These POV videos tell so much more than what you could tell by word about how you find your shots. 10/10.
Glad to hear it was interesting to you! Yes, it's a very cool way of showing the process :)
@@SamuelStreetlife These videos are amazing! Please do more videos like this! Thank you for all your work!
You say your English is “not so good.” I love your clean, clear, honest delivery. Your English, by the way, is very good!
you do have an accent, but hey what counts more is what is being told and that is just interesting... I just like your laid-back narrative style!
Throughout the years I’ve bought (and still own) 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 40mm, 50mm, and 85mm primes , as well as a 24mm - 120mm zoom, and I definitely know which I used the most and which I use the least. If I could only own one lens it would be the 35mm - but I wouldn’t be very happy. But if I could only own two it would be the 28mm and the 50mm. Those two as a team really can handle a lot of situations.
Can't agree with you more. I like variety but ultimately I try to only pair 2 lenses at a time.
I love the "through the evf" point of view!! It's so much fun watching you catch the shot!
Phenomenal work. Raising the bar here. Loved this video and really showing how and why these lenses differ. Great work brother!
In my Canon days 50 & 85mm were my main tools and 35 was only accessory. It all changed with the X100 and 35mm became my favorite focal lens. Now I wanna try 24mm. Things change and your videos help so thank you Samuel!
Revisted this video for a second time..also loving the jazzy music! We Appreciate you!
Thanks for the fresh and informative perspective. Great work!
Thank you for doing all this man. You are of great help! Your videos are extremely helpful and inspiring!
My favorite focal length is 28mm - I think that it's your favorite focal length too since you grabbed a Ricoh GR at the end. 28 mm takes in enough of the background to put your subject in it context, making for a better "story". 50 mm tends to isolate the subject, making your photo look like a page out of a field guide.
Thanks for showing the use of different lens real time, it is very educational for me by understanding how you use each lens. Please do more of this.
Excellent idea of POV vs photos!!! Thank you for sharing your tips 👌
Este es el mejor canal de youtube de street photography, gracias por tanto genio!!
You did well! Good enough to show how to get those shots in your eyes! Thank you for the inspirations ! Love your styles of shooting ! I love candid shots too! I am still learning .
Another great video and loving the in camera POV. My key take away is how lens choice relates to both the look that you are going for and the techniques used ie cutoff and fishing.
You should do more of those POVs. It really help us to understand your and potentially our awareness and what you and us would go for.
Brilliant video, clearly showing a real-time example of each focal length.
Man super happy to hear that! Thanks for watching :)
That was definitely a pretty good video, Sam! Thanks very much for the effort and insights!
I love the POV! I need to learn how to do this.
Great video, I love the content and you pulled some nice snaps. Well done.
I am so glad to have come across this video! I recently bought a 35mm XC lens, and fell into that mistake of thinking it gave a 35mm focal length. However I actually really like the idea of finding better isolation in subjects with my 50mm focal length, and your examples of how to approach a scene really help
You did a great job on this video. It really is informative.
Those pictures at the end were very artistically done. Excellent photos!
Thanks for the shout out Samuel 🙏🏻
Love the POV! Based on how wide I'm shooting, my shooting style completely changes.
Thanks for the video.
Over the decades, I have tried 21, 24, 28, 35, 40, 45, 50, and 55mm for one lens/one full-frame body street photography. All worked well.
The 24, 35, and 50mm lenses work well alone or with others.
Here are three three-lens kits that I like to use for street photography:
24/50/105
24/35/85
24/35/90
Cool, and the end is even cooler. Thank you!
Your videos always make me happy!
I found with the Ricoh that 9/10 times I would crop the image in post to around 35mm equivalent, so I use a 50mm and a 35mm for virtually all my work now.. I love how close Gilden would get to his subjects, but I like just a little more space incase I have to step out the way of in-coming fists! 😉
Thanks Tony! Good comment on the fist thing haha. And I think Bruce Gilden got a few fists thrown at him in his lifetime :D
Perfect ending. I laughed out loud. nice one.
That was great, thank you Samuel!
Thanks for the video, very helpful.
Love this pov style from the evf!
I love your content !!! Just came across your CZcams and is so good ! Thanks 😊
Thanks for the video RoboCop. Please keep them coming. I enjoyed the Nick Turpin style FPS
This was such a unique video, love the 'in-camera' pov
Love this format
Great video! I've actually been debating on which lens to buy next, leaning towards the 23 mm.
I really enjoyed the screen being recorded here. Nice alternative, but more work I guess on the edit and all the gear that you need to walk with. Well done!
Looking forward to using my 35mm focal length f2 lens in Tokyo in April and May. Thanks for this!
This is really helpful! And, your English is just fine.
Thank u for the informative and the humorous discussion on street lens...j
You actually took very good photos and the colour of the images are beautiful. 👌🏼
That ending was brilliant haha 👍🏼
Love your channel, you’re a good teacher
Really well done... great pictures and great comments... thank you
Thanks Roland!
Fantastic video … as always! Thank you.
Fantastic video!! I wish you make more like this! 👏👏💪
That ending worth the wait!
Very good example video to show how different your own photos look like with different focal lengths. 👍 I would include 85mm too because it looks like it becomes a new trend to use an even more isolating length.(monaris, sixstreetunder) Could you tell where you get that black square lens hood? I'am looking for quite some time to get one. (germany)
Awesome video, Samuel! Paul Klee would be proud of your fish tank photography demonstrations
Love the ending expression haha!
I’d like to point out how happy that family makes me feel at 4:28
Samuel, I wanted to say, your videos are classic! 😉
Man that suspense at the end !!! :)
that aquarium in the street is sick. What great idea !
