader ginsburg in 2020. The first ones in their fields. My god.
One measure of her Greatness , was that she was allowed to ask questions that no one else could ask unless THEY were Barbara Walters !!!...
Great news woman - Setting a precedent - Great legacy.
Its good to see Sam Donaldson
And the others. Barbara Walters was a groundbreaker.
7:17 The only surviving members of ABC’s Magnificent Seven are Ted Koppel Sam Donaldson and Diane Sawyer.
And Ted Koppel.
Kind of passively aggresively hostile and cold to her subjects but what an amazingly diverse range of interviewees. Nice thoughts on her daughter and legacy too. RIP
Harry Reasoner once complained her airtime infringed on his by 4 minutes. I hope Barbara tells him where he can put those 4 minutes.
Bruh.
Joy behar once in the view says de f word to reasoner, Babs smiled. He was a pi g.
@@nyc1929 imma see if I can find that. 🙂
2 years ahead of my dad in high school...I got some different kinds of reminiscences
Oh?
A great reporter. Always be remembered for her excellent interviews. A woman of courage, with great ambitions in life. Being a woman does not mean being less prepared or capable to have success in whatever field a woman choose.
The greats talking about one of the greatest
Barbara and Walter I loved watching. She was more than a legend she could make you happy she could make you sad. She'll be sorely missed.
Wonderful tribute 🥹
Fantastic stories! What a life she lived!
Farwell to a whole bunch of my favorites. At 8 yrs old I remembered so many of them. Great meemories. Thank you for the reminder and notice of their loss and of our loss. Life will never be the same without them. So many great great memories. I wish I were with you. Rest in Peace and refurbish our lives with all your resonance. Don't rob this next generation with all this Karma. Rest, thank you for influentioning my life. What a great woman.
Always thought she was a soft interviewer, but she was through and got the answers to tough questions🥲
She made herself a legend by being bold with some inappropriate questions to her guests. The one that comes to mind is her talk with Dolly Parton.
May she rest easy. The world can breathe a sigh of relief because there’s no more brilliant interviews.
Barbara Walters ❤️🙏✝️✌️😎 a beautiful soul
What a life. Thanks for the memories, Barbara. Legend.
My prayers are with her family and may she rest in peace. If anybody could stop the world from turning it was Barbara Walters. She will be deeply missed in this world.
Sincerely

A woman of Substance! God Rest Your Soul Barbara, you were one of the greats!
I've watched Barbra Walters since a little girl,my mother liked her rip Barbra
ICON LEGEND LOVE U BABS ❤️
7:17 The only surviving members of ABC’s Magnificent Seven are Ted Koppel Sam Donaldson and Diane Sawyer.
8:12 Tom Brokaw and the rest are still alive because we also lost Jim Hartz this year too
Where's Charles Gibson
He wasn’t part of that group. In fact Good Morning America wasn’t made a part of ABC News until 1997. It was under the entertainment department.
Dan Rather
Barbara Walters was an awesome Woman who did a lot of News and television shows that entertained people!!
I Love You Too Jane Pauley ❤
I miss Nightline.
Grew Up with Barbara Walter 😍 ❤️ 💕
She was one of the Greats
Wow legendary
She was one of a kind, what an icon Barbara !
Lovely piece. Barbara Walters was one of those timeless type people who it seemed would be with us forever as we look at these clips of her. I know she had been out of the public eye though for nearly a decade…Jane seemed rather unbecomingly uneasy for whatever reason-like it was painful paying tribute to Barbara.
Beautiful life
Nice job ,Jane!☆☆☆
It's sort of unbelievable she's passed but there ya go. Rest peacefully.
Excellent
Barbara Walters opened up so many doors for female journalists.
Many have tried to imitate her, but, there is only one Barbara.
Exquisite segment! Thank you for sharing these powerful stories about Barbara Walters!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
😢❤
Everything SO true & so touching to honor Barbara Walters. She was a CLASS ACT, GREAT journalist & great example of womanhood. It's a REAL shame her project The View has turned into a Hate Fest table of political racist individuals with NO class. Barbara was VERY smart to get away from the hateful attitudes.
RIP Ms Barbara Walters,.....you did it right w/ CLASS!
Nice tribute
Happy Trails Ms. Walter's! When does the interview with the Big Guy air?
Much Love from Lily L. You're safe now.
Rest In Peace.
I had no idea she passed away. But wow ! What a long successful life.
Btw: the view is absolutely horrible now
Yassar : All religious wars are about people arguing over who has the most powerful invisible friend.“ - Yasser Arafat
I remember years ago when Dolly Parton was starting out. Barbara Walters did an interview with her. Barbara was so rude and mean. Made nasty remarks to her. But being the true professional between the two of them, Dolly remain very sweet as she responded. She made Walter's look like the mean girl she was being. Looking at their net worth and success seems Dolly came out on top.
Not a fan of hers or her style of interviews. But, she had an interesting life. May she rest in peace.
Barbara vs Harry Reasoner is Ron Burgundy vs Veronica Corningstone .
Barbara had workings with the news networking it ABC news and how she is cool back then too, i sill like her workings with others into the news even it NBC is sill had it too with her back as she was doing it old school now, then move to ABC then she was out now, good bay Barbara Walters now,
Where is the thank you to Barbara Walters from Jane Pauley ?
You probably be waiting on that one
I remember when she interviewed Donny. To his face she called him a lier, and said his office was a mess
WOW OL SAM
DID HE AGE!
Where was Dan Rather for this interview?
I’m sorry to hear about Ms. Walters’ death.
Was this filmed during covid times?
Well it’s still COVID times… seriously though, they had to put this together in less than 48 hours, thus the split screen.
@@nikobatallones just shows how the media elite won’t come off holiday to pay tribute to Barbara
@@88rtd Jane did an extended piece, Ted led the interview, and Sam -- who himself is in his 90s -- took the time off to do it. But you still want them to do more?
