I think from now on I'm just going to watch and see what you come up with. This is why I have enjoyed watching your channel all along. Look forward to hearing from you. Take care brother.
I like that pull out ideas. You got me thinking on that awning, may make a canoe rack with awning perchs on ends, but I'm going out the back & sides with mine.
Hey Zack Andy from New York came across your videos surfing CZcams trying to build some pull outs for my adventure van anyways awesome videos. Love your mild humor .triple thumbs up. Happy trails
My first thought when I saw your first bedding arrangements, "I hope his kids are past the bed wetting phase." You did a nice job with that setup. It has given me an idea for our 15 passenger van.
I can't believe someone stole my fix for you !! But I have 2 lol. Stolen one was the hammock idea, but it comes with fond memories. 1963 and we had a Ford econoline van my dad made 2 hammocks that went side 2 side. We made a trip from California to Missouri. Big SMILES !! 2nd thought for a solution is to use a 2x4 runner along each side by the window but sitting on the truck, put some rubber along bottom so it won't slip and screw from the top of plywood to the 2x4 possibly put a brace between the two 2x4 s but far enough away that you don't hit it rolling over. Thanks for sharing your videos, Rodney
Nice work Zach. I've also built my own drawer set up in a couple of vehicles and you don't quite realise how much work is involved till you start. Virtually every piece is custom measured and fitted. Yeah..love you work. Nice! :)
Thanks Underground, I’ve used it once and have a long weekend camp out planned for Memorial Day and will hopefully be able to give a fair assessment afterwards. The first time seemed to be really good.
Ok just finished a pull out drawer set up in my Tacoma shortbed. It’s really for tools as I don’t have a cap. The one issue is the reduced depth of my truck bed and no where to walk. Now I see this absolutely genius idea and I’m goin to scrap everything and start over so I can do it like yours. And the ladder ide is amazing too. Although I may just buy a $35 tailgate ladder on amazon so I can keep the middle of bed open all the time. The one idea I had which I think was original was I used roofing rubber bought at Ace Hardware for 12 bucks and stapled it to top of drawer covers so it waterproofed the top and made for great grip and keeps anything stored on top from sliding. Also added to the color as I painted the drawers flat black to match bedliner. If I can ever find a five foot cap (Tacoma ones that size seem impossible to get aftermarket ) I could convert set up to accommodate camping. Thank you Zack for the inspiration 💪🏻👍🏻
Like your ideas. Especially the slot idea.I made a pull-out recently but didn't think to do the contour for the wheel-well, great idea. I went to Harbor Freight and bought some steel roller ball rollers, low profile, mounted on underside of slide-out (had to measure exactly so they would run in the channels of the bed liner. Helps reduce friction but they do occasionally come out of the grooves, your slot idea would keep it aligned. Thanks.
Looks very functional, please keep us all updated on the progress of this project. On my dads pick up, he made some small cabinets right as you enter the shell for more storage. Just an idea
still, remember the camping box my dad build for my mom it had all the thing we need for camping we had tent trailer at first, now they have a motorhome to travel with the funning thing about the box they still have the same dishes they started with and the pots as well too we all have pull or 5 wheel trailers now too and when we all go out camping together we fill the campground up now too family has grown much bigger now too love the group sites in the campground very use a much better use for the weekend fun
Good job I've seen many truck fixed up love the way you did yours. I deff would like to fix one like that if I ever get me another truck mine blew loved that truck. Now got suv which I could still do that in it. So depends if I keep or swap or sell and get truck. But great video y'all have fun and god bless
The ladder is impressive how it pops out. I don’t know how 4 people even is little kids can fit in there! There are truck tent add ons you can buy that would give extra space and protections from bugs, rain too.
GREAT VIDEO, THANKS FOR SHARING! Im sure others have said this, but I cant get caught on YT reading all of the comments, LOL.. That ladder you built could easily serve as a support if you made it a tad bit shorter, so it sits at a 90 degree to the slide out. Add some scrap wood to the inside walls of the ladder (2X4's) to reinforce it and you would have as stable a surface as you could get, without sacrificing the intended function as a ladder.
You can put these table leg grommets that mount flat at the very edge bottom end and screw in the legs to support your slide out when out . I have seen this done with hardware from Ikea for little bedside tables
Stumbled across this video - cool build! I think your drawer design with the incorporated ladder is really nice and would work well if someone could market it
Ingenious. You did a great job. Tweak it a bit after a few uses and start building them for sale. There are a lot of van dwellers that would buy. One big suggestion though; Don't serve beans for the evening cook out.
His first effort for a place for the kids to sleep reminds me of that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer was renting drawer space for Chinese guys to sleep in but the humidity of the sauna made the wood swell and the drawers wouldn't open, I do like the hammocks though.
I know this is an older video but another thing that works good to slide the drawers on is old cutting boards the white ones that are made from that plastic type material.
Truly the most innovative use of space that I have ever seen.
Simple, ingenious design, love your wood working skills! Happy Camping!
You have amazing skills. What a wonderful build.
I freaking LOVE the CAPTIVE BOLT for the slider. Sheer brilliance :D
What a cool dude. Wish i had these kinds of skills. What a lucky kid to have such a neat dad.
I love it!! Exactly the sort of idea I’m looking for but going to tweak it a bit, I love the hammock that is an awesome touch
The hammocks are a stroke of genius!! I have so much truck envy now, I've always wanted to do this.....
First I probably need a truck....... lol
Thanks Glen, I thought it was a good way to solve the problem!
I think from now on I'm just going to watch and see what you come up with. This is why I have enjoyed watching your channel all along. Look forward to hearing from you. Take care brother.
surprises around every corner ;)
I like that pull out ideas.
You got me thinking on that awning, may make a canoe rack with awning perchs on ends, but I'm going out the back & sides with mine.
Much respect, I’m sure that your family and you will be making wonderful memories. Hopefully I’ll meet you 1 day on the trails! Safe travels.
Yay ! This is the best thing iv seen in truck camping. I want one now !
Clever design. Thanks for sharing.