Definitely one of your best (educational) videos so far! ✌️
An EVF nighttime video like that would be nice too 😎
Bro your work is amazing!! Btw...Where can I find your music?
Lol that ending was priceless
Nice video as always!
Thanks Kubmats! :D
Hi ..loved the video ... can you please share for how you shot this POV video as i would love to understand this technique on my videos too .
great video. Thank you so much
This video is great. Perfect advices with Examples. I will buy a prime 24mm lens. Your examples opened my mind. Congratulations and keep going.
Great tips thanks
This is helpful, thank you
Great episode man....
🤩
Another great video - no surprise! I shoot my street at 14mm (21mm equiv) but I like to get in really close. If not close enough I really love the "commotion" in a lot of my images. It works for me.
Love this video and all your shots! How did you record this and snap photos at the same time?
I love this video format! I shoot with the xpro2 and xt1 and it’s great to see what settings you’re using to get certain images! Can’t wait to try some of these!
Thank you for the lens comparison! Also, you have Very good English! Great job!
This makes me want all three! (or a zoom with click-stops in between, if there was such a thing) But I can definitely see how 35 seems the most natural to me out of these, and why 40 was popular on old film rangefinders like the Canonet.
nice comparison of focal length. how do you do that POV video?
Super interesting! Thanks!
Den Hund mit der Löwenmähne (7:27) hab ich vor zwei Jahren schon in Ginza gesehen. Scheint wohl öfter da zu sein :D Sehr cooles Video mit interessanter Übersicht über die verschiedenen Brennweiten.
Thanks for the Vid Samuel, really enjoyed. Liked the last few cheeky seconds where you grabbed the Ricoh GR. Does this mean your fave focal length is 28mm?
Yes :)
Hi Samuel, I liked a lot your video and the last photos you put on the video were really good and inspiring. I don´t know so much about famous street photographers and It would be nice a video about them for inspiration.
this video is 18 minutes long and it felt like 5 lol great video Samuel!
Relieved to hear that! Was worried it was too long... Thanks Miguel!
@@SamuelStreetlife Couldn't agree with this more! such a fantastic job keep keeping things interesting throughout as always! Fantastic editing also! :)
Great video, enjoyed it!
Bought myself 35mmf2 but didn’t know it is really 50mm. Going to 23mm next
Nurlan Baytok 35f2 is my favorite lens out of the whole lineup. Hope you are enjoying it!
That ending was hella funny! I knew it!
Hehe
Very nice videos !!! Thank you very much 🙏🙏🙏
Hey, this gave a lot of info i was just thinking if you could make same video with actual 50mm lens...
Great video man, I don't know how many times I watched this one. Quick question what is the lens hood on the 23mm and 35mm f2?
LIKE especially for the final scene
This’s one of my favorite videos. Thank you. So, what is your favorite focal length in wide angle lenses? 🎉
Thank you for sharing this! I’m in a dilemma of choosing between the xf23 mm Fuji lens for my xt30 and the ricoh gr 3. What would you recommend me ?
I'm loving my 40mm. What are your thoughts on 85mm for street photography?
GREAT VIDEO! I'm using a 12-24mm DX lens and a classic 50mm and BOTH are helpful in the street! :) Thanks!
Cool! Please tell me how did you make the video show the information from the camera?
Hey! Not sure if was a question before but I also do street photography and wonder how you attached your actioncam to your camera?
I use a gopro on my chest what is a good look but I like your idea as well and maybe want to apply to my set up too.
Great video! Just wondering how are shooting and recording like this TTL? 😳🤔😳
im curious too
The shot at 4:54…perfect timing!
Do u have a video of how you are doing this so subtly/ how do u do ur street photography
i shot leica for years loved the 50mm and the 28mm. the 35 was kinda this strange focal length that was either too wide or too tele if that makes sense.
the 28 is amazing for close up street work and the 50 just seemed so natural and cinematic to me. 35 to me was the red headed step child in my family.
do you shoot with viewfinder or screen in this video? it looks like you didn't disturb the scene much when you shoot.
Both! The camera was attached to an external recorder which makes it a little uncomfortable to use with the viewfinder so I was mostly using the LCD screen.
Sam, what do you think of using a zoom? I'm trying a Nikon a1000 for a few days. I'd like to work as lite as possible with being flexible. I look forward to hearing from you.... I hope.
Great ending. Ricoh FTW!
28mm MASTER FOCAL LENGTH!
I personally like 28mm too.
Got me at the end haha! Awesome video, subscribed for more :)
Despite your concern, the difference in field of view and framing was VERY clearly shown in this video. The switching made it fresh. Lots of great images too!
Were you back button focusing? You seemed to focus so fast. It still takes time to click the back button focus and then the shutter so I was surprised at how fast you focused. Also your exposure compensation seemed to change on It's own?!. How did you do that? Or are you just that fast at turning the exposure compensation wheel?
I am a HUGE HUGE fan. I love your content, style and presentation. beautiful work as usual, keep it up!! Many cheers and blessings from Canada!!!
p.s. could you do a video show exactly how you created this pov video. It would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
Thank you! Aopreciate your comment. In my last Q&A video I talk about my setup for recording the viewfinder. I use a atomos recorder and connect that via hdmi camble to my camera. Then I just record the viewfinder through the recorder.
Excellent video, Samuel. I see you like the 18/28mm (APSC/Full-frame) perspective. Fuji has an 18mm f/2. One day, do a shoot with that lens and tell us what you think of it.
great captures! btw what strap is that..
