Definitely bring me back to the college time of young adult seeking everything around. Thank you.

just finished the book (my first Murakami novel) and it totally flew over my head the point you brought up about different realities! it makes so much sense and, looking back, it did put me in different head spaces whenever he went to different places: the uni campus, his dorm, midori‘s first house, the sanatorium, the house he rented at the end of the book. really loved your video and gave me a whole new perspective on norwegian wood! appreciate it and will sure be subscribing

Thanks for the comment! I've read a few Murakami novels at this point and one of the recurring themes through most of them are these kinds of different realities. I'm so glad you found the chat useful and thanks for subscribing!

I just finished it this morning after a colleague had recommend his books. And I found it intense and very well written. Great review, thank you.

Brilliant video! I’ve just finished reading the book myself, I’m looking forward to exploring more of his work. Thank you for taking the time out to do this review!

You have the quality eyes to catch the uniqueness of the book to make people want to read it! I read it when it came out in Japan as a college student. It was not like any other books that were out there at that time. So refreshing and shocking the way Murakami described.

Interesting video, Norwegian Wood was the first Murakami book, my favourite is the The Wind Up Bird Chronicle.

Thanks! The Wind Up Bird Chronicle was great but I think my favorite is still Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World.

@@EarnestlyEston I haven't read either of those, I read Kafka on the Shore and Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki

There are rumours that harry styles refernced this book in his album fine line.
So I might add to my "might read" list

Thanks about the explanation on different realities. I really did not like reading this book. I have been processing it for the past few days and just thinking about what parts stood out to me and what ideas I did like.

I love those too! My favorites that I’ve read so far are probably Kafka on the Shore and Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World but love others as well. I plan to reread The Wind Up Bird Chronicle at some point.

I plan on reading Hard-boiled next, then A Wild Sheep Chase and finally 1Q84. Murakami is just so wonderful!

Too funny. Yes I’m Quaker & I thought it was funny to say Quaker cats. Since they like to kill everything. Kind of like Wilmington College & the fighting Quakers. 😳 Are you programmed or non? I don’t think I know any other Quakers on Booktube.

@@sterlingreads547 “fighting Quakers” 🤣 Yes you are the only other Quaker I’ve ever met on Booktube as far as I’m aware. What an unexpected pleasure to meet a Friend here! I’m a member of a non programmed meeting. And you?

Yes, the same. I love sitting in silence for 45 minutes. I haven’t been to meeting since Covid but I still meditate in silence & try to work on my queries 😊 I’m reading a wonderful book called The Parallel Sayings of Jesus and Buddha by Marcus Borg. It’s so nice to have found you on here.

I love the silence in meeting as well - It’s so restorative. We’ve been doing zoom meetings during the pandemic but it’s not quite the same. The book sounds fascinating!