Pretty cool. I was wondering about using the side compartments for storage, but you nailed it. Thank you.
Thanks Bruce
that's awesome, and if you didn't get enough footage, thats a good thing, means you and the family were enjoying it and each other, well done
That's pretty much what I thought!
Hey Zack Andy from New York came across your videos surfing CZcams trying to build some pull outs for my adventure van anyways awesome videos. Love your mild humor .triple thumbs up.

Thank You for keeping it real and fun also! You have a new viewer.
My first thought when I saw your first bedding arrangements, "I hope his kids are past the bed wetting phase."
You did a nice job with that setup. It has given me an idea for our 15 passenger van.
lol, yeah that could be troublesome. "why is it raining in here?"
Happy to be 1000 like. Great video thanks for making it.
pretty cool and such ingenuity....
So; I only just this week heard of Ron Paulk and his ideas and plans; and right away I thought of THIS VIDEO.
You are full of inspiration. Thanks

Yeah that's the truth! I was a little surprised how intricate it got once I really got into it.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it works out. thank you :)
Thanks Underground, I’ve used it once and have a long weekend camp out planned for Memorial Day and will hopefully be able to give a fair assessment afterwards. The first time seemed to be really good.
Like your style man!
Cool design. Enjoyable video. Thanks!
Hey Suz I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was fun to build and has been a lot of fun to use.

Nicely built looks like it will hold up for you and your family safe camping Zack.
That's what I'm hoping :)

I've never done any wood working in my entire life, but I'm going to attempt to make one sliding draw table like you have. Wish me luck
Good job I've seen many truck fixed up love the way you did yours. I deff would like to fix one like that if I ever get me another truck mine blew loved that truck. The hammocks were a brilliant idea.

Thanks onelung(McLung?) I have mad a point not to have the musical fruit on our campouts :)
His first effort for a place for the kids to sleep reminds me of that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer was renting drawer space for Chinese guys to sleep in but the humidity of the sauna made the wood swell and the drawers wouldn't open, I do like the hammocks though.
Man, after the first one I was quite literally asking myself how the #$% is he going to put this thing together? Very cool!

Just found this! Love your creative ingenuity! Its been over a year, how do you like it? What changes have you made?
Pure genius! Very impressive but you've got to know what you're doing with woodworking...
Good job
Thanks a lot Ryan!
Have fun camping!
Thank you! I plan to do just that :)
Hey brother, nicely done. Lets go camping!
I know this is an older video but another thing that works good to slide the drawers on is old cutting boards the white ones that are made from that plastic type material.
Clever 👌
Just download upon this I wanted to remind you to steal up any holes with caulk that you have drilled in the roof to prevent leaking
