I like the arc on his passes, his mobility and his ball protection, but only question for me would be arm strength as his passes look to be lacking zip.

No, all the ESPN, FOX, blogs, etc, etc. said that Texas would be WVU's first test since they had blue-chip defensive players. Texas is the best defense in the Big 12 on paper.

Alabama's D looks good because SEC Offense is terrible and they haven't played anyone. The WVU schedule thus far has been tougher than Alabama's.

he has about the same arm as rg3 and i meant he was bigger than rg3 but still fast and has a good arm, and hes very intelligent.
What about Noel Devine's 2010 Season? Geno Smith is cool but Devine is reminiscent of the Pat White days
It will be all about Smith and Barkely for the Heisman next season.
Geno was only that good because of how much time he had in the pocket, that then in turn helped tavon able to catch all those fall apart passes

Everyone says Geno Smith cracks under pressure. False. Whenever WVU's defense starts getting blown out (EX: Texas Tech, Kansas State) he feels like he need to carry his team (which he does) and he rushes plays and makes bad plays. But wouldn't you if you were losing 35 - 7 and trying to rush your team back into the game? And Geno Smiths running ability is servery underrated. He isn't a Pat White, but when he has to he can power run, and he does the right thing and slides. Smith = #1 NFL draft!

That was the entire point of this game... everyone said, "WV hasn't played anyone with defence except Maryland (and they play easy teams), Texas will be their first real test." Then we win that game and still people like you claim we haven't played any team with a good defense. If you don't recall, the same team ran all over (stat-wise) LSU last year - new to the offense.
The Defense in the Big 12 isn't terrible, its just that the offenses are really good. Not the same in the SEC.

He's rated 5th for QBs going into the season. It's in no way a sure thing, but don't be surprised if Geno is in the Heisman race by season's end.
Its not only the D, its the type of offense. If a team like WVU plays Alabama, they aren't going to hold them to 2 TDs, its probably going to be like 5 or 6. The SEC is a conference that is Defense-oriented, so the games are generally low scores. They don't have the high octane offense to put major points on the board unless they play suck teams like Michigan.
OK and Clemson and GA were supposed to clobber us because of the 4 and 5 star players, but they didn't - they weren't better teams.
When I think of you Doug...I think of this. Tavon's work being tied. Exemplary.

I don't think Stewart used Geno and our recievers (Bailey, Austin, ect.) to their full potential. Now with Holgorsen (who made Oklahoma St one of the most exciting teams to watch last year) we should be able to see Geno light it up.
Look at Kaepernick and RG3... im seeing more and more shot gun type set ups when watching the NFL. Offenses are changing.
LSU has a way of knocking out those heisman canidates. i think he threw 3 int against a real defense last year.

I saw one of the receivers get pushed out of bounds and then and INT but other than that he should never have made those passes.
Tavon and Bailey and Smith were 3 stars... now, they are the best in the country. Better than all the 5 stars.

wrong, Bailey and austin were 4 stars on rivals. Austin was even a 5 star on scout...
Air raid would be similar to what arkansas ran during the patrino years and were very successful at... alabama shut them down in 2009 giving up only 7 points and in 2011 giving up only 14 points. Dee milliner dominated not only against michigan but in every game this year.
And ole miss is better than people give credit for this year, but in a ball control offense there are less snaps which means less points...

None of those teams runs our style of offense - maybe the RichRod spread style but we don't run that anymore. I saw the Michigan game and there was plenty of time to make throws, Denard just made bad throws.

While I agree that some do not develop and some are overrated, most are more accurate than not. You forget that Geno was highly touted out of high school as well as Austin and Bailey... None of those guys were sleepers. We knew they were good coming up.
Im saying that probably 7/10 times the rankings will be somewhat close to accurate. So if you apply that to every LSU or Alabama or Florida player... the proof is there. More talent. Combine that with great coaching......... boom.

Oh there's no question that WVU's offense is great I'm not saying it's not, but Texas's D really isn't very good, whoever said that was probably referring to Texas's team as a whole being their first test.
As far as the SEC goes, I don't see how you could say the defenses are overrated and the offenses suck when they line up 4 and 5 star recruits all across the field.They just have more talent, that isn't to say any given day they could not lose tho...

but if you think WVU would drop 5 or 6 tds on UA you're insane. You wouldn't have time 1st of all because they play ball control/time of possession offense like the NFL. No one realizes how good they are until they play them. Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Michigan, and Florida are all teams that have run the WVU style spread offense and been, not just beaten, but SHUT DOWN by Alabama.
