30 or more MP would be very beneficial. I’m a photojournalist for an international wire agency and being able to crop while retaining good resolution is extremely useful. Of course there always a balancing act between megapixels and noise / dynamic range, which is why I’m hoping for 30MP as a starting range. And dust protection / weather sealing is a must and is a pretty big issue for every working photojournalist I know who has any GR camera. But again, really depends on the market Ricoh are aiming towards. I hope they can create an update for both pros and enthusiasts. It will certainly attract X100 and Q users who have been considering the leap to Ricoh.

If they made the Ricoh GR IV weatherproof and with a flash I’d be happy, I’d easily spend up to $1300 for a camera and repurchase every time it breaks down because I’ve bought 2 GR IIIs and they both have issues that can’t seem to be fixed for some reason. We don’t need any filters added and the firmware is fine - they updated the firmware this year and it’s not as good as last year but honestly just want the camera to be more durable and easier to handle 24/7.

The Ricoh GX100 (2007) and GX200 have EVFs, they are much more close in size to the GR, so it shows they have done EVFs before.. They were however smaller sensors with no in body IS so there was more room in the body.

EVF as you want would cost more than the camera itself, remember the current GV-2 mini external viewfinder cost more than 200 euros!! You forgot to mention a bigger and better battery (the current one is a joke). Also better ergonomics and 3:4 aspect ratio !!!

Considering the gr3 is the smallest C frame camera in the world, personally I won't mind Ricoh make the gr4 little bit larger, especially if they spend the space on a larger battery. Even if the gr4 become more heavier, it is still acceptable. External EVF is just not my thing, but if Ricoh can offer a tiny external flash light, that will be really useful. Flash light is just sooo important in photography, currently I can only mount a bulky stupid large flash on my gr3, that's a pity 😢

- no lens movement when the camera turns on (lens housing is big, maybe for style?) would improve the dust issue, which i had. - wireless viewfinder is not a great idea. it would need a battery. You can solve that problem with a shutter in the ricoh phone app. - bring back the flash

I agree with Samuel's views on 24MP being enough: my other camera is a Leica M10 (also 24KMP), and I haven't gone for the newer 40MP M10-R or the 60MP M11 because, with the GIII/GIIIx and the M10, I can easily make 100x150cm (40x60 inch prints. The ideas on an external EVF optical VF are also good. While some people won't by a GR camera because they feel they need a built-in VF, for me an external one is a better idea: when I first bought the original GR Digital camera, the first two days I went out shooting (in the bright tropical light of Bangkok), I attached an external Voigtländer optical VF but found that I never used it. Instead, I preferred the freedom and flexibility of using the LCD for one-hand shooting: I roughly determined the edges of the frame by looking at the LCD but, then, always looked directly on the subject when I pressed the shutter. After those first two days, I never use the external VF for any of the Ricoh Digital Cameras again, Never missed it. Instagram: @mitchalland

would not use a removable viewfinder. agree no flipscreen. it should be compact and robust - even more robust? agree 24MP is totally fine and preferable if they can do magic with dynamic range and noise in that order. that image quality enhancemeent would be better than having digital zoom which i dislike.

A possibility is to have a built-in range finder-style viewfinder and leave the hot shoe for flash and/or EVF. The megapixel upgrade, if it is part of GR IV, would be simply a marketing move to meet the current consumer trend, but if Ricoh does do that, the cost might be considerably higher because logically, a more powerful processor/sensor will be needed. Let's wait and see!

Flip EVF would be cool. Optical EVF maybe better. For me, a compact camera always has a built-in flash. A very small flash attachment would be also cool. 28mm and 40mm are both super!

If you really don’t mind using the LCD most of the time but want blackout free shooting then the Sony RX100 Mark vii is an excellent choice. The pop up electronic viewfinder is also there if you need it in very bright conditions.

This is a push, but an F2 lens while keeping the same form factor would be phenomenal.

why use an evf when you can bluetooth to your phone.....

They need to fix the infamous flex cable that breaks easily inside the lens mechanism. Then I might consider buying one again.

I wish they would make everything but the lens weather sealed and then sell a lens cover that makes the camera stick out more, but then is weather proof. (I imagine that it’s basically impossible to do the mechanism in the lens completely weather proof when it needs to move so much, so just sell a weather proof lens hood and make the rest of the camera weather proof) I dont really think the dust-issue is a thing but i would LOVE to take pictures in the rain with that sensor! I really like your idea about the evf!🥰

Very good video, it's something I also miss, a fast burst so I don't miss anything and the screen stays on during the bursts, since it turns black and I lose the frame of what I'm doing. The articulated screen is a must, really useful in certain shots so I don't have to get down on the ground. An electronic viewfinder as an accessory in a great idea, I hope they listen to you.

- stabilize the sensor around the focus point like what nikon recently did (it seems to really work well) - simplify the menu structure (like a Q for example) - no video features required, just remove the option completely - more adjustment options for creating in camera film recipes (would be great to be able to do it on your phone, see a preview and push it to the gr) - probably not possible but a better battery would be really great. - a monochrome hdf companion version next to a regular color one (i would buy both) - a custom crop option, would like to set my own in-camera crop (together with more film recipe configuration options (yes profiles bit film recipe sounds nicer😂) it would make it fun and easy to share everywhere without additional edits on the phone.

I do agree with keeping megapixels the same, and that we need a better quality sensor. The low light performance is bad, and we need less noise, the noise of the sensor is ugly compared to my other cameras.

I would love to see a ricoh fixed lens range finder camera. Like a big brother to the GR. That'd be so sick! Could have a brighter non-collapsible lens, no auto-focus needed. Like an apsc leica m11/Q3 hybrid.

The EVF would certainly be cool but considering the absolutely disgusting price of the current OVF, it just wouldn't be worth buying. It would be more expensive than a Voigtlander lens for goodness sake!
