He has written for The New York Times, Jenkem, Transworld Skateboarding, Smithsonian Associates, Bucknell University Press, and has taught at Baruch, City College, the College of Staten Island, Brooklyn College, Cooper Union, and Barnard Pre-College. In this episode, we speak on why giving yourself props in skateboarding is frowned upon, working 4 jobs in NY to survive which eventually led to moving away, art being useless/skateboarding is not an art, graffiti in galleries/museums, NYC becoming a skatepark city, how instagram has changed skateboarding and more.     Open up art to include music and pop forms like cartoons and theater and there’s your shared language. I understand his point, though. Why do we want to make skateboarding an art form? Is that legitimizing skateboarding? Why not let skateboarding be skateboarding? It can be it’s own thing and that even more dope
