    I replaced my cabin air filter over the weekend and noticed the metal side panel adjacent to the passenger door(8:27) was also rusted.
    I haven't noticed a leak but I also haven't had the vehicle too long. I'm going to have to check this out. Thanks for the video.

    My 2004 CRV's leak is on the driver side. I believe the culprit a broken roof molding gasket. one of the molding pieces is loose as well. Aged, cracked, wind whipped, and broke. A molding screw looks stripped too. I think the rubber liner runs the full length of the molding from windshield all the way back to the read hatch. I had a piece of the rubber broken off right were the windshield molding meets the first roof molding above the driver door. The inside door fabric is damp at this location. I think the water is running all the way down the front part of the door and into the driver's floor. Lots of water there after too good days of rain. The gasket is discontinued. Have to use RTV to seal it up i guess. Tip: After removing the rack and the roof molding screws, you need to slide the molding to the rear about 3 inches to get past the clips. The slide in a groove with an outlet at one end. Should lift up easy after that. If not, you'll break the clips forcing it up. I did.

    Good video mine was leaking into the vent. Hasn't leaked since. Couldn't take out the clips along the windshield, only the bottom ones and lifted it up. Put clear hard plastic over the top and held it with a strong magnet from a computer harddrive.

    Dude thank you so much for doing these videos I bought the single worst Honda CRV 1999 it's ever existed I thought I had 177,000 miles on it when I bought it from a used car dealership it has over 350,000 and I've had to pull the head off with a buddy of mine and rebuild the head and I've been steadily pouring all my money is damn thing and I have no choice but we've had a lot of rain where I went to my new apartment there's pouring rain all night and I went out this morning and there was a 3-inch late in the passenger side floorboard and I thought that you've been fixed but nope so this save my ass cuz this looks like a really easy fix and I really appreciate you guys

    Hey man just want to say all of your crv videos really help me out. I am really surprised that they dont get more views cause I have watched a ton of crv videos and can say hands down yours are very informative and great instructional. I had a couple rd1 questions with your extensive knowledge.
    1. I have oil leaking from what appears to be my oil sensor but cant pull the plug off and no matter how I try to get at it its like feeling around in the dark. Is there a good way to get at them and do you know what size socket one would use to take it off?
    2. I have scoured the entire web trying to find a good instructional on how to replace the clutch in the rd1. Would you consider maybe taking that on in one of your videos?

    • @hondaresource
      @hondaresource  Před 2 lety +3

    2000 CRV -EX 276,000 miles....Have you ever encountered one that both fans run continuously at normal engine temperature without the AC turned on? I recently replaced two of the sensors with OEM HONDA sensors. One was a coolant temp and the other activates the engine radiator fan. There is a third one that signals the temp gauge in the dash, but I didn't replace that one yet. Thank you for all of your awesome , helpful videos. : )

    • @hondaresource

      Yes, that is normal. They are classified as radiator or condenser fans but both activate with the a/c or the engine temp.

    I located a water leak on one of my vehicles by turning the blower motor on full blast to pressurize the cabin and then applied soapy water (car wash) to various suspected areas. It was the windshield seal up along the top edge of the glass. The area was slightly perforated with rust holes along the seal.

    Have watched several of these and no one shows how to remove the wiper arms !!!! The hardest part and needed a special puller to do it. Don't attempt this repair without the puller. All other methods are a waste of time and you might break your cowling plastic like I did, and now have to repair that.

      Used rtv on every possible leak points. Got my front windshield removed, rusty spots got patched up by a mechanic... The leak is in the middle... Maybe it is coming from heater core. Unfortunately I don't have the set up to do it myself. No driveway or garage at my house. it is hard to find a decent mechanic who would be willing to listen.

      You have a fun job ahead, check all the usual suspects for the passenger side leak. (Roof rails, roof rack if equipped, blower intake shield, cowl seals, cracked sealant) If it’s none of these then rip the dash out and inspect all the sealant because it’s likely some of it has cracked. Like I said, it’s a fun job. That should get you set, good luck.

    I've had the same problem now. The carpet has dried up but I think that the insulation underneath is still wet and my car smells of damp. We thought that this water was overflowing from the thin hose from the sunroof. Water also comes to my trunk. Or probably through the light. However, in the trunk I can take out the wheel and wipe it. And there in front I don't know what to do. I don't understand what Honda did wrong with the construction of that car..
    Many people have similar problems with water in this car. I like my car but now I would not buy the same one because this problem with water and besides, new models do not have a CD player. In my opinion, this is ignoring the customer. Especially since we pay a lot of money for it. I am looking for a car with a CD and it will probably Subaru. This company at least thinks about the needs of customers.

    Curious to see... I have a 97 that I thought was an HVAC drain issue (I cleaned it out pretty well and it drains better). I ended up spraying lysol under the dash and at the top of the carpet. That helped for a couple of days but after running the AC and one shower the mildew smell came back. I can't find any DIRECT wet carpet on either side of the car. Any thoughts about a slow leak? Perhaps just like you mention windshield?
