  • In this video we use my favorite drone the DJI Mini 3 Pro to visit the Geronimo cave at the Robledo Mountains in Radium Springs, NM.

THANK YOU for sharing this hiking opportunity! We ventured out there today and thoroughly enjoyed the moderate 2.5 mile RT hike. Your driving directions were spot on. Couple of pointers......when you reach the river turn LEFT and drive down a bit to cross the river on foot. When you cross the river you then cross thru the trees on the other side of the river bank before you get to a trail. Depending on where you cross the river you then turn right before you find the trail head. It's NOT a well marked trail head. Do NOT follow All Trails to the trail head. Look for a small pile of rocks on the left side to denote where to turn and begin the trek upwards. Once you start heading up you won't go far before you see a wooden post as the trail marker. Great hike!

The areas behind the cave to the right and above have from a past video looked to be the ruins of a past cultured civilization imo .

Can you access it from the other side and not get wet?

I haven’t been up there, but there are trails on the very top of the Robledo mts that you might be able to access from the Prehistoric Trackways National Monument, but now you would have to climb down into the cave and it looks very steep.

Depending on what time of year you go you can cross and not get wet. We went today (11/26) and the river was mostly dried up. There was a "path" across the remaining water people had created with rocks. We were able to cross w/o getting our shoes too wet. :) Having a walking stick to balance ourselves as we crossed the make shift "bridge" was helpful.
